Were the Mega Man remakes still 2D? Granted those are probably done with polygons now. Anyway, I know a few people that loved Mega Man Powered Up and Mega Man X Maverick Hunter.

Powered Up is 2D plane with 3D backgrounds. It was nice, but hard as hell (at least for me).

Well, I got a PSP after work yesterday. The Daxter bundle was surprisingly hard to find - it was almost like I was looking for a Wii. But find one I did, because I'm awesome.

Funny story actually (spoilered, for brevity and just because you may not care):
Spoiler:
So I just decided to hit every store that sold video games starting from ones near my work, working my way up to the ones near my home. Fry's, Micro Center, multiple Targets, Best Buys, Circuit Citys, ToysRUs, even local indie video game stores - no one had any PSPs (I didn't bother with Gamestop though) - most stores haven't recovered since Christmas. But since all these store were pretty much on my way home and, besides pulling into a parking lot, none of them were out of my way, I kept going. I didn't realize how many of these stores there actually are - it's crazy. Anyways, after about 12 stores and 12 complete strike-outs (one Best Buy had a couple of the Star Wars bundles, which I didn't want), I finally get to the last store, a Target within walking distance from my house, and wouldn't you know, they had a couple Daxter bundles. So I go to all these store, and the only one to have one, is the store closest to where I live. I'd be pissed if I didn't appreciate the irony.

One weird thing I noticed was the PSP game selection at each store varied wildly, especially for the games I wanted to get. Most stores had the newer releases (Ratchet, Castlevania), but as for the older ones (Locco Rocco, Mega Man, G&G, etc.), each store seemed to have a single copy of a single title. As in, I only found one copy of G&G (and nothing else I wanted) at a Best Buy but at no other store, or only a single Locco Rocco at a Circuit City, and nowhere else - the G&G was only $9.99, so I snatched that up like a bad habit. Speaking of which, most of the games were pretty cheap. Like, I also got the Mega Mans for $10 each, new. Every store had Castlevania for $30, but Micro Center seemed to have it for only $20. Target had a special on the Ratchet game for $30, down from $40 and so on. So I felt pretty good about the bang I got for my buck.

Anyways, after I got home I had no time to play with it, I just let it charge while I went out with my girlfriend to see Persepolis (great flick, BTW, though a bit of a downer). I got home well after midnight, so I only had time to set it up and update it. And now I'm at work with a bunch of time to kill, writing this (I don't know why I didn't just bring it with me). So I'm looking forward to actually being able to play it pretty soon...

The PSP hardware has been selling great, but because some just get it for multimedia the games have struggled a bit. I think that is why the game selections are so sparse and varied. It seems outside of a few main titles the stores are unsure what to carry. GameStop is really the only place to find the deeper catalog titles outside of online buying.

I was going to pass on Harvey Birdman, but I'm on vacation this coming week and have a softspot for the show. I may breakdown and buy it even though it only takes 4-5 hours to finish. My son wants to play it as well and it is $10 cheaper than the Wii version on PSP so I may get enough value out of it. I still want to beat Rondo and FF Tactics as well so my PSP will probably get a lot of play the next few days.

I am trying to use PSP video 9 to get avi and other mp4 videos converted to my PSP slim.
I've searched & used some help links but the screens they show don't match mine.
When I use the video 9 wizard it does the conversion in less than 2 seconds and the out put file is empty.

Please help this dumy... I figure its just 1 button unchecked somewhere...

ds6161 01-27-08 11:41 PM

1. I still get nothing with PSP video 9.
2. I found "PSP video manager" that copies mp4's over to the PSP...
but they will only play if resolution is 320 x 240.
3. It does not do any converting...
tried a few other converting programs I could find but nothing will play...
SO still need help converting size & mov files to my PSP

bahgee 01-28-08 08:00 AM

I haven't used it in a while, but I had the same problem w/ the PSP video 9 wizard. I think there is an option to do with w/o the wizard and that worked for me IIRC.

ds6161 01-28-08 11:31 AM

After seeing what the wizard does, I tried it manually still no good.
On another screen there is a convert now button = samething.

I listen to 2 psp podcast. They talk about how the psp games don't sell all that well and that people must be using the psp for its multimedia playability.. Yet here I am not able to get stuff on it...

bahgee 01-29-08 08:00 AM

I'll fire mine up tonight or tomorrow and let you know if I get it to work.

Yup, the game looks awesome. I had a pre-order on Gamestop's website, but I think I'll cancel and pre-order it in-store instead so that I can get the demo as soon as it's out.

PixyJunket 02-04-08 01:46 PM

When is the demo going to be available? Oh.. and why is it on a disc?!

UncleGramps 02-04-08 02:22 PM

According to this Playstation blog post from 1/25:

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2008/...-pata-details/

it should be out this week or next. As for putting it on a disc, I guess they wanted to keep it as a pre-order exclusive, which is easier to do with a disc than a download. Personally, I think they should release a downloadable demo through PSN. I suppose they might do that and just have the pre-order disc have the exclusive weapon and the downloadable version exclude the weapon.

I preordered and keep checking every week. I really hope it hits this week.

It is a mess to navigate through.

Try this link at the very bottom of the page.

If that doesn't work I can send you the setup file if you wish. I use XP Pro.

OH thanks.

Tried it. PSP wouldn't recognize file. Tried the same video file with PSP Video 9 and my PSP plays it perfectly.

In Europe it will be it will be downloadable and still include the weapon. They will see it the 21st of February in the online store, I was hoping the UMD version would hit Gamestop this week, but who knows. Shane Bettenhausen (from 1UpYours) has been raving about this game for a couple of weeks on the popcast, I'm really looking forward to trying it out.

Update Gamestop called yesterday afternoon saying that they had received the demo umd's. Picked it up and got to try it out last night after work, found out that I'm not suited for rhythm games at all. I still may pick it up for $20.

ds6161 02-07-08 06:16 PM

Anyone have a recommendation for a good psp SLIM hard shell case??

Also is there a way to get video sound to record louder?
