It matters which side of the body the ball is on. What you said is valid for when the ball is coming to your right side (forehand for righties, backhand for lefties), but if it is coming to your left side, it is far more natural for a lefty to hit it than a righty (forehand for lefties, backhand for righties). Both righties and lefties have forehand and backhand shots. The side that the ball is coming to is the important thing, not what hand you are, because your opponent can hit it to either side of you, and you can often try to hit the ball on your preferred side.

What I'm not understanding is, isn't Wii Sports included free with each Wii? Then why wouldn't it be 350,358 units sold?

The Japanese version doesn't include Wii Sports and has a lower MSRP.

Exactly. My forehand would be his backhand. My backhand is his forehand. Doesn't matter, unless the "handed-ness" of the character makes a difference in the play mechanics of the swing.

Let me ask you this. Does Wii Tennis automatically select the type of swing to make based on the location of the ball? Or do you specifically have to make a back hand swing with the remote to have the Mii execute a back hand swing?

If the game automatically makes the proper swing based off the location of the ball, then it doesn't matter (as much). It would still be nice to have a left handed Mii because otherwise everything would be backwards (I'd be playing left handed and the characted would be playing right handed). It would be a little confusing to have it be a mirror image of my motions.

If you have to explicitly make a back handed swing to have the Mii make a back handed swing, then it becomes much more critical. I'd have to make a back hand swing to have the Mii execute a fore hand swing and vise versa. That would take even more getting used to.

Again, it really doesn't matter much since I would configure it for a left handed player, but I'm just curious at this point.

Wow that was quick. Already got my 1GB SD card from Office Max in the deal I posted yesterday!

Pretty impressive to get it the next day, especially with free shipping!

I also picked up the Marvel: UA and Tony Hawk trailer DVD at target so I can use the white Wii case for Wii Sports.

You have to do backhand or forehand. You can also lob, put spin on the ball etc.

My Target never got any of those. If anyone could pick up an extra, I'd greatly appreciate it and I'll pay for shipping it to me.

Edit: I could also trade a spare DS case for one, if someone has the need.

Best Buy in Oxnard, CA has just received 4 pairs of Psyclone Component Cables for the Wii. Call your local Best Buys and ask them to look up this SKU, 7985727. The cables are 59.99, so they are the more expensive ones, but who cares with my lovely employee discount that brings them down to a little over 25 dollars!

I'm even jealous of myself!

My god, how much of an employee discount do Best Buy employees get???

If I hadn't already ordered/had them shipped, I'd ask you to get some and ship to me.

The better question is how much of a markup is there on everything...

My UPS tracking number for the component cables finally works...they shipped out of Seattle around 6:30 PST. Looks like they're on schedule to arrive on Thursday.

Should I even bother getting component cables? I only have 2 inputs and they are being used by my dvd player and HD Tivo. I'd rather not have to switch them out every time.

You really should. The Wii looks like garbage with the composite cables, IMO - and I'm not a video freak.

I'm going to have that same dilemma in a couple of months, if it's true that an upconverting DVD player can only upconvert if used with HDMI...since my TV's lone HDMI port is what my cable is hooked up through. Also have only two component ports, like you.

My friends get the Best Buy discount and it's useless on 90% of the items in the store.

She was right! I checked UPS.com with the tracking number and all of a sudden it says "out for delivery" today. It said "Billing info received" since 11/29 and now today finally shows a scan. Awesome

The BestBuy discount really helps on cables, or at least it did.

When I worked at one for a summer years ago. I needed a printer cable. The price tag for the store was $29.99. My employee cost was about $1.31.
