Poll: Have you had to send your 360 in for service?
Well my 360 died last night.. About 80% of the group of guys I play with have had to send their's in.. Far cry from the 5% M$FT claims.
I am just curious to see the % here that have had their's crap out.
If you could.. Include the date of purchase.
Thanks!
EDIT - Excuse the extra "it" in the poll choices! It's supposed to be "send it in"

I got mine in September 2006 and have never had any problems, other than maybe twice when a game froze up on a loading screen. For the record, I don't really play it that much compared to most, and when I do play it's rare that it's for more than an hour or so at a time.

Bought at launch, died within 6 months. Sent it in and got a refurb which died about 6 months later. I'm on my third which I received around Nov. last year. So far so good. It appears to be a new unit, manufactured that October('06).

Bought one in late January and got the three rings in early February. I exchanged it at the store instead of shipping it off to Redmond. The one I have now gave me the red rings twice a couple of weeks ago and has been working fine ever since, so I have my fingers crossed.

I didn't buy at launch but i know i had mine over a year. I sent mine in for disc drive issues but never received the red rings (it was just lightly scratching some discs and making terrible noises). They sent me my exact unit back just with a new DVD drive installed.

Purchased mine 12/30/05 and have no problems with mine with fairly heavy usage *knocks on wood* Figures I bought the MS extended warranty too, which I generally never do.

If I remember correctly, I bought mine in December 2005. I've been lucky enough not to have any problems yet. Judging by what I've read, it's only a matter of time, but I have the extended warranty so I'm not too concerned.

Well, mine died after the VERY first dashboard update. I had a 360 since launch also. It died then, I got my new one pretty quickly, however, when I got it back I could not get online...there was a glitch in the new system they gave me. They realized the error, so I had to send it back AGAIN.
I did get a FREE wireless controller for my trouble though. So I guess that was ok then.

Although i would love to see some sort of class action suit to tag MSoft for charging people to have their console repaired when it seems (without seeing any actual statistics) that they have a much higher failure rate.

with all these 360 dying after dashboard updates, it leads me to believe that you could re-flash the firmware on the DVD drive and it should fix the problem.
I might have to give that a try

As a ton of others have said. This system is so sweet that it is worth the risk. I knew of how often they broke and I still pulled the trigger. Got a year of almost daily use before she bit the dust...

Totally unacceptable pricing/failure rate IMO and I just can't bring myself to shell out $$$ in support of it. I'd rather cast my vote by not buying one until this is resolved.
Though to be fair, it is easier for me than some as I'm not a huge FPS/Racing/online gaming fan so my temptations aren't that strong right now.
