I haven't been this hooked on a game since...The Chronicles of Riddick. ;)

Actually, I've been just as hooked on Oblivion, Ar Tonelico, and Guitar Hero II. But the game still rocks!

Here's an Achievements list for the Darkness.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/a...php?gameID=256

According to this list, there's no Achievement for watching the entirety of TKaMB.

Anyone found any cool random phone numbers to dial? 6666 was alright.

I dialed a phone number and I was killed for no reason all of sudden. I tried the number again after it reloaded my game.....and somehow I survived. What an odd glitch.

Has everyone gotten the 2 Darkling costumes that came from buying the game in a certain store. Essentially they give you a phone number to call and it unlocks a costume. 1 for buying it from Gamestop and one for buying it from some European retailer - but you can find the numbers to call online (or i can post them here). The European retailer call is at least kind of funny. The Gamestop one is lame. The costumes are neat though, one give the berserker a jersey and baseball bat and the other gives him a knit cap, pants, and a golf club.

Ok, I'm kind of stuck in
Spoiler:
hell.

Spoiler:
I have made it through the trenches and up to the hilltop with the creepy bird thing that screams at you. I circled the hill and made it to the bunker with guys inside of it. I have went through the bunker and used the Creeping Darkness to open 2 different doors. I now have nowhere to go. I think i have explored the bunker entirely - at least i can find no unexplored places. Do i need to do something with the crucified thing on the hill? I have shot it, tried to eat it's heart, tentacled it, tried to activate it with and without Darkness activated. Any ideas?

Spoiler:
Go back to the bunker. There will be a crate and a wall that you can blow up with the kamikaze darkling. This was annoying but not as frustrating as the last part of the hell level....good luck.

Well, I sat the character down to watch TKAM, left for dinner, and came back. No new achievement, and I couldn't get the character off of the couch, so ended up resetting...

MasterofDVD 07-02-07 11:38 AM

I need to help one last person for the heart of gold achinevement

Spoiler:
Little Petey Terrone – Wants you to deliver a message to a guy wearing a red hat in Canal St. near the Chinatown exit, stood in front of a vending machine.

The guide I found says to do this in chapter 5 but the guy isn't there. Any ideas?

You have to look over at the window to get up off the couch.

MasterofDVD 07-03-07 04:02 AM

I was so damn lost on the Heart of Gold for some time but I finally got it. I got most of the single player achievements and I don't even feel like trying for the online ones.

I'm a huge shooter fan and I liked the concept of the game but it still had a number of faults.
My problems with the game....

Spoiler:

1. I thought that the the world seemed very barren and empty. Sure it was the slums but it just seemed flat to me.

2. It was weird having so much of the world open at the very start of the game. I like having new areas open up as I go along.

3. If you insist on giving your main character long hair then please try to do it well. Some of the character models also looked just plain scary. Jenny was done well and it seemed like they put far more time into her than anyone else.

4. The way The Darkness power is presented and reacted to in the game is very odd. People on the street are freaked out but the "villains" in the game don't seem to be. When the powers first show up the main character has very little reaction to his new circumstances. It really threw me and I wondered why I was more curious about the powers than the character in the game was.

5. The loading screens got very tiring to watch. The ones with dialog were ok but the ones without were very annoying. Why bother having to press B to skip a loading screen? If the game is done loading then move on with it.

I did enjoy the game, or else I wouldn't of gone for so many of the achievements, but for as long as this game was in development I expected a bit more I guess. I enjoy shooters and it was nice to have a bit of variety as far as gameplay and mechanics.

i finished it for the first time this past weekend, and now I am 75% of the way through it a second time. i absolutely love this game. it is the best game of 2007 so far IMHO. the acting is friggin incredible. I love the gore...the blood looks spectacular. this game is just a blast to play.

xmiyux 07-03-07 08:38 AM

The multiplayer kind of sucks though. I tried one match and thought it was kind of laggy with spastic aiming. Not a big fan.

Single player though is wonderful stuff.

Actually it does. Directly is implied. when not stated. I work in terminology, in the language industry. So let's talk games and stop trying to act like we know what we are talking about. m-kay?

KurrptSenate 07-03-07 08:56 AM

well, maybe in nerd-ville that could be the case

but accordinging to Mr Webster

properly related in size or degree or other measurable characteristics; usually followed by `to'; "the punishment ought to be proportional to the crime"; "earnings relative to production"
graduated: (of taxes) increasing as the amount taxed increases
one of the quantities in a mathematical proportion
having a constant ratio

if you don't define the ratio, well.....

xmiyux 07-03-07 09:29 AM

This is my absolute fav thing to happen on online forums. When one person accuses the other person (directly or indirectly) of being a nerd when both people are posting on an online forum about videogames in the middle of the day during the workweek.

And i don't care if someone is working on their Phd and only posts at work and is a casual gamer because they have other hobbies that take up their entertainment budget. Nor do i care if they only like multiplayer on the same screen so they can share some beers with their friends as opposed to online multiplayer. Perhaps they even think they aren't a nerd because they don't think graphics matter and prefer 2D games to the newer 3D games.

We are all nerds here. ;)

xmiyux 07-03-07 12:22 PM

Alright, alright, the mere fact that each of you could probably explain to me the different nuances between these identities means that ya'll are nerds. :p

Liver&Onions 07-03-07 12:28 PM

stfu hippie!

wlj 07-03-07 12:40 PM

i am a nerd.

Michael Corvin 07-03-07 12:56 PM

So to recount, we have a geek, a dweeb, a nerd, a hippie and a princess. Sounds like the newest season of Average Joe.

Liver&Onions 07-03-07 01:53 PM

Well, the Princess is the hippie - so we still need another to fill out the cast.

thegame370 07-05-07 05:32 AM

Anyway, bout the game, picked it up a few days ago, been playing it and its pretty sweet. Story so far is interesting, the voice actiing is great (although the character models dont seem to move thier mouths at all, especially Jackie), the use of load times is interesting and the gameplay and graphics are very nice. Ive been looking forward to playing something along the lines of Condemned:Criminal Origins (Great Game!) and this one fits the bill.
Online Multiplayer is for shits tho......
