It'll definitely work with Rock Band.

The Bus 10-17-07 01:54 PM

I thought the idea was that you pick an instrument and the game. What can I do with a bunch of instruments nobody is playing?

I guess I'll buy GHIII and play with that until 2008.

I'm sure there'll be plenty of individual peripherals (particularly wired guitars and mics) on ebay soon after release.

If they don't release a game only version right away (which some people say there will be, others say nope), I'll probably get 2 bundles and sell a mic, guitar, and maybe drums too.

flair 10-17-07 03:33 PM

I want all of the equipment, so I don't mind the bundle. I do think it's lame they didn't make a "bass" with a longer neck, but that is my only current (and very minor) complaint. I have no interest in the mic so that will be going up on ebay right away. I'm so glad you can't hear people over live.

argh923 10-17-07 04:57 PM

I can't imagine buying the game WITHOUT getting all of the equipment. Seems pointless.

Still really annoyed about not being able to hear your band's singer over Live. Really dumb. At the very least, it should be an option you can toggle.

Yeah, even if it wouldn't be the best quality, I'd still like the option. I suppose you could just start a chat with that person, and have them sing to you? :p

But the bundle does allow a single player to play through every single portion of the game. I understand that many people would prefer two guitars in the bundle, but I've already got two XPlorers and will soon have a Les Paul, so it's not a big deal to me at all.

Why? Is it hard to imagine some of us just want another guitar game? I was listening to Coheed & Cambria's song Welcome Home, which is on RB and it will be a great guitar track. I can't wait to try it out. On the flipside, matching Claudio's voice on that song will be... well, good luck with that.

Yeah, seriously...that's going to be one of the toughest songs for anybody singing, I think. I'm pumped as hell for that song, though.

The thing that bugs me the most about no individual instruments for RB at launch is the fact that the included guitar for the 360 is wired. So the only wireless guitar I will have will be the GHIII guitar, and there's no word on whether or not that will work with RB. If it doesn't work with RB, I won't be able to use all four instruments at once (I use the Microsoft wireless adapter), unless I get a USB hub, which is just a pain.

I believe the Rock Band bundle for the Xbox 360 comes with a USB hub.

Achievements: http://www.daking240.com/2007/10/16/...-achievements/

It would be cool if the game kept track of which gamertags(band mates) you finish the game with. That way for RB2 they could have a "Getting the band back together" achievement.

Harmonix has stated over and over again that they will go out of their way to support any and all guitar peripherals. That would include the XPlorer and Les Paul. It's Activision/Red Octane who will probably not support the RB Strat.

So I wonder if Band World Tour needs only 2 people to do?

No, they've stated RB WILL work with the XPlorer, and they stated that they could MAKE it work with the Les Paul, but only if there was sufficient interest. I have not seen any statements from the RB camp saying that the game does in fact work with the Les Paul.

I heard them say that they'll try to support *ALL* guitar peripherals. That, to me, means Les Paul and any other 3rd party guitars that will make it to the market. If the Les Paul is backwards compatible with GH2, then I would think that Harmonix wouldn't have to do anything special for it to work with RB. I mean, all the frets and everything should correlate to the same button presses on the XPlorer, so it should work right out of the box. At least that's my somewhat educated guess (or speculation).

Well, there's still the stand-alone Rock Band games up on amazon and Gamestop. So I'm assuming you CAN buy this and just play it with your GH3 guitar, right?

lol, that's the $1 million question for me yet. Some people will call us idiots for not being able to comprehend the articles that have stated it's bundle only, but those articles only say "if you want to have the total Rock Band experience on 11/23, you need to buy the bundle." Well, right, if you want the drums and guitar and game, you will have to buy a bundle. But if you just want the game...?

Obviously nothing definitive yet, and those Gamestop and Amazon pre-orders tell me you can still get just the game. We'll see.

Lots of new details about the Rock Around the World tour mode from GameSpot.

Sounds really amazing.

I was just going to post the GameSpot article. Fucking amazing stuff going on in there! This was already GOTY for me, even though there were some serious contenders with skate. and Bioshock, but this just pushed it over the edge and all the way into the next level.

I'm already gonna say it's GOTY for 2008 as well, as far as I'm concerned.

Amen to that. I was starting to think about not picking it up right away, but after reading that article and some of the new songs announced(even rumors of 'Foreplay/Long Time' by Boston being included) has got me right back to anticipating this game.
