Next 360 game-1St Q of 2007?
I'm not sure if it's just me or is new games for the 360 sort of in a stalemate right now. Currently there are a couple of sport titles, a few racing and the usual following with COD, RS-LV, Dead Rising has came to life and of course Gears. I've seen some pretty impressive stuff but it's still a ways off. It's been a pretty quite two weeks on XBox Live with little news, demos or movies. The only ones I've seen mentioned allot are Midway and Lost Planet.
I was going to ask just what game to get since I've been on both RS:LV and Dead Rising topics. Well I saw the sales for Sunday and it appears RS:LV will be the next. But what about 1st Quarter of 2007? For me it may look a bit corny at first but "Earth Defense Force X" looks like it maybe a blast to play. Just the thought of blasting big bugs and big robots in one game with coop sounds as good as hacking up zombies in a mall. I'm still unsure of Lost Planet and I'll wait for the offical reviews on Midway.

Lost Planet comes out in a few weeks and will most likely be amazing. I think some Japanese sites have already reviewed it and gave it good scores.
Bioshock and GRAW 2 both come out around March/April and both look very promising.
Crackdown and Stranglehold both come out sometime in Q1 too. They are more iffy than the other games I mentioned though.

I was googling for the Lost Planet Famitsu review, and apparently Famitsu gave it a 36/40.
Famitsu Lost Planet review
One of the reviewers even mentions it plays like an FPS, but he still gives it a 9/10. That's really amazing when you consider that Japanese gamers hate FPS with a passion.
Famitsu Lost Planet review
Four editors reviewed the game on a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being the best), and here's what they had to say:
1) Cool that it feels like a big-budget sci-fi movie. You'll need to keep collecting Thermal Energy to stay alive, so you'll have to stay in the action at all times. If you find the game too hard, swallow your pride and play it on Easy mode. Playing against players from around the world looks like fun. SCORE = 9
2) Plays pretty much like an orthodox FPS game. The game balance lets you play through the game without much stress. Very inventive in that you have your human weapons and Vital Suit weapons, and you can use them all on foot. The slower movements of the hefty Vital Suits balance out their overwhelming firepower and add to the tension. SCORE = 9
3) From the realism of the snow and air in the environments to the battles that really put you in the middle of the action, this game has it all. Battles against giant enemies and robots are super-exciting. May take some people a little time to get used to the unique controls and gameplay concepts. Story plays out well, with twists and turns throughout the experience. Online multiplayer seems a bit bland, but it's fun to play nonetheless. SCORE = 9
4) Despite the weapon balancing being fine-tuned with the multiplayer in mind, the story mode truly is a blast! Battles with creatures in the extreme conditions are intense and very challenging. The bosses are big, and the pattern-recognition style of boss-conquering is very rewarding. SCORE = 9

I knew about "BioShock" and that just looks wicked all out. It's a mix of Capt. Nemo meets Doom. The trailer looked stunning! It's a 2nd or 3rd quater release. I just pity "any" game that comes out after you-know-what....The "H" game. I may have to play a demo of Lost Planet after all. They had up and running at Best Buy last week. I just know coop play has bitten me with GoW.

The early Metacritc reviews for Lost Planet aren't so stellar (pardon the pun). Sounds like the game is okay for dumb fun, but certainly nothing special. I'm thinking of picking up some winter games on sale and waiting until the next must-have new release.
Having said that, I like the multiplayer demo. It has a loose, fun Star Wars Battlefront-type feel to it.

I've been playing Lost Planet for a week or so and so far it's a solid 8. If Gears and RSV weren't so fresh in my mind it may rate a 9. The on foot action in the begining is a touch slow especially since the human enemy AI is poor, but once the action heats up and there are large aliens and mechs getting thrown at you from every direction, it gets intense. The boss battles are also some of the best in recent history, large frightening creatures that aren't stupid hard (ala General Raam). The graphics and sound are top notch as well.

First Quarter has been a notoriously slow period on all consoles for years. Publishers toss out everything in November in hopes of catching holiday shoppers. Releases will start to pick up again in Feburary, though.
As for the 360, I'm looking forward to playing Fusion Frenzy 2, Crackdown, and Bullet Witch in the next three months.

Yeah, Fusion Frenzy 2. That's been on my radar since it was supposed to be released for the Xbox years ago. You don't need to do too much except make it Live enabled. Hope it's not a $60 game, though.

I don't understand why Famitsu gave Lost Planet a 36/40 and all these American sites are giving the game much lower scores. I thought Famitsu was supposed to be notorious for giving harsh reviews, and a score in the high 30s by them does not happen often at all.

Lost Planet's score was lowered mostly by the Gamepro score. Gamepro, for one reason or another, has always had a thing against the 360... that and have a odd taste in games (They've given high scores to some of the worst games.)
It doesn't have an incredibly high average, but the reviews aren't particularly negative.
And as long as BioShock has half the atmosphere its spiritual predecessor had (System Shock 2) I'm all over it.

January? Sure everyone knows about Lost Planet, but my money is on:
Worms
on the Xbox Live Arcade. I can't wait.
