The main problem is that it's not a Fighting game. So don't buy it if that's what you want. It's mostly a timed obstacle course game with a few fights sprinkled in for shits and giggles so I can't honestly recommended it for purchase. Like MC said, it's a rental.

The worse part is the graphics are great and the few fight are fun with the special moves and the general feel of the turtles so for them to make it 95% running and jumping under a timer sucks.

Playing Bioshock right now on 360. Pretty overrated IMO.

If you are looking at just achievements, it is a 5 hour game.
I agree. It's a nice diversion of a game. Nothing major, but fun enough. With just a few tweaks I think it could have really been special, but as it stands a solid 6 experience.

Just finished that myself.

Now I'm trying to get in the mindset of tackling Gears of War or Bioshock if gamefly sends that out.
As well as continuing my addiction to Super Puzzle Fighter.

Just Finished
Zelda Twilight Princess (Wii) - Not a 10, but pretty darn close. The Zelda formula is near perfect to me. 3d puzzles and adventure elements combined with just enough action for variety or to add urgency to the adventuring. The wolf sections were the only downside to the game IMO.

Lunar Knights (DS) - The game never really clicked with me. I expected better after hearing rumblings about this being somewhat of an underappreciated game. I think I had heard this was a Zelda meets metal gear from EGM, but IMO it lacked the good elements of either. It took the sword elements of Zelda, but left out the adventure elements that really make Zelda a great game.

Donkey Kong Country (GBA) - I remember getting this game when I was younger. It was the game in its day, the most advanced graphics for its time. Now when the graphics don't stand out, I realize the game may have had a hype bubble at the time. Still fun but not great.

Castlevania Symphony of the Night (XBLA) - I can't get enough of the Metroidvanias, I really like the formula.

Bioshock (PC) - Looks great on my new 8800gts, although I don't understand if the ugly manequin looking characters are intentional or a design decision. I don't think it's a 10, but definitely a great game. Amazing atmosphere and art design and really deep story with intriguing themes that go much deeper than the usual video game story cliches. But some things got repetitive (hacking, the choice you make, over and over again), and it didn't step as far outside typical FPS conventions as I thought it would.

Currently Playing
Rainbow Six: Vegas (PC) - I was a little worried about the squad elements, but not too bad so far. The AI seems a little hit or miss, sometimes I will look over at an enemy who's perched behind but completely in my sight, yet he didn't shoot me when he had an easy shot, and he's still hiding behind the wall as I shoot him. When the game works though its great, storming a room from one end with your teammates go through another door is very rewarding.

Hotel Dusk (DS) - Just started, I like the style but that's about as much as I can say at this point.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence (PS2) - About 4 hours in.

Dead Rising (360) - Still early on.

Kind of Playing
Call of Cthulhu (PC) - I just need to get back to this one.

Grand Theft Auto III - Every once in a while I jump in and play a few missions.

On Deck
Too many other games

Just finished Bioshock on the 360. Currently playing Metroid Prime 3 on the Wii.

Bioshock was good, but sort of fell off for me towards the end as I felt I was doing a lot of back tracking.

So far, Metroid is a solid 9.5 out of 10 for me. Wii controls are amazing and the game is on par with the others in the series.

Next up will be Halo 3 probably.

I just finished Darkness on the 360. I loved the black hole power (no sexual references intended), which came rather late in the game. The darklings were very useful, especially the lightkiller darkling. However, the darklings were prone to going off and doing their own thing, from time to time. The story didn't do much for me, mostly because I don't care for mob stories. Overall, I would rate it as a solid 8.5/10 game.

I should get Odin Sphere from Gamefly this week and might dabble with some Viva Pinata in my spare time.

Now playing:
  • Stranglehold: Fun, over-the-top action game. Really having a good time with this one so far.
  • Lair: Not as bad as the reviews would indicate. It's really rough around the edges, but I actually like the controls for the most part.
  • Metroid Prime 3: Incredible game.
  • Brain Age 2: Picked it up for $16. I'll play until I unlock everything and then probably trade it back in since it just doesn't have lasting appeal for me.
  • Picross DS: Outstanding puzzle game, and great on the go.

Recently finished:
  • BioShock: In my mind, this one deserves all the hype it has gotten. I'll be playing it here and there when I get a chance in order to get a few more achievements and hear the audio diaries that I missed on my first playthrough.
  • Stuntman: Ignition (Xbox 360): Rented it, beat it in a few days, and had a lot of fun with it. I might pick it up once it drops below $20 since it seems like something I'd pick up and play every now and again.
  • Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80's: Another rental. An enjoyable appetizer while I wait for Rock Band (and GH3, to a lesser degree).
  • PaRappa the Rapper (PSP): Rented it for the remixes. Most of them were pretty good, but I wish they had added more to this version. Why not throw in UmJammer Lammy and Parappa 2?
  • Gurumin: A Monstrous Adventure: Yet another rental. It's a lighthearted action/platformer with some very minor RPG elements. Pretty easy, but it's fun to play through.

Gave up on:
  • Etrian Odyssey: I think I'm just past the point where I can play Japanese/turn-based RPGs. I loved them back in the day, but these days I have very little patience for leveling up and slogging through areas I've already played through in order to get to the lower floors of the dungeon. I enjoyed the mapmaking, but that was about it. Fortunately it was just a rental.
  • Lunar Knights: Amazingly overhyped by its fans. I enjoyed Boktai, but I found Lunar Knights to be really dull and uninvolving. Ended up trading it in after getting about 3/4 of the way through.
  • Ultimate Ghosts 'N Goblins: Rented this one and enjoyed it, but I had too many other games on my plate and decided to return it early (without finishing it) and move on to other things.

I won't even get into my unfinished/unplayed pile. I think it would make me cry.

It's not a bad game. I just found it pretty dull and didn't really understand the praise for it.

Agreed, while it wasn't a bad game, I had bigger expectations after hearing the praise and comparisons to Zelda and Metal Gear. I also found the weather system tedious.

*shrug*, you can read my minireview/praise above I guess. I imagine there must be others who liked it, it certainly received a lot of critical praise at the time. I suppose if you went in strictly looking for zelda-like puzzles and adventuring (of which there is very little) then you'd be disappointed. But I certainly enjoyed it a ton as a 2d action game, and I found the combat a lot more interesting and rewarding than the 2d zelda games. Especially once you take on the game again in the harder difficulty, you're forced to use the different weapons far more (rather than just the one sword and one gun), and even switch between characters in a single combat. I've been playing the bonus dungeon quite a lot, and as I've been getting to the higher levels I've noticed myself having to find new strategies to beat the same enemies, and overall improved at the game.

I don't know if I would necessarily disagree about the weather system complaint, but it's an improvement not having to play outdoors for sure!

I finally finished Bullet Witch 5 times. Yah, in all difficulties and earning that final 1 point achievement by beating it in HELL. Now I don't ever have to play this game again, although the witch is pretty darn cute
