I'm wondering if I should be worried, or if these are isolated incidents that just happened to occur in a short time span... http://www.nintendowiifanboy.com/200...w-vc-features/ Wii Warm Up: On the new VC features Posted Apr 1st 2007 10:00AM by JC Fletcher Filed under: Features So, not sure if you guys noticed, but overnight Nintendo updated the Virtual Console, adding something that a lot of us have been clamoring for: realistic glitches. We personally were a little turned off by the eerie perfection of the VC, and we're glad Nintendo addressed our concern by adding random graphical errors and occasional blinking screens. It's a much more authentic experience if we have to turn the console on and off a bunch of times, and clean it out with alcohol before playing. It seems that it was an April Fools joke? Chris |
I ignored anything posted on 4/1. That glitch thing wasn't even a very good joke.

Would have made more sense for a DS compilation of NES games what with the microphone you could blow into and all.

I think the VC prices are reasonable, personally, though I wouldn't mind seeing the N64 titles for about $7-8. But it's not enough to make me not buy them. |

I had fond memories of the NES version of TMNT until I played it again a few years ago. I didn't think it aged very well. I might give it another try though. Anyone know anything about Dragon's Curse? I thought it actually sounds kinda interesting. |

It's a common problem (and solution) that I've seen around the net. It's apparently just a networking issue. Thanks for the tip, I'll try that out next time... |
I must HIGHLY suggest Dragon's Curse on the Virtual Console to everyone. It's an awesome little action/adventure game and the prequel to the upcoming VC title Wonder Boy in Monster World. Dragon's Curse is also the model I'm using for a game I'm making!

Mario Strikers Charged Online
Add another game to the short list of upcoming Wii titles with WiFi Connection support. Mario Strikers Charged will feature both Ranked and Unranked matches for players all over the world to compete in. Ranked games track your wins and losses, calculating your standing on leaderboards (We can already imagine the problems with early disconnecters.). The Unranked mode allows you to set up a quick round with your friends. Nintendo hasn't announced a date for the US release yet, but Mario Strikers Charged will hit UK shelves on May 25th. Having previewed the wacky soccer title at GDC, we can't wait to see how well the Wii remote has been integrated and how fleshed out the game's online support will be. |
well, i know for a fact that nintendo ruined one of my most anticipated, online titles from them, due to the problem with jerks disconnecting while losing, before the match actually "ends"
If that continues to be a problem, i will continue to either abstain from purchasing titles, or take em back when i find it. Sure, it won't bother nintendo, but it will make me want to pull out my hair |

and I whole-heartidly agree with that...
I feel if you disconnect from a match for any reason, and the opponent doesn't accept a draw, should result in a forfeit. If people have a problem with that, they really should get a better connection, or just not play ranked games |
I have no problem with that. Shit happens that are sometimes out of your control. I could be playing online for hours with no issues than my infant wakes up for no reason screaming. I have to bolt so that she doesn't wake up her sister.
Like I said, I'll take the 'L' but you have to understand that not everyone is trying to cheat when they quit, or are sore losers. Shit happens. |
well, when its an isolated incident, I can completely understand, and disregard that instance as some random occurence...
going back to my example, having it happen 3 times in a row was enough for me to last a life time. the sad thing is, it seemed VERY common place with that metroid prime hunters, due to the fact it kept rank, and would actually take stars away. fukking sucked |
for you wii fans. Dont know if its already posted but
http://geekologie.com/2007/03/chrome-wii.jpg "XCMLive is selling a chrome replacement shell for the Wii called the Chrome I-Case for $37.00. It apparently just snaps on, and looks like it cost $2,000 so that's cool. Plus if you ever lose your mirror it's nice to know you've got a really really shiny Wii lying around." http://geekologie.com/tags.php?tags=mods |

I haven't had my Wii freeze up, but I have noticed on some games some weird temporary "artifacting" on parts of the screen. I distinctly recall it happening on Rayman and WarioWare, possibly a few other titles. It's not enough to ruin gameplay, but it is enough to distract and worry me a little bit. I have the Wii connected using the regular cables through an Onkyo receiver to the TV, and haven't noticed this on any other device. Anyone else encounter this?

they must have issued some kind of update for the game then. when I played it when it came out, it wasn't like that at all
|
Actually, it was like that since launch, you may just not have noticed.
Oh disconnectors, how we loathe thee and thy cowardly response to defeat. According to an interesting interview hype piece at the official Nintendo site, Metroid Prime: Hunters will be keeping track of those who disconnect from a Wi-Fi game in an effort to avoid tarnishing their online records. Mario Kart DS was another game that fell victim to this "strategy", a fact that has encouraged Nintendo to implement and liberally dish out "chump points". "We track a stat that the game calls Connection Percentage, but that I've been calling the Chump Meter. It keeps track of anyone who boots off. So, if I'm beating some kid and he tries to disconnect to avoid the loss, he'll be punished for that. When he turns the game back on, the game will know what happened and it will then hand out some Chump Points." The game will also be able to distinguish between intentional disconnections and the forgivable ones caused by your router unexpectedly exploding. This is certainly excellent news that will soothe many a temper, especially considering that Metroid Prime: Hunters is likely to be one of the most aggressively competitive games on Nintendo's Wi-Fi service thus far. |
i'd bet money it wasn't
according to that article, it seems people, like me, were extremely angry over it, which enacted change. |
Well the good news is that Nintendo seems to know about the problem and agrees with your frustration.
|
i was really, really hoping they would to be honest.
maybe Ill have to get that game back now |
Go Nintendo is reporting that Europe is (probably) getting Silver, Blue and Pink remotes and nunchucks soon. I remember the pictures of the blue ones from last E3 looking quite sharp, so I hope these match that (and look that good in real life). Luckily, I've still managed to survive on only purchasing one extra remote so far (I've got three total, but one is not mine and was left in my care along with a classic controller until the owner actually got a Wii).
