I can't believe the only problem with the game is the Sixaxis controls. I mean, it's getting panned everywhere, pretty much. I don't think a simple analog stick conversion would suddenly make it a 10 game, or even an 8.

SteelgearX 09-01-07 10:03 AM

Well, why's it so hard to believe? A great game with shitty controls doesn't work does it?

Yeah pretty much. Look at the early Resident Evil games. They were great games with only one major flaw: shitty controls. Therefore, many people hated them.

I would say that controls rank as the second most important thing in a game right below fun gameplay.

Right, but what I'm saying is that the controls can't be the only problem with the game for it to get such awful reviews.

Sure it can.

If the controls are so shitty, that it makes the game unplayable, then it's not much of a game now is it?

I'm in the same boat. In the worst case I can always play through it once and sell it to make some of my money back. I've enjoyed Factor 5 games in the past, so hopefully it'll at least be somewhat enjoyable. It wasn't bad when I played it at an event shortly before the PS3 launch.

If the Power Glove had been the mandatory controller for Ocarina of Time, it would've been one of the shittiest games ever.

I love the Wii Power Glove. It's so bad.

Gdrlv 09-01-07 11:34 PM

Apparently, you can play Lair with an analog stick on any USB controller without Sixaxis functionality.

Supermallet 09-02-07 12:57 AM

Would that work with the Dualshock adapter USB dongle?

Chris_D 09-02-07 03:53 AM

Before you dash out to buy Lair make sure to note:

Need to wait until someone does some more definitive research on this.

Supermallet 09-02-07 07:05 AM

Don't worry, I'm not running out to buy it, even if it worked with the Dualshock adapter.

Well, that Amazon deal is too damn good to pass up and my mom's BD check to me was too big to ignore, so I jumped in and bought a PS3 today. Happy Birthday To Me! Got the 2 POTC flicks and Casino Royal. Honestly, there really isn't any PS3 games I wanted at present, but I did buy Motostorm used for $33 at ebay. That downloadable content is free right?

I'm sure I have lots of questions about the system, but right now I just have two : How do you get that peripheral to use PS2 accessories on the PS3 (I love my Tekken 5 stick) and does the PS3 have an optical out port like the PS2 did?

Thanks and hope to see you online! :)

Ratchet & Clank Future is still on target for the Christmas season, right?

Michael Corvin 09-03-07 01:34 AM

yes there is an optical port.

Decker 09-03-07 01:39 AM

Michael, are there any PS3 exclusive games you really like or that you are looking forward to in 2007?

bee_01 09-03-07 07:11 AM

I'm looking forward to Uncharted.

Tomb Raider without the boobs.

Michael Corvin 09-03-07 07:15 AM

Lair was the big game I was looking forward to, unfortunate how that turned out.

Uncharted looks great. Little Big Planet is another. Then Echochrome (?), the MC Escher looking game.

PerryD 09-03-07 09:03 AM

Besides Ratchet & Clank, I'm looking forward to Sega Rally and Time Crisis 4.

Decker 09-03-07 09:17 AM

I remember reading something about Uncharted back when it was called "untitled Naughty Dog project". Is that coming out in 07?

I must say, Sony's having a rough go of it game-wise in 2007; especially lately. They can't be happy that consumers have a choice of the 360 with Halo 3 and Bioshock, the Wii with Metroid Prime3 and then the PS3 with Lair and Warhawk. I sure hope they can turn things around soon with some nice exclusives. In the meantime, I'm sure they're thanking their lucky stars that they made the PS3 a BR player; that's been their one saving grace. Well, that and the temporary price drop (which really needs to be permanent).

How will Time Crisis 4 work? Does it come with a new peripheral?

Uncharted is 2008. Aside from Ratchet & Clank, there's not a lot coming out this fall. The PS3's big year will be 2008: a lot of games, hopefully another price drop.

I couldn't wait, BD player wise, so I got one recently. Are there any "greatest hits" type games for the PS3 yet? Should I expect those in the fall? I'd love to try Resistance and/or Motorstorm but I hate paying more than $40 for any game.

Also, what are some of the better original downloadable games?

Both those are less than $40 shipped used on ebay. I don't need a new copy. I picked up Motorstorm for $36 shipped. I'd like to try Resistance, especially since I love Insomniac's work so much, but between Bioshock and Halo 3, I figure I don't need another FPS right now.

Both of those games have demos available on PSN if you just wanna try 'em out a little bit...

I didn't actually know but I googled it and this is what an IGN preview had to say:

The sensors are small squares, maybe an inch or two in length on each side, that simply need to be aligned at the top of the set but not necessarily at the corners. So those of you with 120" projection screens need not worry.
