Riddick was an amazing game, I have high hopes for this one. And I believe in a thing called love.

I will be buying The Darkness next week. I heard it has really good multiplayer as well as the single player campaign. In MP, you can wield the darkness at other people. It might be similar to F.E.A.R. and it's slo-mo multiplayer.

I will be buying it based on my love for Riddick... that and because of this quote:
which has to be the best video game quote of the past year that didn't come from a Sony executive.
When the reviews hit next week you will be lucky if I let you polish my shoes with your tongues.

IGN UK gave the 360 version an 8.5
1UP gave the 360 and PS3 versions a 9.0
Play UK gave the PS3 version a 91
2:00 PM Tuesday for $49.99 @ Circuit City.

With this kind of setup, you may be expecting a full-on shooter, and while that description isn't terribly inaccurate, The Darkness features more downtime than you might expect. Moments like taking the time to sit on a couch and snuggle with your girlfriend and visiting your aunt remind me more of something like Indigo Prophecy than anything you normally see in shooters, and the open city requires you to spend a decent amount of time traveling through different parts of town using the subway system.
Like Riddick, the main story here won't take you long to get through (it's in the 10-hour range), but because of the game structure, you can spend time getting lost and messing around in the wrong parts of town if you choose. There's not a ton to do besides receiving "track this item down" missions from characters in subway stations and using your tentacles to pick up objects and mess with the game's physics -- this isn't the easiest thing to do if you're the type who likes to stack objects in piles and then use those to climb to secret areas, but it works and occasionally rewards you with bonus collectibles. But the feeling of running around town works pretty well, and you really get to know this version of New York by the end of the game.

Two reasons I'm getting the 360 version: Multiplayer and achievements. I know way more people with 360's than I do with PS3's, so the multiplayer is a no brainer if I want to play with my friends. And achievements speak for themselves.

IGN put a stop to the hype, giving it a 7.8 (US Site).

Plus rumble feature and a better controller....and probably better gfx/loading since it was built for the 360

Contrary to popular belief. A 7.8 is not a bad score. It's actually a very good score.........

well IGN isn't the only one out there. 1UP who is usually really tough gave it a 9/10.

Since my 360 is a useless brick that will only flash 3 red lights at me when I turn on the power, I'm getting this for the PS3. Actually, after getting the 3 lights of death, I'll likely be getting all multi-console games for the PS3 from now on.

Yeah, if you actually watch their video review (or read it), they don't really bash it at all, saying that it's a really solid game, with a tacked-on multi-player. It's just not an absolute classic or as great as Riddick was (which very few games are).

Just got back from CC. They were unloading the truck right at 2 so the girl had to go find the game from the boxes.
I was one truck stop away from having a $20 GC.

Yep.
I'm listening to EGM live right now and they are saying it can be beaten in one sitting.
Saying to rent, not buy. That's no good.
Hopefully the achievements offer some re playability if that is the case.

Okay, this game rocks. I'm only an hour or so in, but I'm already loving it. It definitely feels like a successor to Riddick, which is a good thing, IMO.

I'm about an hour or so in as well. So far, I too an enjoying the game. The graphics and sound are nice. The controls and camera feel solid. The darkness powers are a nice touch.
I am, however, stuck at one part. Maybe someone who is a bit further in can help me.
