Called again today and they can't even tell me if they looked at it. The guy said they're getting so many each day the repair timeframe was extended.-ohbfrank-:(

I want a fuckin' game OR 3 for this.

Liver&Onions 07-13-07 09:24 PM

i'm a mod and I can't even change my vote on this. lol. Hmmm ,maybe it's time for a part 2 of this thread and see if results are similar...what do you guys think?

Decker 07-13-07 11:51 PM

So far (Dec 2006), so good. But my best friend who also got his from Overstock.com a couple of weeks after me had his croak last week. I keep nagging him to send his friggin' system back but he's been busy.

My vote would also change so I'm all for it since I'm curious as well.

If a new poll is asked? I would like to know "if your 360 died", was it in a well vented cabinate or on an open shelf?......or hidden out of sight, in the dark with the air vents taped up!........

Cardiff Giant11 07-14-07 09:04 AM

glad to see they've extended the warranty as i've been waiting to get mine fixed for the second time til i had 100 bones to spare which i've really yet to have lately. Going to call them up next week and see what the scoop is.

Tygan 07-14-07 09:06 AM

dropped mine off at the UPS store on Thursday....hoping for a decent turnaround time.

My 360 was on an open-air shelving unit (the lowest shelf, just off the carpet) in the basement, the coolest room in the house. And it died within 6 months.

If it would fit within your poll, I'd be interested in knowing the number of RROD errors versus other (video card, drive) errors.

But yeah, my answer changed so a new poll would be helpful.

McHawkson 07-14-07 12:29 PM

Honestly, the poll is now useless because you never know if you will get RROD in the future. We should keep the thread open or create a new thread without poll.

I'm playing the shit out of my 360 these days, hoping to get the 3-rings, just so I get get it repaired and have it back in time to be good to go come September/November when all the great games hit. Nothing would suck more than to have to be in the middle of Halo3/Bioshock/etc. and have to send it in and wait for a month to pick a game back up.

Yeah, I'm hoping that mine recently breaking was a case of good timing. Well, assuming they have fixed the problems with the heatsinks...

If you want it to break, put it into a cardboard box and play it for a while. With zero ventilation, I'm sure it won't be long before it craps out. Oh, and play it while the 360 is vertical, that seems to make matters worse.

I just got mine for XMAS, no problems....yet, I'm still treating it with kid gloves until after the XMAS holiday, buy then the 65nm chips should be out or at the very least, a permanent fix.....then I will ride my system hard and put it away wet....OK..... and maybe block the vents so it really gets hot......

As you know my 360 problem was video related and I never got he Red Rings. They still have my 360 and I'm guessing that as soon as I get mine back with the video repaired, my 360 will suddenly pull a Red Ring fit and crap out on me.

I'm really hoping that since they already have it they're doing upgrade fixes. Yeah right....

EDIT TO ADD: I just got off the phone, after holding almost an hour, and the girl now tells me they're sending me a "refurb" with new hardware inside and it should be here Thursday. Fuck, I was hoping to not get a refurb. :(

redcat 08-02-07 06:44 PM

Mine got the flashing red rings today. I bought it in Sept. 2006 and I really don't play very much - usually only a couple of hours a week unless I'm really into a game. I was almost expecting it to happen soon since the fan seemed to be in overdrive yesterday when I played NCAA 2008. After 30 minutes on the phone with support, the box is on its way. I still have my old XBox, so I guess that'll get some use now.

My replacement console went RROD today, exactly 5 months to the day that I got it. What the hell. I thought they were fixing this problem with the newer units. Is that not the case? This sucks, I broke my ankle last week too so this is one of the things keeping me busy. And I just bought a HD tv on Sat.
