In fact it's rare for me NOT to see you on. I'm kinda shocked this didn't happen to you sooner. Not that I wished this on you or anything like that. Either way, good luck on the new one. To be honest, for the 1st time in my gaming life I've been playing 2 or 3 hours at a time especially on LIVE. I've had this nagging feeling that this is going to kill my system sooner or later. :( |
You're right, Robo.:)

My 360 took a dump last week. Fortunatly I live a few hours away from the repair center so my shipping was done in a day and I already got my "replacement" system. They did give me a free month of Live, but would not replace the two games my system scratched. Microsoft also had the nerve to tell me my system wasn't under warranty, they said it was a 2005 system. I said "it must suck for y'all not selling a 2005 system until May of 06". Fuckers. Anyway, I was waiting for it to break, just not ready for it to start scratching games.

Now it looks like those that are out of the warranty and pay for a repair, get a warranty for 1 year and a month of XBL to help swallow that $140 repair fee. (Although they do not mention anything about XBL in regards to paid repairs, just the 1 year warranty) |
[Will Smith] I have got to get me one of these! [/Will Smith]

It's only $8, so not a huge deal, but the principle remains. |

Didn't they just start covering -some- scratched games? http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/13175/...ram-Kicks-Off/ |

Now they cover scratched games but at a 20 dollar price. Stupid thing is, that sounds to me like they are admitting the system scratches games. When I was arguing with MS on the phone, they told me "movement" scratched my games. Yeah, movement inside your shoddy system. Two games in a row got scratched and MS was nonchalant about it, I even volunteered to put in a third disc when I was on the phone with them but it wouldn't do any good, my system was bricked. It just sucks that one of the games was a Microsoft published game (Crackdown) and the other was NBA 2K7. They wouldn't even replace a game they publish (and I've seen the gifts GameStop managers get at Christmas - 20+ free games). Fuck Microsoft.

my system was exchanged for a brand new one about 3 months ago, and it scratched my Gears of War game without me moving it.
the game still plays, but has a terrible ring near the outer edge |
Dude, yup, same thing. A big ole ring. Thankfully the games still play.

thankfully, I have a friend who is a manager at a game store. He said if the disc every stopped working, he would swap it out for me.

You may not even notice all the new features, but they are all designed to enhance your Xbox Live experience. Some of the other features in this upgrade include: -The name of game in tray is now displayed in the dashboard. -When the tray icon is highlighted, a list of achievements, game icon and gamerscore for that game is displayed. -Video trick modes are enabled for content that is being progressively downloaded from Video Marketplace. -Playback progress bar indicates download completion. -Improved skip forward, skip back functionality during video playback. -Switchable aspect ratio now available during video playback (Auto to Letterbox, Zoom, Stretch, Native). -Player and friends lists now quickly show session presence information for quick identification of users that are joinable. -Support for streaming WM-DRM protected content from a PC -Folder view for video content on connected devices -H.264 video support: Up to 15 Mbps, Baseline, Main, and High (up to level 4.1) Profiles with 2 channel AAC LC and Main Profiles. -Added MPEG-4 Part 2 video support: Up to 8 Mbps, Simple Profile with 2 channel AAC LC and Main Profiles. -Show folder hierarchy for video content played from all devices. -Bookmarks are stored for each video that the user plays remembering the users last location in the file as well as the aspect ratio that the user choose for that file. -Video trick modes (fast forward, rewind, chapter skip) can now be used while downloading Video Marketplace content. -Skip forward and backward functionality has been improved to skip to the next or previous chapter. The same list of items are also available from within memory so that users can quickly see which items are consuming the most disk space. -The console will block the user who attempts to download content onto a storage device that will never have the capacity to store the item without deducting any points associated with the content item. -The screensaver is disabled when playing photos from any source |

Also known as: Reason #1 why we don't have a QWERTY keyboard in the 360 operating system. Lame. Give me a damn digital QWERTY keyboard already. |
How 'bout some COD2 tonight. I'm getting a little burnt out from Gears lately.
-Golucky |
... but the new game mode "annex" comes out for Gears today
|
Mine had started scratching some discs several months back before i got it replaced. They did the same thing to me on the phone - acting as if i was doing jumping jacks while playing to "vibrate" the system or implying i moved it from horizontal to vertical while in the middle of the game.
After shutting all that down i got them to replace it under my extended warranty and they sent me my exact unit back with a new disc drive and it works wonderfully now. It is a really quiet drive (as opposed to the previous horribly loud one). |
So, um, no new games will be added to the backwards compatability list in this next update?
