Wii - Part Thrii

Yeah, I'm just skeptical that the controller is capable of detecting the range of movements required. As I've stated before, the controller doesn't seem capable of the near 1:1 accuracy that would be required to differentiate jabs, hooks, upper cuts, crosses etc with 100% accuracy.
Even more skeptical over how even the simple array of punches in Wii boxing aren't recognized consistently.

I'd want a Wii Boxing to allow (require?) 2 Wiimotes instead of a wired Wiimote/Nunchuck pair. I think it would not only allow for greater accuracy, but would certainly allow greater freedom of movement.

They couldn't salvage any of the saved data from my old Wii (over 70 hours of time put in...thank god I atleast had just beaten Zelda) yet in the paperwork they sent with the console, there was NO apology or any other offer of compensation. I called them today and told them I was unsatisfied with just an apology over the phone as my time/effort that was lost is on Nintendo's hands not mine. I felt that a free game would be reasonable compensation. After the CSR spoke with his supervisor, I was only offered a classic controller and a Zelda strategy guide (note the irony considering I already did everything in the game already) and told that they were unable to offer a regular wii remote, a game, or even virtual console points without giving any real good reason. I asked to speak with a manager but they were busy with other customers at the moment, so I'm currently awaiting a call back. If you guys could re-add me to your address book (my new Wii friend code is in my sig) and I will do like-wise. If any of you could send me celebrity Miis again, I'd appreciate it
Wow.... that's just the opposite of what I've heard everyone say about their customer service. It's definitely BS that they ran you through all that and made YOU jump through hoops. The turn around time is what I'd have the biggest problem with. I would call again and speak to a manager.
A REAL customer oriented service department would have sent you a Wii with preloaded games, or a bonus controller packed, etc... without you having to ask.
Good luck and keep us posted! Regardless though, I am glad you got a Wii that works. Enjoy!

Do most of you guys leave the system in standby with the Wi-fi on or turn it off completely? I'm wondering how much risk for damage there is as the Wi-fi stays pretty warm all the time its on in the system.
I'm enjoying the Wii so far, but I am finding the controls lacking on my big screen for games requiring pointing. Those play much better on my 4:3 TV in the bedroom. Smaller area to move through I guess.
I bought 4000 Wii Points and the classic controller today using Best Buy coupons and realized I wanted nothing in the online store. Hope they start bringing over unreleased Japanese titles and new content into the virtual store.

I'd say the controls are at about 90% though... I'd say Boxing is closer to 60%. It's frustrating. I have noticed though with some practice I've even got Boxing to respond better over time, but it's still too unreliable.
Anyway... back to golf. Wii Golf is making me excited for Tiger Woods on the Wii.

I noticed that the voting channel shows the newest question on the menu icon. I didn't notice if it was there before I connected to the channel, but that was neat. Especially since I remember seeing that the weather channel was supposed to do the same thing, but never has.

When I turn it off I sometimes have some problems with the network, usually have to turn the router off and back on to get it working again, but beats it being hot and using electric all the time when its just gathering dust next to my PS2 which has been getting a lot of play lately.

I usually turn mine off about once a week just for the hell of it. Been doing this since about launch and haven't had any problems.
But as Josh said, sometimes it takes a while for me to get the Wii connected back to the Internet.

Hello Brent,
Your Wii Points Card has been shipped Today, you can
expect to recieve it in the mail in just a few days.
If you have any questions, feel free to reply to this email.
**** UPDATE Feb 12, 2007: ****
We've still had no luck getting ahold of any Wii Point cards. Last time we talked to
Nintendo they said there is still no ETA, but people can buy the points online using
a credit card on their console.
So instead of the Wii Points card, we're sending you a Visa gift card. You can use it
at any retailer you'd like (but not all online retailers, some use address verification
that won't work with gift cards). If you'd still like the Wii Points though, here's
what you need to do.
1) Go to the shopping channel on your Wii
2) Click Add Wii Points > Buy Wii Points with a credit card > 2000 > Visa
3) Enter the Visa gift card's number, expiration date and security code (the three-
digit number on the back)
4) For the billing information, use the address of the bank that we ordered the gift
cards from. City: Plymouth, State: MN, Zip: 55447, County: Hennipen.
That's it, you now have Wii Points you can use to purchase Virtual Console games.
Sorry again for the delay, we hoped we could have resolved this sooner.
Thank you,
~The LetsPlayWii.com Staff

There might not be a lot of profit in them. Or, do they need to be scanned/activated like gift cards, or are they good to go? If the latter, they might be too much of a loss risk.
I don't have any of the GGC coupons, so that's not an issue for me, and any bonus back from BB RZ would be negated by tax that might not apply online. Then again, I also haven't really wanted to buy any VC games yet. I love the concept, I think the prices are a little high

.I agree it's a little too high. Unfortunately that hasn't stopped me from picking up a couple of them. Still I would buy a hell of a lot more and probably spend more money if it were cheaper. I think halving the price is much more fair. But then again it seems to be successful so I really don't see them doing that.

I have yet to see a Wii in-store but today i saw a ton of Wii accessories instock at my local Toys R Us. They had probably 20 Wii points cards, classic controllers, remotes, and nunchucks. It actually was the first time i ever saw a Wii section that large.

Since launch I've purchased 10 cards and bought 2000 points once through the Wii Shop Channel (couldn't find point cards instock). I usually buy the cards at Best Buy with the GGC and reward zone points so I save a little. I'm a VC Monday addict.
