Another new Wii channel is coming!

LOS ANGELES, California (Hollywood Reporter) -- Nintendo Co. Ltd is developing a new channel for its Wii console that will allow gamers to compare their Miis -- customized virtual avatars that people can play in Wii video games.
During a speech at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, Nintendo game creator Shigero Miyamoto said the channel, to launch soon, will enable gamers not only to share their custom avatars, but to vote on them in popularity contests, adding another level of stickiness to the online functionality of Nintendo's $250 next-generation console.
Wii also has channels that deliver real-time news and weather to gamers, who can also purchase and download classic Nintendo, Sega, Neo Geo and TurboGrafix 16 games for $5 to $10 each.
Miyamoto, the creator of such game characters as Donkey Kong, Mario and Link, pointed out that the video game industry, including himself, has been wrong for years.
He noted that with each new console, controls became more complex and games more difficult to play. The games business was alienating the very audience they were trying to attract.
But the success of Nintendo DS and Wii, Miyamoto said, shows that simple, fun gameplay experiences, not high-definition graphics and photorealism, are the keys to growing the video game audience. Both consoles have been sold quickly at retail.
Nintendo DS, with games like "Nintendogs" and "Brain Age," has attracted nontraditional gamers and hardcore fans with its dual touch-screen pads. Wii, which allows players to interact physically with games like "Wii Sports" and "Excite Truck," has opened gaming up to more female players and older gamers.
Miyamoto said the first new "Mario" game for Wii, "Super Mario Galaxy," is due this year.

Also is there a final date for Mario Party 8 yet? I've heard June, May, April, any ideas?

According to the official site for Battalion Wars 2, it will have online play:
Online Multiplayer: The battle wages online in three modes: Assault, Skirmish and Co-op. Fight with or against others in land, sea and air combat.

There's a company that's been releasing English translated MSX games recently.. http://www.woomb.net/, apparently the company they are partnered with is the company responsible for handling the MSX Virtual Console in Japan. So, it certainly seems like a possibility that these games may end up on our shores and a good number of them have never been released here on other systems.

Tiger Woods got an 7.5, 8.0, 6.5 in EGM. As for controls they complain about the lack for putting and the back swing being shacky sometimes and causing problems but overall seem to dig it. There's a normal analog swing option as well for those that don't like the motion control
Other Wii scores:
Sonic: 7.5, 6.0, 6.0
Kororinpa: Marble Mania: 7.5, 7.0, 7.5
SSX Blur: 5.5, 4.5, 6.5
Wing Island: 3.0, 4.0, 4.0 (Shame of the Month)

If the normal analog swing is there I will consider getting it, however, if its identical to the Xbox version with normal analog swing I forgot I already own Tiger 07.
Having played Sonic I agree with the guys giving it 6.0. It really is only a good game when compared to the other Sonic disasters. The reviewers at EGM are pretty much mirroring my feelings about the Wii game lineup to this point. Very, very underwhelmed with Wiicontrols in 3rd party games.

Yeah, I agree they've been spot on. I've not bought anything other than Zelda at launch, and don't plan to buy anything until Super Paper Mario.
I just don't have the time or money to waste on mediocre post launch games. I'm doing a good job of avoiding falling into the trap of buying these titles that snagged me in past console launches.

If Tiger Woods gets good reviews, I'll definately consider buying it, otherwise Super Paper Mario will be my next Wii purchase.
I still haven't played Rayman or Elebits though. Or Red Steel, for that matter.

Tecmo Bowl contains twelve teams, each equipped with four plays. Most teams have two running plays and two passing plays. The exceptions are San Francisco and Miami who have three passing plays and one running play, and Los Angeles (Raiders), who have three running plays.
Tecmo, Inc. was not able to get the NFL's consent to use real team names. As a result, the teams in the game are identified solely by their home city or state. However, each roster conveniently mimics that of the NFL team based out of the same city or state.
The teams mimicked in the game are the Indianapolis Colts, the Miami Dolphins, the Cleveland Browns, the Denver Broncos, the Seattle Seahawks, the Los Angeles Raiders, the Washington Redskins, the San Francisco 49ers, the Dallas Cowboys, the New York Giants, the Chicago Bears, and the Minnesota Vikings. These teams were chosen because they are the teams that went to the playoffs that year.

The one thing I forgot about this game is that, unlike Super Tecmo Bowl, there is no season mode. Oh well, I guess I'll have to be content with rushing for 600+ yards with Bo.......in one game.

I've really been looking forward to Tiger '07, I just hope the controls aren't as dreadful as some reviews have indicated. I'll probably pick it up this weekend.
Tecmo Bowl....I'll be getting as soon as I get home tonight! Then I can tell my son, who's used to all the fancy graphics of Madden, etc. that this is the way we played back in my day. Hey, it looks a heck of a lot better then the Atari 2600 sports titles!
