It seems like prices have leveled off on both. Although, still seems to be $100 on more profit to have. Although, the Wii at least is being released, while Sony sits on their ass and does not put out any systems. Just odd.

I still want to use my Gamerush credit to get something to put on EBAY.

Either he didn't pay taxes for twenty years or he's living in one hell of a house.

Got to love the repeated use of "are" in place of "our" as well.

I think the only "madness" is how gimmicky all these auctions are. When the product can't sell itself and you need to resort to posting boob shots, it makes me think the product isn't so hot to begin with. Not $1000+ hot, at least.

Homer Simpson 12-04-06 05:25 PM

Maybe they can post a picture of their outstanding property tax bill(s).

Indeed, the 360 was hot as it was the only next gen system. I think a lot of people are striking out on PS3's and saying "fuck it I'll just get a 360."

It's a really clusterfuck for Sony to have spotted MS a year lead and then fuck up their launch this bad.

There's not much incentive to try so hard to get a PS3 when one can just go in any store and pick up a 360 and Gears of War. Much less to pay $1000 plus on ebay, when you can drop $400 on the premium 360 and have a years worth of games (including some good cheaper games like CoD2 for $20 or PGR 3 for $30) at your disposal.

There's also the Wii, but they are also hard to find, and it offers such a different experience I have a hard time picturing someone who wanted a PS3 going for a Wii rather than a 360 when they get stonewalled.

Stupid-ass Nigerian scamming bastards! They've moved their scam from phishing emails to Buy It Now auctions on ebay.

I happened upon a PS3 this weekend, almost kept it, but decided I needed the money more. So, I listed it on ebay last night. This morning my item has sold. Sweet, right? Wrong! Some assclown claiming to be an American traveling in the UK wanted me to ship the PS3 overnight immediately. Now I'm going to get hit with relisting fees. Guess that's what I get for trying to make a small profit on this thing.

Here's the email he sent me...

I counted two sentences in his auction posting. The first is quite the run-on sentence.

That happened to me last year with one of my 360's actually. Pretty much the same thing with the daughter except she was a student over there in Africa. Now the thing that was actually more of a scam with mine was he actually wanted my home address because he was going to arrange for pick-up through fed-ex at my home. I of course said either I would go ahead and ship it through one of their stores once I received payment or call fed-ex to pick up ONCE I saw payment in paypal.

As far as having to pay relisting fees, you will get charged these but you will be able to recoup your original listing fees once you file the proper forms on Ebay of a non-paying(SCAM) buyer.

KurrptSenate 12-05-06 08:44 AM

did these guys have ANY positive feedback (on ebay)?

the reason I asked is, when I posted my two auctions for PS3, I told them I reserve the right to cancel anyone's bid if they have zero feedback, unless they contacted me first.

Sure, this pissed off some people who actually wanted to bid on my auction, but, if they were that serious, they would contact me. Setting up this way gives you the right to cancel the bid of someone you do not feel is reputable. It could cut into your profits, but "peace of mind" is worth it IMO

Canis Firebrand 12-05-06 08:51 AM

That works for a normal auction. But in a Buy-it-now auction, once they click buy-it-now, all the seller can do is relist and fill out the forms to get one set of listing fees/closing fees refunded.

KurrptSenate 12-05-06 08:53 AM

ah, I didn't know he listed it for BIN. I listed mine as 3 day auctions, with a starting bid of 0.01, with no reserve

Thanks for the advice. I started this process this morning. It's nice to know I may not have to pay all of those fees.

I didn't have a chance to cancel his bid because he used Buy It Now and that ended the auction. I did make mention of buyers out of the country in my relisted auction. Maybe that will help. We'll see.

Canis Firebrand 12-05-06 08:56 AM

That is the pain of a buy-it-now. Sure, you can potentially get a quick auction in and paid quicker then a normal listing. But you take a chance on this happening.

I usually run a 3 or 5 day auction. Make mention in the terms that I ship only to a US address and mention it in my listing text. I mention that I ship only to the US, to a confirmed address through paypal and reserve the right to cancel bids of people with no feedback or excessive negative feedback.

I haven't had to many problems. But then again, I've never listed a high demand system like a 360, Wii or PS3.

No problem, it can be a little bit of a hassle, but in the end you should definitely get your refund of those original fees.

DamingR 12-05-06 12:04 PM

One of my auctions sold to a woman who decided she would rather have a 60GB. She emailed me about 5 minutes later to tell me, then got nasty with me when I told her Ebay auctions were binding contracts, like I was the a-hole.

So, I lost out on the listing fee which Ebay won't refund ($40) and the profits of a system that sold on the day after launch (about $150-$200).

Then, Paypal closed my account due to the increased volume and my account was frozen for two weeks with the money in limbo and I couldn't pay for a couple of auctions that I had won.

I hate Ebay.

KurrptSenate 12-05-06 12:18 PM

yea, pay-pal totally pissed me off with the crap they pulled after-the-fact.

I mean, i sent them the darn tracking numbers, but now I have to wait for a letter to arrive before they will "review" my account and take it off hold

aerobson 12-06-06 07:37 AM

After Reading All These Posts I Guess I lucked Out. I had gotten 6 Playstation 3's and Kept 1. I posted my 5 on ebay shortly after midnight launch for 2400 a piece and to my luck all 5 were bought within an hour.
