apparently that Pokemon Wii is the first online game for the Wii, and also allows you to connect your DS to the Wii, as well as transfer your DS character to your Wii.

Fukking A, ill probably have to buy it strictly out of curiosity

To me, it looks like both of those lists are pretty scarce. I know that there are not a lot of good games out for the Wii right now, but my DS backlog is well over 5 games. There are a few GC games that I still haven't played either. (Eternal Darkness and BG&E)

As far as Pokémon goes, I've managed to stay interested by only playing the initial games on each system.. which means I've played the original GB game and the original GBA game. Time Ace looks like it's getting poor previews from the early build of the game.. I listed it based on its premise of sounding like an update to Konami's awesome arcade game, Time Pilot.. might have to mark that as a "maybe" now. I'll try the online Diner Dash to see if it's interesting after work.

Looks sparse, but that's only through, what, July?

Yeah, and it's not even complete as I just noticed that Mario Strikers isn't on the Wii list.

Meh.

Planet Puzzle League is the only one that I'm interested in on the list (assuming that it's the DS Tetris Attack/Pokemon Puzzle League).

Looking like a slow first half of the year for me, but I guess that's a good thing as I won't have a lot of time for games until July anyway with my school schedule.

chris_santucci 03-08-07 10:35 AM

It's the best-selling console on the market and it's in short supply to say the least. I doubt that release list will remain sparse.

Yep, me too. Any word of if it will communicate with Diamond/Pearl?

Yes, that's kind of the point of the game, actually. ;)

slop101 03-08-07 11:06 AM

Have I mentioned that I have a massive boner waiting for Super Paper Mario?

It might be the only worthwhile game on that list, but at least it comes out first.

CreatureX 03-08-07 11:17 AM

Here is what I'll be getting!

Fucking A. One of the reasons I'm getting a Wii ;)

KurrptSenate 03-08-07 11:54 AM

yea, its specifically that new diamond/pearl that allows you to transfer your character.

I really don't anything about either the DS title, nor the Wii, but Ill probably wind up getting both for the "suppose" of it

Ocelot 03-08-07 11:57 AM

Is that another Paper Mario game, i.e. RPG? I don't really like it on the GC... i wanna be able to control Mario like the Mario Bros games. If it's a RPG, i'm not getting it for my Wii... Pokemon for Wii? Maybe for the kids, i'll play something else...

Josh H 03-08-07 12:01 PM

See above, Ocelot.

This one is different, as its just a platfomer with some minor RPG elements (i.e. Mario doesn't have all his abilities at the outset--e.g. you can't even run at the start of the game--you earn them as you go).

grim_tales 03-08-07 12:05 PM

Hey,

Sorry for going over this again ;) But I've heard more speculation about GoldenEye coming to the Wii VC (or X Box Live...?) or both.

Goldeneye 007 is the game every proper N64 fan wants to see running in slick hi-res on the Wii's Virtual Console, but with all the licensing issues, can it ever happen?

Can any of Rare's own franchises appear on the VC? It's the question that we all want to know, so one avid rare fan took the next step by posting on a Q&A page on Rareware's website. And here's Rare's response in full:

"This is where we finally edge into territory that could see Scribes neutron bombed from management level. The only Rare-developed title on Virtual Console right now is the original Donkey Kong Country, and unofficially there's a strong likelihood that its sequels will follow.

Advertisement:
"But the Donkey Kong series of games is a Nintendo-owned franchise starring an established Nintendo character, whereas something like Banjo isn't (and even Diddy Kong Racing is less clear-cut), so it's nowhere near as easy to call.

"Especially when you also consider the existence of Xbox Live Arcade. So right now, the best answer we can offer (for either download service) is 'it's possible'. I like your sausage casserole mix, by the way."

Random sausage casserole reference aside, that's the state of play, so we can continue to dream.

Elsewhere on the Q&A page Rare's representative spoke more specifically about Goldeneye, explaining that it's "caught up in a convoluted web of rights", but that this "doesn't mean it won't happen, just that a lot of people with a lot of different perspectives are involved."

Who do we have to kidnap to make it happen, Rare? Just name names.
http://www.computerandvideogames.com....php?id=159295

The fact that Diddy Kong Racing is coming to the DS could make it a wee bit more likely, I won't hold my breath though, as of course Nintendo, Microsoft, Rare, and Activision will have to battle it out re; GoldenEye.

Years ago when nintendo asked Rare to make donkey kong country, rare created other characters ie. kremlins, diddy, king r krooll etc
These characters have appeared in more games since and have become apart of the donkey kong universe and nintendo property (as in nintendo still use these characters in its games post the sale of Rare)

Now when Rare made DKR they did the same, creating characters for, which is still the donkey kong universe, these included two main ones
'Banjo' & 'Conker'. Now fast forward to Rares sale.

Rare have made another Conker game and a Banjo game is on its way for the xbox and the 360 respectively.

Banjo/Conker are Rare IP's right  Maybe the DKR game won't include Banjo, Conker etc :)

Josh H 03-08-07 12:08 PM

I doubt we'll see Goldeneye anywhere anytime soon due to all the rights issues.

I honestly can't say I care, the game doesn't hold up well at all. I played the absolute shit out of this back in the day, but it's pretty terrible by todays standards.

Now, if they can get shit worked out to do a full on remake for the 360, I'd be very interested.

spinning plates 03-08-07 02:00 PM

the videos for SPM look awesome. no doubt i'm getting that. another massive boner over here.

darkside 03-08-07 02:27 PM

Miyamoto's speech was a snoozer, but we already knew Nintendo was blocked from discussing anything new. Stupid stock sale.

kurupt 03-08-07 02:44 PM

Super Paper Mario looks like the best game to come out in the next couple months on any system.

1up bloggers even mentioned people leaving. WTF is that about?! It makes me weep.

I would never walk out on a legend, but from what I read it sounded pretty damn boring. They did show Super Mario Galaxy and confirm its a 2007 title. He also mentioned some lame Mii voting channel. Sony pretty much mopped the floor with Nintendo at this conference. However, it wasn't Nintendo's fault. Supposedly that stock sale blocked them from talking about new games.
