Probably doing into it pad the price without having to pay extra money in the final value fees.

Assuming he works 5 days a week, that's 261 business days (including holidays and vacation). So he'd have to make $130,000.

If you camped 48 hours (not uncommon), you got paid $15-$30 to just sit around.

Not terribly exciting if you ask me.

If I see a PS3 somewhere I might get it and flip it for $100 or $150 extra on Craigslist. Demand for that kind of price will continue through the holidays and that will net me two Wii games and an Xbox 360 game.

I agree. This is my friend who did it, and my thoughts on the matter. He doesn't make 1k a day, but he did have to use 2 perfectly good vacation days he could have used to say go on a vaction, plus he had to freeze..

The 1.5 hour way makes perfect sense to me. Way to go. I wish I did that

Darn it, I forgot I was going to monitor PS3 prices and Wii prices during launch on ebay to graph the trend. Could reveal some interesting information I think. Ah, I'm to lazy this close to T-day anyway...

why?

all the pre-launch hype was mostly about reselling them, only the hardest of the hardcore gamers will pay ebay prices and only the dumbest of the parents that spoil their kids will buy one on ebay. and rumor has it that sony is going to be shipping them via JAL flights on a daily basis soon

people in the fatwallet PS3 thread are already saying that some places are shipping post launch PS3's already and they have seen them at some B&M locations after the initial launch supply was bought up

there'll be a slight increase in demand, especially for all those people planning on getting in Black Friday, but don't

Ill be very surprised to see prices go back up again. Maybe a couple will sell at higher prices but I dont see it becoming a big trend. Like the guy said before me, the launch hype is gone and I also have heard that places are already getting thier 2nd shipments in. Sony is doing everything in thier power to get as many PS3's on the market as they can, very different from the PS2 launch. Sony cant waste time anymore as they have already given MS a huge head start in this race. Combine that with the format war with HD-DVD and I think well be seeing alot of PS3's in the coming weeks and months and I think people realize that.

Plus the fact that the PS3 was at 600 starting really killed this thing for a lot of people. There just wasnt as many people looking to buy a PS3 this time around due to the starting price point. People knew that is it was 600 starting that the prices on Ebay would be way way too high to pay. It basically equaled less demand which drove the price down.

Bottom line PS3 on Ebay this year was a huge failure for the sellers. I know 4 people personally that were planning on making a killing and ended up settling for like 300 bucks profit. Not even worth the time they put into it. I am just glad I had nothing to do with it this time around. I made alot of money from PS2's on Ebay, enough to pay half my student loans off :-) but I stayed as far away from the PS3 machine as I could. It was just a completly different ballgame this year.

PS..

some of you young kids dreaming of riches are forgetting the Jaguar and the other expensive console that had awesome graphics and died a spectacular death because it was too expensive at $399 back in the late 1990's. Might have started at $499, but i forgot.

$500 and $600 are expensive for a game console. There are very few crazy people out there who absolutely need it now and are willing to spend $1500 or more just to have it first. Most people are going to wait at least a year. and there are a ton of people who bought on launch day and are waiting to ebay it in hopes of higher prices. supply will only continue to go up.

this is almost like the housing bubble stories. PS2 and xbox 360 people made money reselling them because there was consumer demand. PS3 it's mostly hype and suddenly everyone and their brother is going to get rich reselling it. it was all over the news before launch. back in 2002-2004 the real flippers were making a killing on homes and then when it hit the mass media 2005 we saw everyone and their brother decide to get in on the game. come 2006 inventories skyrocket and home prices drop.

I wonder if that take into account shill bidders, and ignores all auctions that end over a certain amount.
