Any idea when Sony will update the security for the PSP? I'm using WPA2 and I CANNOT connect my PSP to my network....horrible.

Just make sure you don't buy the older 1800 mah battery, the newer Sony batteries are 2200 mah.

FF: Crisis Core dropped in price at least at TRU. It is now $29. Pretty damn fun game so far but I only put about $30 minutes into it which mostly were movies but I like that sort of thing. Anyway the combat is unlike any FF to date but is extremely fun. It kind of mixes the active ap system think FF X2 with real time combat like I don't know god of war. It is a odd mix but works really well.
I don't really get the DMW thing at all though. Every now and then a slot machine pops up and gives you level points or does some kind of special move. I'm not sure if this is random or if I am causing it. The slot machine has people's faces but they don't appear to be in your party. I don't even think the game has parties. Yeah it is odd. I'm going to have to hit gamefaq to figure this thing out. Still fun though even if I don't understand it. Oh yeah this game looks great also. |
I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned here yet. Glad I didn't get a PSP-3000.

While it succeeds, it appears that a new problem has emerged: scan lines, which make things look worse than they did in the 2000 model. A well-populated thread on the PlayStation forum shows the cries of dozens that are reporting the same problem.
Our test unit (which arrived today) also features the same problem. In fact, we're not digging the 3000 model at all. While the colors look nice, we're disappointed by its performance in sunlight. Even worse, the plastic on the new model feels cheaper than ever before. Sony told Joystiq that they're currently "looking into this." Hopefully, it'll only take a firmware update to fix -- otherwise, many may opt to buy the 2000 series instead. Sony Japan has responded to criticisms about visible scanlines on the new PSP-3000 systems. While Sony America is looking into the situation, Japan's statement doesn't bode too well. It seems that the scanline problem is a feature of the new LCD screens. SCEI says that the "PSP-3000 has a new LCD device with vastly improved picture quality, achieving a more natural and vivid picture than older models. By improving LCD response time to reduce ghosting, the horizontal-line phenomenon becomes more visible." The worst news is that there's no fix. "Since this is caused by hardware characteristics, there is no plan to fix it with system software update." Looks like it's here to stay. We're still waiting on a statement from SCEA but, from the looks of it, they won't have much new to add. |
Well, it seems my PSP-1000 will stay with me for a long time. Maybe when they release the PSP-4000 or the PSP2 I'd upgrade.
Oh I'm one of the weird guys that hasn't hacked their PSP-1000. |
I'm sticking with my hacked 2000 unless they fix the screen issues on the 3000 and Dark Alex is able to work his magic on it.

I held off getting a PSP, so I could get a 3000. Now I am not sure which older model to get, since I obviously don't want a 3000 now. Costco has the Daxter, do I go with that? OR Do I search for a God of War one? OR the Blue NFL one?

So the 3 systems I mentioned are all the same, except for the color? The GoW would probably be my choice if I can find one. Daxter I saw the other day at Costco, but thats $217 wish some extra stuff I probably don't need. best Buy has the NFL one for $179.99. Would that be a good choice if I want to hack it?
thanks for the response orangecrush18 |

So it can make an MS duo out of two micro SD cards? That's pretty nifty.

So are the problems with the 3000 real or not? I've heard of a 3001 model does it have the same problems? Will a new model be out before Christmas? I want to buy one for my son for Christmas, so I can wait... Or should I just buy the 2000 model.
|
It was confirmed by sony. Why would they lie about their own product. I haven't heard anything about a 3001 and can't imagine it would be out anytime soon.
I just did a search for 3001. It looks like it was submitted to the FCC before the screen problem was out. I think it actually uses the same screen. |
|
Yikes - I'm surprised that got by Sony - they're usually great on hardware, it's software that's usually a problem for them.

Does Crisis Core end after you finished the game? I just want to know if I should do the optional missions before finishing the game. I rather finished the game and do the missions later but if that isn't possible I'll clean them off first.
|
I'm pretty sure it finishes but you get a New Game+ option which lets you keep most of your stuff.
|
so, has anyone tried firmware 5.01 ?
I really like it. It's like having your PS3 in your PSP. :D You can download everything, videos, pictures, themes, and of course, games directly to your PSP. That's a huge step in the right direction for the PSP. |
Okay, I just got a PSP-2000 in a trade for a broken iPhone.
I need to know what exclusive PSP games are a must have. |

Since I finally got wireless hooked up, I had a chance to blow off the dust of my PSP and connect it to my network. I was impressed with the PSN store and downloaded Wild Arms (PSone) for 5 bucks...I love that game and love the fact it had a built in instruction manual.

And here we go....
With 2008 on its merry way out, "publishing sources" have leaked news of a PlayStation Portable update next year to Eurogamer. The PSP 4000, a final refresh model, will appear in late 2009, say these sources, followed by an official successor to the PSP at a later point. Make that 2011 or 2012, then, to speculate logically (and perhaps to coincide with the rumored release timeframe of Sony's PS4?). http://news.yahoo.com/s/pcworld/2008...G3R3E1IK0jtBAF |
