Current Microsoft Points deals?

  • It seems to be everywhere for about $19.99. (BB, CC, Amazon, etc.)
  • Buy.com still has Google checkout for $10 off of $30, so you can save by doing that if you buy two, or are shopping for something else anyway.
  • Next week's Best Buy ad (thanks speedy) has a deal:
GAMERS: Get 1600 Live Points for only $4.99 instantly when you buy ANY XBOX 360 Game // Must be purchased on the same receipt (10/22 - 10/28)
  • BB also has the Gamer's Gift Card at some stores, allowing $5 off any game/accessory $19.99 and up. Making it $14.99 if you're buying it alone.
Anything else?

I might pick up Ridge Racer next week, as that's only $20 and hop in on this deal. I just got my 360, so there's lots of XBLA stuff still to get.

That's a good deal -- essentially $5 for Ridge Racer!

Unfortunately, I haven't seen the gamer gift cards at any of my local BB's for months.

Me neither, until about three days ago! I was so excited, I picked up 5 of them. The lady at the register didn't care. They let you put a buck on there, but I put $5 on each anyway.

Go again and check (mine was on a gift card rack near the registers, not near the games). Maybe they have them now!

It is amazing in how many different places they put the gift cards.

They could be at customer service, at any register, in a separate gift card rack near the front of the store, in ANY media aisle (usually in every new release aisle, but I have seen them mixed in with CDs or DVDs also), on the employee kiosks in the media sections, inside of non-Kenmore microwaves, etc

That's not a bad deal at all. I may have to do that.

I go in and stock up 6 at a time $5 a piece. Then use them when I buy stuff during that visit. Each visit nets me 6 coupons on GC's that I'm using in that visit so I don't have any money sitting on BB GC's.

Over at CAG they have a thread about signing up for an online dating service and getting 1600 MS points for free. The points come from 360achievements.com or something like that. From what I read it sounds legit.

Yeah I tried that, the site is true.com, the link for the xboxacheiver offer is over at cheapassgamer. A lot of people have already gotten their points apparently. I already received confirmation for my points (that they are going to ship soon), so I cancelled before my trial ended. It is a pain because you have to call and cancel, but it is worth it for free points.

I did the True.com thing also. I'm going to use my points for Lumines, since there's no way that I'd actually pay for it. I'm going to do the deal again as well.

Is there a limit to the 1600 points? Can you get two or three?

I've heard of people getting more than one. I'm going to sign up again, after I know the first one has shipped, under a different name and email address.

From CAG, it seems it is against thier TOS to sign up if you are married. Apparently they run random checks also. I wouldn't be surprised if they checked for multiple accounts either.

Picked up Ridge Racer and the points today. They wouldn't let me combine with the gamer card though, so I saved it for another day.

People on CAG have been pricematching the BB deal at CC and then returning the game, which I think is a little unethical, as CC isn't really hosting the deal.

However, you can get the 1600 point card for pre-ordering GoW at BB for $5, and then another $5 for the card. This'll make it half price, and there's nothing forcing you to go pick up GoW next month. The pre-order also comes with a free shirt that's selling for over $5 on eBay, so you could go that route and not be out any money at all.

Yup, I can't see how it's YMMV since it updates automatically in the system. $10 for 1600 points, plus a free preorder, not too shabby!

yep. That's the way I view it. I've ordered Gears elsewhere, this will just be $10 for the points.

i haven't made it over there yet, but should try in the next day or so.

I pre-ordered GTA IV to get the points. I figured what the hell, it's definitely a game I'll be picking up anyway.

Thanks, I didn't realize that was preorder-able. Any others I don't know of?
