Why doesn't the PS3 support WPA2?

Fandango 12-19-06 03:36 PM

That's something they can add in a firmware update.

Q: What do Snakes on a Plane, OJ Simpson, and the PS3 all have in common?

A: They all went from "buzz to bust" according to Time Magazine.

If you have a PS2 you can use those component cables on the PS3.

Fandango 12-19-06 09:20 PM

Yeah HDMI to component doesn't seem to make too much sense to me.

What? Why?

ILikeDVD 12-19-06 10:30 PM

No Manco, i dont own a PS2. Just the new PS3. Reason why you locos, is thati will be getting a 50 + inch flatscreen in 07 with full 1080p thru hdmi.In the meantime i will be using my sony hdtv CRT that has only component imputs for HD signals. Which im happy with in the meantime. Thanks again Manco.

collven 12-20-06 04:55 AM

I don't think there is any such thing, but I could be wrong.

You don't have component cables?

Just buy the component cables for the PS2 or PS3 (they're the same thing). You don't need an hdmi to component adapter... the PS3 has a separate connector for component.

ILikeDVD 12-20-06 01:39 PM

Thanks Fujishig. Now which store can i get it at for a good price. NOT online but an actual shop? I dont want to pay $99 for Monster cables.

Go to any shop... even if it's only branded for the PS2, it'll work on both. Sony ones retail for around 30 bucks, I've heard that they're on clearance at Toys R Us but I haven't found any. You can get cheaper ones (React) for ~25. Don't buy the ones for multiple systems, and you don't need the overpriced Monster or Psyclone ones.

When you're in the market for HDMI cables, however, you'll want to at least check out monoprice.

ILikeDVD 12-20-06 11:54 PM

Fujishig, i went to my local Toys R Us. They had the PS2 component cables on sale Reg $25 on sale for $14. They had a lot about 20. Works like a charm and just finished watching Superman Returns. Looks great. Thanks again Fujishig.

how come theres no 'gamertag' list for the ps3? I get a feeling that not many people are playing this console online?

Liver&Onions 12-21-06 11:30 AM

I posted mine a while back - got no invites :(

corbin dallas 12-21-06 11:34 AM

For those of you with the PS3 are you happy with your purchase? I'm on the fence about getting one. I already have a 360 and a Wii plus a PS2 and a PSP. Is the PS3 worth another $500-$600 investment? I played Resistance at a friends house and really enjoyed it but it didn't seem any more graphically impressive than a similar style 360 FPS. BluRay is not a deciding factor but having it would format war proof my setup.

Save Ferris 12-21-06 11:35 AM

if you're on the fence, why not wait for a price drop next year? Thats what Im doing. There arent any games I want now anyway.

DJ_Longfellow 12-21-06 11:50 AM

My Gamertag is Johnnie5....I have NO games though. Resistance is on the way though.

Fandango 12-21-06 03:25 PM

Anyone looking for the remote check your Gamestop, I got one there today, $24.99.

The Blu-Ray remote by Sony? I didn't even know it was out yet, I can't even find it on the Gamestop website.

There might be sales and bundles next year (a la this year's 360 stuff) but there won't be an official Sony price drop until spring 2008. We might see a price drop to $99 for the PS2 next spring, but not the PS3.

Fandango 12-21-06 03:51 PM

Yes the Blu-Ray remote, call up Gamestop, they most likely will have it.

Checked my EB Games, sure enough, the have the remote. I think I will pass, though. I hope to get a universal remote, and BT doesn't fit into my plans.
