Night Trap -- Sega CD -- 1992

Night Trap!

Does anyone remember this cheesy game? The one that caused tons of controversy back in the early 90's. The game that had a big hand in the creation of the ratings system. Damn, maybe we really are becoming more and more desensitized as the years go on. The cheese seems to fly nowadays.

I still have that game. I tried playing it last year, but "died" pretty quickly. I wish I still had the guide my brother and I made, writing down the exact times and exact locations that the Augers would show up.

I still own it on 3DO. Never got very far into it and I hated FMV games in general though I did buy many for 99 cents out of the bargain bin.

That is one of three games I still own for Sega CD (the others being Sonic & Snatcher). It's so terrible it's good.

That game was already cheesy and dated when it came out.

The FMV games I did like where the Sherlock Holmes ones for the Sega CD.

Do you really have to ask if anyone remembers a game "Back in the early 90's'?

Damn I feel old.

Wasn't there some nudity in that game?

I do remember all the controversy with Night Trap in mags and such, looked somewhat entertaining. The only FMV I really played though is Critical Path for PC..was pretty hitech I guess at the time.

I haven't thought about this game in a while. I used to have it for 3DO. I loved the old FMV games. Sewer Shark was one of the better ones. I'd say the best were the Phantasmagoria games for PC. I still have both of them.

The 2nd Gabriel Knight was pretty cool too.

I liked the Wing Commander games with Mark Hamil as well.

I had sewer shark (came with the sega cd 2) and ground zero texas. I rented the sherlock holmes game (I think) and also the Vampire Unleashed game. The vampire game was actually really good.Ah memories.

Yeah, WIng Commander III and WIng Commander IV were great. I especially love that not only did your responses and actions during the FMVs affect how the story progressed, so did how well you played during the missions. Even little thing got altered. For example, I was psyched when I saw Mark Dacascos as a Junior pilot in the game. The first time I played, I interacted with him, flew the mission, and had a caht or two with him again. The next time I played the game, he died during the mission and Blair was really bumed about it afterward.

Sadly, the fourth game was so expensive (at the time) that the next sequel, Wing Commander Prophecy had its budget slashed and only featured one branching element with any consequence. If you helped a pilot kill some unarmed Kilrathi the other Kilrtathi wouldn't help you a few missions down the road. If you chose to let them live, the Kilrathi would later lend support during a critical mission somethere down the road.

I really wish this series was re-released for PC and that we'd get another sequel with a proper send-off for Blair. But not that silly Instectoid-Blair (The Guyver was cheesy fun but I'd rather not have it referenced in a Wing Commander game) angle they wanted to go for before Wing Commander Prophecy bombed and the next sequel got axed.

This reminds me a little of Under A Killing Moon. But UAKM was a classic/great game.

Me too! I still have all of the CD32X FMV games. NIGHT TRAP was by far my favorite though. My kids and I loved to play this together... and it was fun to get through to the end. My boys were crazy for WIREHEAD and made it through to the end.
I would love a remastered version of NIGHT TRAP for the XBox360.

Great drunken memories of playing this game with friends; I especially remember the Wade Boggs look-a-like giving you hell and ripping the cord from "your" controller after failing

I still have the Sega 32x (better video) and Sega CD and version of Night Trap. I used to play it all the time.

The other ones I own are Corpse Killer, Ground Zero: Texas, Sewer Shark, Supreme Warrior, Double Switch, Slam City with Scottie Pippin,.

I would love to see Sewer Shark remade for Xbox 360.
