You really don't think so?

Some Best Buys in Indianapolis had a midnight opening for Madden. I can't imagine not seeing it happen for Halo 3.

I'd say maybe a half dozen legit, and maybe a half dozen others off the radar. I can't imagine them doing a company-wide midnight launch.

But, you never know.

Here is alist of the stores doing a midnight launch, courtesy of LinkinPrime on CAG. No midnight launch for me. I bet it is the same list from the midnight 360 launch.

Spoiler:

No midnight launch for me. Walmart's guaranteed "enough for everyone" for midnight on release date, so I'll cancel my BB preorder and get it there. Not going to work until noon the next day, so I'll be up late with it.

I already have mine paid off at GameRush. Been that way for a LONG time when they had GREAT trade-in deals.

I may even pick it up at midnight at Wal-Mart. The guaranteed enough combined with the multiple registers dedicated solely to ringing out Halo 3 is tempting. My midnight launch of the Harry Potter book at a local Borders was a ridiculous nightmare due to only like 3-4 registers. If Wal-Mart can get me out quickly then they will get my business.

No way, screw that 100+ bucks for a bunch of stuff i will never use. I'm going with the middle 69.99 collector's edition set.

I was considering the Legendary until a price was announced.

Looks like there is a Best Buy midnight launch not too far from here (20 mins) but there is a WalMart much closer. I don't see any reason to drive the extra distance.

Is midnight guaranteed at all WalMarts?

Who cares about midnight sales?
So many stores are getting this and getting early in time for it's street-date, and throwing in 7-11s (who probably don't give a shit about street-dates and don't have too much storage room), that there's going to be a lot of street-date breakers. My local "mom&pop" video game store already promised to sell me a copy by the 21 at the latest - I was just browsing and didn't ask about Halo at all - they just volunteered that info themselves.

I care, because I'd like to get a copy at midnight.

I don't know anyone that I expect to break the date.

I picked up my Halo 2 at a 24-Hour Wal-Mart SUPERCENTER at midnight. I remember getting there around 8:45 p.m. and being 2nd in line. I saw a woman asking about it in the electronics department and the clerks directed her to the Customer Service area at the front of the store. There was a sign set-up there: "HALLO 2 line here" ....

Is yours a 24-Hour WM?

I think ours is a 24 hour Wal-Mart but I'm certainly not waiting in any line for hours. I'd rather go get it in the morning.

Do you really think lines will be crazy?

I'm excited but I do have better things to do than stand in line.

Yeah, after waiting in line at Gamestop for 3 hours in the cold, even though I'd preordered months and months earlier, no way will I wait in line.

I'll go to Wal-Mart at about 12:30 AM, and if there's a line, forget it.

For me half the fun of the game coming out, and system releases as well, is the wait with other excited fans. I waited with all my buddies for Halo 2 and it was great. This time my one friend who has since moved away is coming home just for the release of the game so we can wait in line again. I planned my vacation around the game so I have nothing better to do on the 24th.

Man, they should make a game about that. It could be called "Game Line" and the plot involves waiting in line for "Game Line" to come out. You can chat with your buddies on xbox live, and when the store door opens you get an animated sequence and then you start waiting for "Game Line 2"

I didn't do a pre-order since I honestly think they'll be plenty. Is there any Best Buy exclusive? I'm still debating on which one to get. I know Target has the Halo figures available.

Got my verification email today from the Pontiac contest. I'll be playing all day on the 24th if anyone else on DVDTalk nabs it early.

Wait, that contest is only to get it one day early?

Still, it's free.
