Good call. Rogue Galaxy is a very fun game, but it has zero replay value. It has started going down in price, and I figure in another 6 months it'll be found for $14.99 used.

The best way to get the games you want w/ case and manuals is to check out the website for store availability of the games you want to get. There are no less than 10 gamestops or EBgames in my city, so it wasn't too tough to find at least 1 decent copy of a game I wanted. If you can only find 1 or 2 games at one store location, just purchase them there and go to another store that has 1 or 2 other games you want. Return the games you have already purchased from store A to the new store and tell the manager that you couldn't find 3 games you wanted at store A. Tell them that you were told you could return the game to the new store and re-purchase it with the 3rd game you want at the new store. My purchases were as follows:

Mega Man X Collection 17.99
Lego Star Wars 17.99
Batallion Wars 8.99
at EBGames #1

Killer 7 8.99
at Gamestop in Mall

Then I returned all 4 to EBGames #2 and purchased
Bomberman Jetters 9.99
Godzilla: Destroy all Monsters 17.99
Tiger Woods 2003 2.99

I do have to admit that the manager at EBGames #2 has always been very helpful though. (In the past he has even given me a new case for a $5 used game whose case was very torn up) Also, I wasn't able to get the 10% coupon to stack w/ my edge card (I think geting this is very YMMV)

Went to another GS. My intent was to buy two recent 360 or PS3 games and get Godfather for the Wii for free, but couldn't find and two games that I really wanted that were more expensive than Godfather. So instead I went with two older 360 games:

Godfather (Wii)
Condemned (360)
NFS: Most Wanted (360)
$20/game - not the best way to maximize the savings. I may return all 3 and re-do it with 2 games closer to the Godfather price

We got an email yesterday saying not to stack the B2G1F deal with the extra 10% off Edge card coupon.

Picked up 360 games Dead Rising, Burnout Revenge and Tomb Raider Legend for $66.00 total - Didn't think that was too bad for three games I wanted.

Thanks for the heads up!

I was also surprised to see that many (most?) of the PS2 games were missing box and instructions. This seems to be a recent epidemic with the PS2, although common back with the N64 and GBA which was kind of understandable because people thought the game boxes were just packaging. It boggles the mind though that people would throw out the PS2 packaging and keep the discs lying around on the floor.

After I learned that they give you NOTHING for the box and book for their games, I stopped giving them the box and book from that point forward.

The guy thought it was really weird when I was trading in Wii games, but insisted that I keep the box and book

What purpose does that serve? Just pisses off the guy coming in behind you, me, that wants those things. It's not like they charge more with the box/book so I don't get the angle.

I wouldn't really call it an "angle"

its basically like, they aren't going to give me anything for free, so I really don't feel the need to do the same.

Same thing when I go to trade in guitars.

So you're the reason they are making the home made drawings on the cases!!

Way to stick it to them!

you act as if I OWE them the cases + books or something. my motivation has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that most people on this site aren't too happy shopping there in the first place.

Thats like you trading in a car, realizing they are going to give you dick for the in-dash CD player, and you take it out before the final transaction.

But yea, you're right. I should give them the cases so I have to hear grown men whine about it less on a message board

Except in the case of the CD player, it actually has a use without the car (put in another car, et cetera)... what do you do with the case + manual? Do you have any use for them at all?

I won't buy a used game from GS/EB without the case + manual. I won't whine about it, but it is their lost sale. Surprising to hear the trade-in value doesn't differ some, so I guess some people don't care about getting the proper case and manual.

Dude I could care less if you get off by not giving them the cases I just think it's lame as hell. Yea, I could see taking out an aftermarket CD player before trading in a car but in your scenario you'd be removing the FACTORY unit..

Also, I hate EB/Gamestop so I honestly could care less about them not getting the case from you..

There always seems to be a durth of good cases when I need one, and as you pointed out previously, if the store cared about it that much, well, they would give me extra for having everything in mint. I mean, they are giving me 15 bucks for a 50 game.

And yes, I feel that analogy still applies because its not like I can't use this same case for a different game, or a different game system entirely. Also, if there is some reason why I might want to aquire the game again, well, I don't have to worry about the book + case, since I already have em

I don't know. I was always one of those types that kept the book when you rent a game

This is the fault of EB for taking games without cases and instructions. I won't buy them. Worst part is sometimes the manuals vanish from the new games out on display and they expect you to take your new game without its manual. They lost a couple of GBA sales from me for this reason.

Try the doors, hood & trunk instead. I mean the car still works, why should you give them the extra shit?

Obviously, if you were to test that theory, the dealership would give you less for the automobile, which isn't the case with EB, hence making that point pretty moot

I guess I think it's pretty ridiculous to have a bunch of empty game boxes sitting around, especially since I never buy a game from anywhere that doesn't come with a box.

But whatever.

Yeah, it shouldn't be a surprise to anybody who has read previous posts. He steals his PSP and DS games, returns games to EB to get free rentals, goes to the store to look at the strategy guide, threw a fit about not being able to pre-order seven PS3s, buys up numerous limited editions for resale, etc.. and this.. and I'm sure more. Basically, all the wonderful things about a good retail customer rolled into one package.
