why in the world would MS need a price drop? Sony is floundering and is still more expensive than the 360. The last thing MS needs is a price drop. You may hate it but they don't need a price drop to sell 360s.

I think that's a key component of this presentation - this stuff for the 360 is coming by the end of the year. Hell, some stuff was launched tonight. Just about everything of interest from the Sony and Nintendo camps is 2008 and beyond.
Everyone is bitching about the lack of price cut, but why should they cut the price? They introduced a limited edition sku that will surely sell out and actually generate a profitable return, and they will most likely continue to outsell the PS3. I don't think they have any reasonable hope of catching the Wii, so dropping the price has no actual benefit for them.

I guess that pic from earlier was poor lighting. No gray 360 coming.

That was a pretty disappointing conference for me.
- No price drop
- That was probably the worst COD4 level they could have picked to demo (not to mention the two guys they chose)
- Assassin's Creed was really buggy
- No Halo 3 shots lasting more than a second or two
- Another SKU, and a pretty lame one at that
- With the exception of RE5, almost everything was stuff we had seen clips from before

I'm not sure what more MS could have shown to make everyone happy. The fact is that the 360 has the games right now, and MS did a good job of showing that. I have a Wii and, frankly, other than Zelda and Wii Sports, there is not much there. I suspect that many people who buy a Wii do not even buy a game, sticking with Wii Sports. Few games besides it actually make good use of the WiiMote. Wii has its place, but at this point it is not a gamer's system. Ultimately, I am not sure it is much of a threat due to the lack of software sales (as we all know, that is where the money is made). PS3's lineup is a joke. I'm sure Sony will promise more to come at their conference, but MS has already delivered time and time again and just showed quite a bit more to come.

As others have pretty much said already, the briefing was solid, but I think people were disappointed by the lack of surprises. There are a ton of amazing games coming out between now and the end of the year, but we already knew about all of them. With that said, I know that my wallet is gonna take a serious beating between late August and the end of November.

Mmm
Mass Effect
Bioshock
Resident Evil 5
Assassin's Creed
Grand Theft Auto 4 (I would've loved some new content, but maybe I should avoid all info about this game till it comes out and be completely surprised)
Those are all I ask for.
Sorry to you Halo fans but I think it's one of the worst franchises in the history of gaming.
Bring on Half-Life 2: Episode 2 and the entire Orange Box.

Overall, worst E3 conference ever. Nothing new that was exciting, and their biggest surprises were a damn Scene It! game which is utterly useless along with a 4th console SKU in the form of the Halo 3 console. Yah the games looked good, but we knew all about them and they added nothing hot or exciting to look forward to.
After such a disappointment, i cant wait for tomorrows conferences which will for sure be full of surprises.

I was kind of disappointed in Assassin's Creed. It is still one of my most anticipated games, but there were numerous and noticeable bugs in that new demo video. The game is coming out in a few months, so shouldn't it be almost bug-free by now? Bodies floating in mid-air is something I would expect in an early beta demo, not an almost complete demo.
