1. Gears of War (Xbox 360 - I'm not hyper concerned with ultra long games, just as long as they're highly entertaining while they last, this one came through in spades.)

2. Guitar Hero 2 (PS2 - Could be my most played series of all time.)

3. Zelda: Twlight Princess (Wii)
4. Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter (X360)
5. Oblivion (X360/PC)
6. Final Fantasy XII (PS2)
7. Wii Sports (Wii)
8. Rainbow Six: Vegas (X360)
9. Okami (PS2)
10. Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin (NDS)

Just outside of the top 10: Elite Beat Agents (NDS), New Super Mario Bros (NDS), Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops (PSP), Fight Night Round 3 (X360)

In no particular order:

Zelda: Twilight Princess (Wii)
Gears of War
Viva Pinata
Elite Beat Agents
Every Extend Extra
New Super Mario Brothers
Guitar Hero II
Final Fantasy XII
Yoshi's Island DS
Mega Man Powered Up
Yggdra Union

Yeah, I had a pretty great year of gaming.

I've not yet. I did love International Superstar Soccer on the N64 though which was a game in the series.

Not having the real teams and players is a downer for me, as I'm a pretty casual fan when it comes to sports video games.

Top 10 of 2006

Oblivion (360). Absolutely worth not only the price of the game but the price of the console. Impeccable.
New Super Mario Bros. (DS). The best new Mario platformer since Super Mario World for the SNES over ten years ago. This game's life is indefinitely extended by the collection of included minigames.
Armadillo Run (PC). I don't play PC games but this was just a phenomenal game and the best physics-based puzzler I've ever played.
Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime (DS). Addictive and fun.
Ninety-Nine Nights (360). The most underrated game of the year. It is technically impeccable and throws a few RPG elements into what should've been described as an action game. The fun in button-mashing returns.
Test Drive Unlimited (360). Another underrated game. Does more new things with the racing genre than any game in the last five years, on any platform.
Yoshi's Island (DS). As good as the original, which is still one of the best platformers of all time. A perfect port in spirit, but all new content.
Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter (360). Fun single player, fun multiplayer and it came at a time when 360 players were thirsty for new stuff.
Viva Piñata (360). It is a shame this game only sold 42,000 units on release. Highly recommended for fans of The Sims, Animal Crossing, or any pet-based game. Astoundingly deep for fans of elaborate RTS/resource planning games.
Wii Sports (Wii). The single biggest innovation in gaming since Xbox Live. The jury is still out on replay value.

I couldn't find a copy of it until '06, so it was an 06 game for me. Ah well.

I buy too many games used/discounted to put out a list now. I'd probably have to wait until the end of 2007 to put out a 2006 list.<woot>

I didn't play much game in 2006, but I managed to play couple such as Dead Rising, Oblivion, NCAA 07, and few others...

My top 2 rank:

1. Oblivion (360)
2. Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter (360) - through I had struggle with aiming, but I thought it's a great game

1) Zelda: Twilight Princess (Wii)
2) New Super Mario Bros (DS)
3) Wii Sports (Wii)

Unfortunately, I didn't play GoW or Oblivion this year, so I'd assume they'd round out my top 5.

Same here. I played a few, but I think the games I haven't played yet like Zelda, Okami, and Oblivion will be bigger for me.
