Here's a link I found on another website for a free 2000 point card:
http://www.letsplaywii.com/promo
I signed up for this the other day, and I just cancelled my account to true.com. I'll let you know if I actually get the card.

Well, I signed up too. Seemed legit enough. I imagine they get a kickback from true when people actually become members. I guess we'll find out soon enough!
I would imagine if it orks it will be several weeks to get it. Maybe by then R-Type or Streets of Rage will be available! HA!! Unlikely, but I can hope!

I got Gunstar Heroes. It's great, but I'd say not worth the $8 unless you're going to play coop.
It's pretty sure and it's not a lot of fun IMO to play through again and again by yourself just like most schmups. But it would be more fun with a friend.

Did you end up putting your CC information in? I'm getting spam from True.com now, so I know it went through, but I didn't put any CC info in there.

I think I put my credit card number in, the catch is that you have to call true.com to cancel the membership, and you have to do it between the time you receive the email above and the time that your 7 day trial expires, otherwise you get billed.

I did their promotion for the 1600 MS points. Easy as it gets. You can cancel at any time, it doesn't matter when you get the confirmation email. You will get your card.
They do random checks so if you are married, beware, it is against their policy to sign up.

Ok. Guess I won't be getting one. No big deal. I may just order a few through Buy.com as long as they still have the $20 off $50.

I think it was posted in the other Wii thread but here goes for those who haven't heard?
Nintendo Reveals Virtual Console Christmas Surprise
Nintendo gives us all the gift that keeps on giving: Mario.
by Micah Seff
December 21, 2006 - While not exactly the free Christmas gift that many were hoping for, Nintendo did see fit to spread some holiday cheer today with the announcement that several new Virtual Console games would be made available on Christmas Day. Wii owners with access to a high-speed Internet connection will soon be able to download even more retro-gaming goodness direct from Nintendo.
On Christmas morning, Wii owners will be treated to a surprise visit from Mario himself in the form of Super Mario Bros. for the NES, which can be downloaded for a mere 500 Wii Points. If Mario is not your thing -- although that would make owning a Wii pretty strange -- then there are plenty of other ways to sate your thirst for classic gaming on the Wii. Street Fighter II from the SNES is also slapping its way onto Nintendo's download service for 800 Wii Points. Players looking to vent their Christmas morning frustrations on the legions of the undead can do so with Super Castlevania IV, going for 800 Wii Points. Satisfying the desires of every child of the 90s, SEGA has saw fit to offer up the much-beloved Genesis title, ToeJam & Earl for 800 Wii Points. Finally, R-Type for the TurboGrafx-16 makes its return for 800 Wii Points.
This is the last Virtual Console Monday of 2006. Good thing Nintendo decided to give us all a present in the form of some of our favorite games ever.

If you've never played it, you guys MUST download and play Super Castlevania IV - it's easly one of the best Castlevia games out there (including the Metroid clones), and the fact that you can contiue with the way the Wii's set up for saves, makes it a no-brainer.

I just downloaded Super Mario Bros. Sure, I could easily find other (cheaper) ways to play it, but its a game I felt like I just had to buy. Now I have 500 pts left, and I'm not sure what to do with it.

I downloaded Super Castlevania IV. Man, I just can't get over how great this game is...especially on my projector in progressive scan...glorious. Truly a remarkable game as good now as it was years ago. Here's hoping they put Super Metroid up in the near future...

I picked up SMB. Looks very nice in component video @ 480p. Much better than my NES over composite video *shudder* My wife wanted Toe Jam & Earl. And I was bored and had some points left, so I picked up Alien Crush.
Man, this VC is killer.
Not picking up Street Fighter. I've got SF anniversary for the xbox and IMO fighting games are boring without someone else to play with. At least SF anniversary has online play.

Added SMB and Castlevania to the console last night. Now I have 700 points left from my original 4000. Is R-Type worth 800? I haven't played it in years and I don't think it was the T16 version. I would gladly buy another 100 points for it if you guys think I should.

I have to buy a virtual console controller, or a GC one today, specifically for Super Castlevania. That title has been sneering at me since it was put up, and I MUST have it
