Yeah, you can make friendly products to please everybody, but hell, what you don't realize that there's another guy down the corner is stealing some of your happy customers by selling something "half" of your product. You don't like that, especially your product can do that too...

I too think that piracy is a red herring. When I first got my PSP, I had a terribly difficult time finding the games that I wanted. Availability was pretty bad. Having to resort to ebay for games for a current gen system is a bit extreme IMO. Perhaps people are not factoring that the PSP can do so many different things, and that games might not be the primary use.
People buy a DS to play games. With a few exceptions that is the only thing you do with a DS. But with a PSP, games are not as central. Ah, Ocelot, welcome back to the videogame board (I know you were still lurking on other dvdtalk boards... :) )... you always open up the discussions... :) When Sony released Warhawk and Socom for download, weren't they the exact same price as the PS3 game (without the peripheral)? Why do you think they'd lower the price if they do go download-only? |

Yeah, did they actually state that piracy (of UMDs) is why PSP game sales are down? Compared to the DS, they barely have a trickle of games coming out, that's the main reason why I haven't bought a PSP game in some time.

How has BC draged down the GBA, GBA SP, DS, Wii, PS2, etc?
See, if DSi is suppose to come with the GBA slot, then it most likely will not have a SD slot (come on, there's no real estate on the DS Lite, unless going back to DS Phat so that both SD slot and GBA slot can fit). Since DSi decided to drop GBA slot and leave the space for SD slot, bingo, you have something new... If GBA BC is considered, we won't really have a DSi, won't we? Maybe a DS phat 2.0 with intended DSi features. So, back to PSP2... If PSP2 is to have UMD BC, well, it's a drag to do something new. You can argue that since the PSP already have a mem slot, Sony should retain the UMD slot and expand the capability of the existing mem slot. But hell, what about the sliding keypad, additional analog stick, internal hdd, a powerful processor etc? The presence of UMD slot will not make the PSP2 any sexier or easier to design, hence, the BC feature is a drag... |

I think it has been said many times, if not by sony, then by developers and podcasters.

If it somehow connects to PS3's LBP, oh man, infinite possibilities. Create levels on the go or playing custom levels virtually anywhere, who don't want that? On the other hand, if it's just plain PSP's LBP, oh boy, nothing much to it (just stick to the superior PS3 version then). Of course, if the PSP's LBP linking up with all other PSPs, that's still an interesting concept (even if not attached to mother PS3 pod). |

Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3
^--- yes, that's why i'm very hopeful of PSP's LBP!
We'll see for PSP's R:R infected mode with R2. It looks interesting, but it could be a hyped up gimmick... but then again, it's cool :D |
Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3
I haven't posted about it since, under normal circumstances (a Japanese only PC release), nobody would care.. but it looks like there's a slight possibility that the "sort of announced" Ys ζ could be released for the PSP along with its (assumed) PC release. There's also YET ANOTHER Ys I & II remake that's also heavily rumored to head to the PSP. Ys fans seem to be taking the hype road, but I'm going to take the common sense route and just assume this will be YET ANOTHER tweaking of Ys I & II Complete, of which the recent DS version is also ased on, rather than a full on remake. I'll know more in a couple of weeks.

Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3
Oh, i love that game! I still remember the good old Genesis version :)
I recently finished the Y's the Neph-something for the PSP. I had a tough time killing the shadow things, but overall, it's a very enjoyable game (i don't finish many PSP games). |

If all goes well, I look forward to a string of PSP remakes of Ys I-V like we're getting with Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest. |
Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3
Wow another version of Ys I and II? I'll buy that. Playing the DS one now, which is actually pretty good buy way easy. Stylus control is actually much better than I expected (you can now attack by diagonals). D-pad control is a mess for some reason (no reason why it should have been).

Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3
I'm in the middle of Final Fantasy II right now on my PSP. I don't remember this game like I remembered the first.

Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3
Hm. I guess that would explain it. All I remember is how much I loved the first one when I was a kid. Replaying it on my PSP was a real treat.

Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3
BTW, I was waiting on reviews on the new Resistance game for the PSP, and it seems like they hit it out of the park - it's getting phenomenal reviews, with everyone praising it's 12-hour campaign and it's in-depth multi-player, which is as robust as any multi-player shooter on a console.

Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3
They released the demo in the PSN store last Thursday, so you can check it yourself right now.
|
Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3
yeah, i saw the R:R demo on PSN as well. I got it on my PSP, but i just don't have the time to try it... Actually, i'm just curious about the infection mode. Not that i find it fascinating, just that if it does well, more of that gonna come out. When it does, it will be a treat for those of us got both PSP and PS3.

Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3
I got Lego Batman yesterday and to be honest, this was the first game that I bought since I got GoW: CoO, so it's been a while.

Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3
It's official, Ys I & II and Ys VII were announced for the PSP (in Japango).
No PC version of Ys VII (yet) = HUGE :(. |
Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3
I'll buy those.
|
Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3
Nice, i'll buy them too. I hope there are promotion stuff for Y's, like art cells.

Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3
Sorry, haven't played any of the PC games. Only the SMS, Turdo duo and DS port of the first 2. And a little of 3.
