Which gets me to another question. Evolves. I assume every Pokemon evolves at a different level. Right? It's not something the user can trigger just a random event?

depends on the pokemon
some evolve starting at a specific level. others only evolve to their higher forms when you trade them to someone (like getting a gengar or alakazam). Others require an item you have to give them

Anyone still playing these games? I just picked Diamond up a month or so ago and am trying to find people to wifi battle with who might have pokemon from the GBA games so I can trade for them on the GTS. Especially interested in the starters from the GBA games. Unfortunately no one else in my circle of friends plays pokemon.

Just a quick resurrection to remind everyone that Darkrai is available to download at Toys R Us tomorrow from Noon to 4pm. It was also available today, but tomorrow is the last day and who knows if it will be possible to get this one again.

Now I have to keep this game up until they eventually give out Shaymin and Arceus, though those probably won't really be given out til Pokemon Platinum comes out (which of course I'll buy....)

I'm really surprised they haven't utilized the Wii in this respect... hell, I'd be willing to spend some Wii points on some of the legendaries I haven't ever had (like Deoxys).

I have to give a bit of positive feedback for My Pokemon Ranch on Wiiware.
Now first off this title is pretty shallow overall. It is mostly a place just to watch Pokemon and that will get old. However, there are some weird events that trigger from time to time like all of them stacking up as a Totem Pole. The interactions can be kind of funny and sometimes downright weird. My Mii was minding its on business when a Chimchar set it on fire.
Anyway, I will point out a couple of positive things. First of all the game obviously encourages you to move some of your Pokemon from the DS version into the ranch. You get rewarded for this by the Ranch expanding and improving over time with the in game Ranch manager bringing in her own Pokemon as well.
The feature I liked was the most wanted list. Whenever you connect the game looks at your Pokedex and then challenges you to bring it a few not in your Pokedex. It also gives you clues and locations to find these Pokemon. I have been stuck on 415 for months so this was really helpful. I was able to find all three including another one I hadn't found in the same area. When I brought the most wanted into the Ranch they were checked off the list and I was given 3 more I could find with specific hints on where and how to find them.
I believe you get rewarded over time for doing stuff like this and also leveling up the ranch by bringing in more Pokemon. This one is definitely worth the 1000 points for me. My son and I are both big fans of Pokemon and it is giving us both reason to go back and play the DS version more.

There are two pokemon you can get from My Pokemon Ranch based on how many you store, both legendaries:
1. When you store 250 pokemon, she'll trade you a Phione for a Leafeon
2. When you store 999 pokemon, you get a Mew.
Also (courtesy Bulbapedia):
Hayley occasionally offers to trade with the player. The Pokémon asked for is selected at random from those seen in-game while the Pokémon received will be one of the following twenty and will know a TM, egg move, or have something else that makes them unique:
* Pikachu
* Vulpix
* Ponyta
* Lickitung
* Tangela
* Eevee
* Aerodactyl
* Yanma
* Miltank
* Shroomish
* Wailmer
* Wynaut
* Staravia
* Combee
* Pachirisu
* Shellos
* Buneary
* Croagunk
* Finneon

Just wanted to chime in and mention that Pokemon Ranch helped inspire my son and me to get from 415 in our Pokedex to 485. Unfortunately, the last 6 I need to complete it are all super hard to get legendaries and there is no way I can get them all. Celebi for instance has never been brought to the US in any official form and I don't want to use a game shark to complete my Pokedex. I can get a few in Pokemon Colosseum, but don't know it if is worth the hassle for me.
I did have fun playing the game again for awhile and finding the easy ones I had missed the first time through. For that reason alone Pokemon Ranch was worth the 1000 points.
I also picked up the Deoxys and thankfully you can get it in the parking lot and never have to even venture into GameStop.

We found that out the hard way.

... oh, and we did get them from the parking lot of the second location (we actually went into the first when we couldn't get a signal).

What is the procedure for getting the Legendary from them? Do you have Diamond and Pearl booted up in a certain mode? Do you just have no cartridge in the system and set it to receive mode?
