So did anybody get the Nyko charger thing? Work as it should?

Sonic & the Secret Rings - Pretty good. Controls aren't perfect, but it is a solid little title. My first Sonic game. The layout of how you progress through the game is less than ideal, but it is doable. You have to replay each area 10x with a different objective each time.

Rayman: Raving Rabbids
- was very fun. Good for some silly multiplayer action. Although not all games are simultaneous play.

Wario Ware: Smooth Moves - is decent. Not my cup of tea, but it did use the Wiimote pretty creatively. There are a bunch of people here that like it.

Wii Play - again, more mini-games, but worth it if you need an extra controller.

Madden 07 - Pretty fun. I'm not a huge football game fan but running the offense was very fun. Defense, not so much.

Others:
the Godfather: Blackhand Edition - Kurrpt Senate has praised this game so much that others are slowly picking it up. I'm going to wait for some more feedback from other users. :)

SSX Blur - Very mixed reviews. Supposedly has a very steep learning curve to the more difficult tricks but it seems the payoff is worth it from those that take the time to master it.

Super Paper Mario - Comes out Tuesday and has been getting steady 9's in early reviews. Sounds like they took the Paper Mario franchise and mashed it with the original Super Mario Bros. series. Looks very cool.

The first 5 games I've owned/played and would say none are worth more than $30. So buy used or on sale with coupons/gift cards. Out of the above list though if you are itching to buy something, I have had more fun with Excite Truck than any of rest. Sonic is about as good though. I listed them in order of my preference.

A belated thanks for the list, Michael.

Anybody else have an opinion on these or other titles?

Paper Mario is single player, right?

If you had to pick 1 newer (out in 2007) good multiplayer title, which would you choose?

DodgingCars 04-11-07 09:20 AM

What kind of multiplayer? Warioware is a great party game. For 2 players... I think Excite Truck is 2 player and I liked that game. I've heard good things about Madden, but haven't played.

KurrptSenate 04-11-07 09:33 AM

I got rid of wario ware. I liked the darts a lot, but it just didn't have much appeal for me in one player mode after you beat the game in an hour or so

as michael has stated, I feel Godfather is the most enjoyable Wii game as of now. The game is long (about 30+ hours). The controls are really top notch (from choking a guy, to using the Wiimote to shoot a guy in the face/hand)

Wii play is a must, IMO, considering it comes a controller, and some of the mini-games are pretty decent

Rayman is decent, but I prefer Super Monkey Ball, personally. Though, not all of the 50 games in the disc are worth your time, there are quite a few that are very good, plus it has the normal monkey ball game most people are used to

I guess just "fun" MP games - quickies.

Unless there are any good MP games that have a co-op mode (like a Ghost Recon or Gears of War...though obviously they won't be that graphic on Wii)?

Is this Godfather much (any?) different than the PC version? I had that...if only the controls are different, I'm not sure how much extra I'd get out of it.

i've got 2 of them waiting at home for me. i'll let you know how it goes..

Dammit - I was really hoping Wiis would start showing up again in April. The ads for next week don't appear to have the consoles, and I think the last time the Targets near me got them in was at the beginning of March.

All of the times I would have waited in the morning for a store to open happened on a bad weekend for me (travel, work stuff, etc.) - for the last few weekends I would have been able to, and they haven't been around for weeks. I can't jump on online deals before they are gone (I don't seem to see them until it's over) and I refuse to pay more than retail.

Guess I'll just keep trying.

Croissant! 04-11-07 03:25 PM

I put in Paper Mario and the Wii did a really quick system update...anyone else have this happen or know what it was? I assume Paper Mario had nothing to do with it since no one else has commented.

Ahh--just found the Paper Mario thread. I guess it's mentioned in the manual.

Supermallet 04-11-07 05:17 PM

Odd, mine didn't do a system update with Paper Mario.

pinata242 04-11-07 09:02 PM

Final Internet Channel is up for download. I had to do a System Update for the Shop Channel before I could get it.

I like it much better than the trial. The zooming is better and you can use a built-in search for Google or Yahoo!

I sort of like the automatic zoom since when I am fully zoomed in, I can press + somewhere on the screen to recenter there.

Toolbar is always available at the bottom with quick links to some of the common functions. The one thing I wish it had that it doesn't is a "Search this Page" function. Could easily be useful for something like gamefaqs.com (but even that would only be useful if you switch between the game and the browser on the fly ;))

Anyway, get it while it's free!

DodgingCars 04-11-07 10:33 PM

Better.. But still doesn't support newest flash. :(

DarthMarino 04-11-07 11:38 PM

The trial version felt sluggish. You couldn't click unless you held the remote perfectly still. This especially caused a problem if you were playing a flash game that required you to click a lot of things. To my surprise, this was fixed for the final version so I'm happy with it.

I'm finding the opposite to be truth. The trial version worked smoothly and flawlessly but the "final" version is very sensitive and jerky. The flash support seems to have some serious problems with some games that worked perfectly with the trial version but now have redraw and control issues. :(

I don't understand having to do all these system updates myself. I thought that was the point of Wii Connect 24? Didn't they say something of waking up to game demos or something? Everything seems pretty manual.

pinata242 04-12-07 09:23 AM

But it isn't forced either. With memory fixed at 512MB (currently), I can't say that I would want everything pushed down to me. I don't want the latest Pokemon demo, but I'm fine with a notice that the demo is available.

Not everyone cares about the Internet Channel and even fewer about the Everybody Votes Channel. You should have the option as to what additional features are placed on your Wii.

In theory I agree, but in reality I don't want to go to my wii to find out it is bricked and have no idea why. At least if it happens while I'm updating I know what happened, when it happened and why.

I would at least like the choice of automatic system updates or not. What is the point of putting the system on standby instead of off?

pinata242 04-12-07 12:53 PM

Are you talking about system/firmware updates or new channels or both? Updates I can see them wanting to push automatically. Channels I can how the users would want to control that.

We're only a few months into this console's life. We don't have online yet. We don't have DS downloads. We don't have Wii demos. We don't have Animal Crossing to visit other peoples' towns while they sleep. We don't have the things they mentioned in specifically talking about the benefits of the 24 part of WiiConnect24. Hell, maybe those'll never come to fruition anyway.

Give it time. But, right now, no - I don't see much use in the WiiConnect24 as a service of standby other than the extremely rare blue light notification of a message from Nintendo or one of your friends.

slop101 04-12-07 01:12 PM

I did the internet update, but I notice NO difference whatsoever from the old one.

Even though I went through the update screen and progerss bar, I can't even tell if anything changed, or if I'm supposed to do anything different - the internet channel looks and operates the same as it alway had - or is this a new internet channel I'm not seeing?

You have to go to the Wii Shop (Then wares) and download the update to the browser itself.

Patman 04-12-07 02:02 PM

Is a skill level of 2400 possible on Wii Tennis?

The answer appears to be "Yes!"

I'm at 2399. Don't think I'll be getting 2400 anytime soon...

DodgingCars 04-12-07 02:15 PM

That's determination. I'd never even try.

pinata242 04-12-07 02:22 PM

Good God! I can't imagine why Wii Tennis has lost all appeal to him.

tbird2340 04-12-07 02:36 PM

When are they going to come out with a gun controller? It would make the target shooting games much funner (WiiPlay) and would also be awesome if they came out with some games like Virtua Cop to use it with..
