I've got store credit for Walmart, so I'm hoping that they get it in soon. I hate using the freakin controller while watching movies.

I just came from a local Wal-Mart Supercenter (Southwest Missouri) that had at least 10 in stock.

mine took a little over 2 hours, didn't really care though, just switched over to tv and watched some stuff on my dvr, flipped back to the ps3 once I noticed the network light stop flashing.

so I'm guessing the wi-fi on my PS3 could be screwed up or something? my PS3 is about 12' from my router. the signal is always 100% and yet my download times are very slow. every other wireless item in my house including my 360 has fast downloads.

DJ_Longfellow 12-28-06 08:37 AM

My WiFi seemed slow also...I have my PS3 about 4' from my router...so I said screw it and just wired it up direct. Seems a little faster....could just be Sony improving things.

Its probably just their servers being inadequate for the load of people downloading GT HD and other stuff right now.

Nintendo has had some issues too on days it was busy (Launch day and X-mas with thousands of people getting theirs and downloading the updates, mondays when new VC games are out, the day the forecast and internet channels went up etc.).

M Polo 12-28-06 11:53 AM

I'm using WiFi and the update took maybe two to three minutes to download and a few to load. Motostorm took around 10 minutes and GT HD took forever last night and then ended up timing out. I tried again this morning and it as well took maybe 10 minutes. I'd say my 360 and PS3 are about 15ft. from my router.

BGPu 12-28-06 12:40 PM

It took me a couple hours to download GT:HD over wifi.

About an hour for Jumping Flash (275 MB)

A couple hours for Tekken 5

so I finally broke down, and got FF XII, but before I opened it to be played on my PS3, it occured to me, what do I use to save the game for PS2 games.. Do i have to use a PS2 Memory card? I know they make a memory card adapter, but I was hoping I could just save on my nice 60GB HD... Do i need to buy that crap?

There's a setting on your PS3 to create a virtual memory card on the hard drive for PS2 games.

Fandango 12-28-06 01:17 PM

You create a virtual memory card on the HD. You only need the memory card adapter if you want to transfer old game saves.

Does anyone know if Sony has released a remote for the PS3?

Yes, see above. They have a bluetooth remote. Apparently they are STARTING to show up in stores now. WalMart, EB, BB, CC should have them now or soon. I plan on eventually picking up one also.

Sonny Corinthos 12-28-06 09:36 PM

 Thanks.

JimmySRU 12-28-06 11:55 PM

Fandango 12-29-06 12:14 AM

They will ONLY charge while the system is on though...I think they are releasing a charge dock too.

corbin dallas 12-29-06 08:10 AM

Since they're usb, couldn't you charge them on a computer as well?

ChrisHicks 12-29-06 08:39 AM

My mistake...didn't even think of that....DOH.

I still don't like having a non-changeable battery....sill Sony replace them when they fail ;)

If the battery fails though, you can always just plug the USB in and play wired, correct?

if you don't mind sitting 3 feet away from your console, sure. Or I'd guess you can buy an extender cable.

I looked in the quick refernce guide for the PS3. No mention of being able to replace the battery only on how to properly dispose of the battery and controller. Thanks, Sony.... I'd also like to thank the engineer who designed forced obsolescence into the SIXAXIS controller...sigh.

I refuse to buy another controller until Sony comes up with one that has removable/replaceable rechargable batteries. :grumble:

Gizmo 12-29-06 10:59 PM

Bought a PS3 today. I now own all 3 Next-Gen systems.
