Yep, I was gonna pull the trigger on this, but decided to put the $ towards GRAW 2 instead.

I can't believe that I completely forgot that Mass Effect hits in May.

Mass Effect! Mass Effect! Mass Effect! Mass Effect!

(Can you tell I am psyched for this game?)

Has Mass Effect been officially announced for May or is it a tentative date? I thought it was supposed to be early this year but i assumed it would be delayed until this fall sometime.

Don't harsh my buzz, man.

The IGN article I linked to said May 22, but looking at the BioWare site, they still list it as TBD, so ... I guess it's TBD.

taffer 03-23-07 06:18 PM

The Mass Effect prequel novel is due out in May. The game is due out sometime after that. Bioware never actually gave an official date. Anything you see on IGN or Gamespot or any other site is just speculation.

Not sure I can justify dropping an additional $30 for a controller I'll never use other than that one game.

Yeah, but if you buy it at CC, you get 1600 pts free.

Or I could just buy a different game and the 1600 points, and save money.

Is it really worth paying $90 for this game? Yes, the controller comes with it, but it's not like you can use that controller for another game.

RichC2 03-24-07 12:06 AM

It's worth every cent. It was easily my most played Playstation 2 game, and it had a ton of competition, the only game to rival it ... Guitar Hero I.

Yes, yes & yes! I know people who bought a PS2 just for this game. So you're looking at $200+ for a single game. The 360 version is going to have DLC, so you're looking at more bang for your buck.

If you're skeptical about it, go play it at Best Buy or something, or better yet, find a friend that has it. There's nothing better than rocking out with a friend. It's just an all-around great game, and I've been playing GH1 and GH2 almost daily for the past year and a half.

Amen. Guitar Hero is worth every penny.

When I heard the initial buzz and saw it in the stores, I thought it was quite silly and never imagined playing it. But then my nephew bought it and I gave it a go.

Wow. Tons of fun, and this from a 40 year old "non-gamer". I think it is one of those games that has to be played to be understood.

Every gamer and non-gamer I know that has tried it and has enjoyed the heck out of it.

lordwow 03-24-07 07:57 AM

Dammit, the Gears of Wars:CE was $40 at Amazon for about 5 minutes this morning... at 4AM EST

Josh H 03-24-07 11:16 AM

Yes GHII is definitely worth the money. It does suck a bit that the 360 version is $10 more than the PS2 and still has a wired controller, but I guess the downloadable content will help offset that.

It also has 10 more songs than the PS2 version, so that's just about the price difference right there.

Supermallet 03-24-07 01:32 PM

10 more songs plus it sounds like downloadable content out of the box.

Shagrath 03-24-07 04:09 PM

In the newest Game Informer, there's an article about DLC, and it seems that Microsoft is really stingy with developers putting out free content. I've read a bit on other forums, and it seems that Bizarre initially wanted to make Geometry Wars free, but MS wouldn't let them, and also Epic has a big update for Gears in mind, but they only want to do it if it's free.

I totally don't mind paying for content, but if it was intended to be free, it should be free.

Still dissappointed about the news, as I can't bring myself to shell out more than $250-300 tops for a game console and it looks like there's no price drop coming anytime soon.

even better deal if you get a 10% off dell coupon from ebay. premium 360 and gears of war for $360.

I'm still amazed by the awesome-ness that surrounds Armored Core 4. I really can't think of a single game I've been more impressed with since Ninja Gaiden for the original xbox.

Not only do I find this game amazing, but it has to be one of the only games I don't mind getting my arse handed to me.

Trust me, I know what it's like to stand alone when I'm into a game. Dvdtalkers like what they likes and that's all that they likes...

My Stand alone Lovefest:

Star Trek: Legacy
Star Wars:Battlefront I and II
Lost Planet

KurrptSenate 03-26-07 08:30 AM

well, 2 really close friends of mine picked up the game (one was my brother) and they are both in love with it as well.

The learning curve would probably put some people off at first, but now it seems second nature for me.

I liked SW : BF 1&2 as well as Lost Planet (1 player mode)

I really liked the Legacy demo, but I am also a ST geek. I'm just waiting for it to pricedrop.

Yeah, I think the learning curve for the controls turned off the average ADD gamer. It looks amazing, sounds amazing, and is tons of fun if you can hang with it. But you know that....

Decadance 03-26-07 01:48 PM

I own Legacy and must say it is fun once ya get past learning the controls, however I have too many games right now and haven't gone to deeply into it.
