This one really won't be similar though. Paper Mario 1 & 2 where "lite" RPGs with some minor platform elements.

This is a sheer Mario platformer with some minor RPG elements.

same here. RPGs aren't my thing though. I wonder just how much of this game is.

Ok. Still.. I'm interested in the series, even if they're slightly different.

This one is supposedly very little RPG. It's a platformer and you earn abilities (i.e. you can't run at the outset).

They're all great games, just pointing out the difference (which doesn't seem to be slight) to show that you don't have to play the old ones before this one and people that didn't like the past two should still give this one a whirl.

But buy all means shell out the $20 for 1000 Year Door. It's a great game.

Sometimes it is better to not "open your mouth and remove all doubt."

Man...I didn't care at all about Super Paper Mario until seeing that video. Now, it's a must-buy. That looks awesome.

This has probably been discussed before, but I was thinking that there are actually a lot of things that are possible with the Wii mote that we haven't really heard much about yet. The one that comes to my mind is a RTS game for the Wii. One of the reasons these tend to work better on PCs is because of the use of the mouse. However, because the wii-mote can act as mouse (to some degree), it seems that it would be pretty easy to develop a RTS game for the Wii with some pretty nice controls. The Wii-mote could as a mouse with the A as the left click and the B as the right click. The nunchuck could be used to mimic the arrow keys and some other button pushes (with the C and Z buttons). I'd love to see a good RTS for the Wii.

Obviously there is still some talk about seeing a good FPS come to the wii with the Wii-mote as the aiming device. If done right, it should be good. I'm anxious to see MP3.

But I was thinking that while the motion controls on the Wii are nice, I think the Wii-mote actually opens up a lot more possibilites for it's use as a mouse/pointer.

Even Lemmings would probably be easier to use with a Wii-mote than a regular controller.

Same here. I've discovered that RPGs just aren't my thing, but I don't mind some RPG elements in my games...Castlevania comes to mind.

Anyway, hearing that this is a platformer with some RPG elements made my day. It really looks like a lot of fun.

And a repeat...if you are looking for a hidden gem in the Gamecube library, seriously, Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy is a really good game. Gameplay is Ratchet meets Zelda with Egyptian trappings. I think I like it better than Beyond Good and Evil...though the story isn't as good. Well worth the $10-15 it goes for now.

I gave up and bought Mortal Kombat Armageddon on XBox at the Amazon 60% off sale. I don't want to know what controls they'll give it on the Wii.

That Wii list is a big let down. Paper Mario is the only sure thing I will want. Hopefully a couple of the other games will be good as well. The DS list isn't much better. Definitely the slow time of year.

While I agree the Wii list looks sparse.. the DS list has Pokémon, Diner Dash, Touch the Dead, Planet Puzzle League, Zendoku, Time Ace and Rune Factory as possible good titles. The Dragon Ball Z card RPG could be decent as well.. but that's certainly a "take the side of caution" game.

Agreed.

Luckily, I have the GC Paper Mario to play through first in my backlog, and just grabbed both Castlevania DS games, so they should keep me entertained for a while.

well, is it the CCG, sort of like Yu Gi Oh, or is it like metal gear acid?

I'm trying to resist getting pulled into another Pokemon game, but I'm sure I will fail. I'll read up on the other games. I'm not a fan of Diner Dash on the PC, but maybe this DS version will be better.
