I know it's not very useful to say this, but I saw my first PS3 yesterday at Target, a single 60GB unit, at around 3pm. I had a 10% off coupon on me, and I stared at the unit for 10 minutes or so, before passing. It ended up selling about 30 minutes later.
I kind of regret not picking it up. I really want to wait until there are some games that I'd like to buy, but I think on blu-ray movies alone, I could get some good use out of it in the mean time.

The Wii is still hard to find, and will remain so for a while.
Talked to a friend that works at EB, and as I said in another thread they're basically telling people that it might take until June to get a Wii.
Why? Because the vast majority of these people are the ones that just walk in during the middle of the day or near closing. There's no way they'll get one for a while. Any shipment of the Wii will sell out within minutes through February at least. During March and April they may last an entire day. During May, there's a good possibility that it might take 2 days for a shipment to sell out.
Once June hits, most people that want one will have one, and the video game market slows to a crawl during the summer. That's the point where people will probably be able to walk into their local Game Stop / EB / Target / Best Buy / whatever and just buy one off the shelf at any time.

I didn't make it to BB to check, but I can vouch for this in terms of north Richmond, Virginia system availability at the moment:
* CC apparently has PS3s according to the link in this thread. I also haven't been there.
* Target has no DS Lites, no PS3s, no Wiis or accessories other than steering wheels, and no PS2s since that came up in another thread. I almost wonder if Target pulled PS2s to avoid complaints from casual consumers who would have otherwise bought them thinking they were PS3s
* Wal-Mart has no DS Lites, no PS3s, no Wiis, no PS2s, and even no GBAs. I did see classic controllers for the Wii at Wal-Mart, though. It was the first time I have seen any accessory other than the steering wheel.

Went to Wal-Mart earlier tonight(Evans, GA), and came across four PS3's(one 20GB, three 60GB) sitting in the display case(the demo PS3 unit was frozen, ha). I have seen PS3's out on other occasions, but I still have never seen a Wii anywhere.

the 360 with HD-DVD IS more expensive. $600 > $500 (price of 20B PS3, which plays Blu-ray just fine, with HDMI to boot)

Can someone tell me the difference between the 20G and 60G PS3 boxes?

Plus the 60gb has built in wireless and I believe it has the slots to read the various memory formats (e.g. SecureDigital/SD) which isn't present on the 20.

As for why he'd feed you a line... he might not be doing that, but it is likely he doesn't know what he's talking about. Most EB employees don't.

I will give the PS3 props for its download speed. I downloaded the Motor Storm demo (about 500MB if I remember) in about 15 minutes. It takes the 360 about an hour and a half for that size.
Oh, and one weird thing: I picked up my PS3 Sunday and they had a mix of boxes that had Talladega Nights and ones that didn't, so I guess they're past the initial shipment that come with it.

We can sit here and argue about little details all you want, but what it boils down to is this. Gamers want a gaming machine first and foremost, and aren't nearly as worried about Blu-Ray or HD-DVD. If I'm wrong about that, then you explain why PS3s are just sitting in stores right now.

I bought a PS3, but only for Blu Ray. I have never been a Playstation gamer, but the PS3 is the cheapest Blu Ray player out. I will probably never buy a game for it, but will download trailers from the Playstation store.

I'm wondering which version I saw stacked behind the BB counter.
