So has anyone figured out what the deal is with these gamerpoints? I just entered, and it said this:

Well, I broke down and bought a 360 on Friday night. Really can't believe I did that but I did. Blue Dragon and Mass Effect are coming - two games I'm very excited about and probably won't be seen on PC. I was able to get right around $150 trade in credit for my old Xbox and a few games + I had a coupon for 20% more on trades which helped. So I got the premium for roughly $250 + tax. I decided not to buy any games right off but I rented Lost Planet and GoW. Both games are pretty fun so far. I didn't check the discs when I rented them and I was getting disc read errors on GoW, which ended up being scratched to hell.

Anyways, I have a question. Why does it say the capacity of the HD is 13GB when they advertise you get a 20GB? I thought maybe they pre-loaded a bunch of shit on their like movies and demos, which they do, but that stuff only took up about 3GB of space and that was deducted from the 13GB, leaving me with 10GB free. So, where is the other 7GB?

Hopefully, MVP '05 is next on the list to be compatible with the 360 and then I won't feel so bad for trading in my Xbox.

System files? Updates? I know there's some shitty music that should be deleted right off the bat....

Well, yah there's stuff that can be deleted -- Demos, Movies, etc. but the thing is, it says the capacity of the hard drive is 13GB, not 20GB. Even if I delete all the extra BS I'm still going to have 13GB of free space. I'm just wondering why MS advertises it's a 20GB HD when really you're only getting a 13GB HD? And if the extra 7GB is reserved for system files and what not, then that's a load of crap because the core doesn't come with a HD, so if it can function just fine w/o that 7GB then so should a 360 with a HD.

I believe a majority of that extra space is reserved for updates and backwards compatibility downloads.

So when do you find out if you get any points?

The last 7GB is reserved for system and Backwards Compatability stuff. The core can't do BC.

So, if you bought the core and then bought the 20GB HD separately, you'd get use of the full 20GB?

I know its not the operating system: The operating system works weather or not you have the HD attached to it...

Nope, because a portion (~7 gigs) is partitioned off for any BC updates. Every original Xbox game you put in downloads a separate mini-update to that 7 gigs to allow you to play the game.

It was just shitty planning on Microsoft's behalf. That said, I still haven't filled mine (though I did recently just erase a bunch of downloads.)

I have a Core and had to buy a separate HDD (stupid "Either this or nothing." made all the better by coupons.)

Heavy Weapon isn't half bad. Perhaps it was the deluge of crappy Xbox Live Arcade titles of late, but I'm digging it. The latter stages of the multiplayer mode are utterly insane.

I agree on that. I knwo the people at MVPmods.com have updated rosters for this. I almost plugged in my old XBOX again to play this....but I may just get the PS2 version so I can play on my PS3.

I may look into doing some "things" to my old XBOX, since I don't want to trade it away (it's the green Halo version)

I just received an an email from Discovery with the subject "Update on FutureWeapons Microsoft Points" and it said Access Denied to Microsoft Points. Sorry, All Points Have Been Depleted.

I do hope that Microsoft will do something to free up some of that hard disk space after the next BC update, which is supposedly the last. I have some original XBox games that I still play on the 360, but not that many that it would take up 7gb of space.

Yah, I believe they are sending out multiple emails for that Discovery contest. I got a denied email at 3:31 p.m. EST and a "You're a winner" email at 4:57. Waiting for my third one.
