Re: World of Warcraft Official Thread - Round 3

Blizzard decided to make leveling from 85 to 90 more of a grind by adding 55% to the amount of experience you need at each level.

I am now rethinking buying the expansion. I love alts at max level but dislike leveling a ton. The thought of leveling my 10 level 85's to 90 seems like it will be too much of a grind in MoP.

It isn't going to be that hard really. In the beta it only took 1 or 2 days of solid playing to go up a level, so this isn't going to hurt it too much.

That was the right amount of time. I do not want to spend a solid 2-3 days or more to level each alt.

See I think questing is a major component of the game. A 1 or 2 day speed bump to get to level 90 is way way too short. It should take several weeks, and should not be structured were it feels like a grind.

If not, why even have it? Not that I would play a questless WOW

I play Wow for the end game. Raiding and the like. I try to get all 10 alts to max and level all their professions to max so that I have the most possible options for raiding.

Leveling is that thing I am forced to do in order to play the game I want to play.

I guess I will just hold off buying the expansion until I hear what they decide the final numbers will be.

You sound like my brother-in-law. Loves raiding, and BG's, hates questing and leveling with a passion.

As for me, I enjoy it, especially with alts. In Cata you could start in Hyjal or Vash, then go to Deep, and then either hit Uldum or TH. Always a new experience if the zone gets boring, and though the quests are the same, it never feels tedious because you're using a different character.

It's like dailies with charm.

I went back and gave the beta another try this week. I found myself enjoying being back in Azeroth after being away for a year. Might have to give it another go round. It would feel weird not playing an expansion at launch, since I've been around for all the others.

I'm starting to get excited for the expansion now. Just bought the digital deluxe version online, and decided my new mail will be a monk, so I've been spending nights grinding up mats for a quick leveling process.

I actually found it real strange. Blizzard is talking about more fighting between the factions then they have a strange almost comic scene where the two opposing faction people join forces against a Panda.

Rather underwhelming I must say.

I liked it.

That was pretty badass. I like how they are basically saying "Fuck it, giant pandas!" and just going for it.

Argh. Can't decide if I want to watch that cinematic or wait and be surprised at launch. Damn you temptresses! ;)

I watched it. And I re-activated my account. I'm so weak-willed.

Kind of random, but would anyone want a free copy of Cataclysm? Or know someone that would make use of it? I can just send the key via PM or email.

The pre Mist patch is up now. But not surprisingly, the downtime has been extended twice already.

2pm PDT is the latest.

EDIT:

Extended a third time to 3pm PDT.

Not liking the new talent system or losing relics, ranged, etc.

They took out guild summons which bites.

Just a meh patch.

Re: World of Warcraft Official Thread - Round 3

I actually really like the changes so far. Losing the ranged slot meant nothing to every class (except hunters) except that they lost a stat stick.

And I'm happy that they made talents and glyphs easier to manage. As someone who doesn't have the time to do endless outside research, it makes it easier for me to play my toons without having to worry about having the wrong glyphs or talent in my spec.

I really like the account-wide mounts, pets and achievements too. All in all, I've been pretty happy so far. Except for the dozen or so add-ons that aren't fixed yet. :grumble:

Ok, I played a bit more and it's growing on me.

I took my Mage out for a spin in Tol Barad for the dailies, and was destroying everything. I mean I could crit for 50k before and I was dealing 90k crits today. A buddy I talked to said he read that some people were saying their dps went down and others went insanely high.

He said he crit Deathwing for 196k and he's a Hunter.

gcribbs 08-30-12 04:42 AM

Re: World of Warcraft Official Thread - Round 3

My hunter DPS seemed to go down some. While a number of people in my raid saw a large increase in DPS.

It was kind of sad to see how far my Hunter fell. From 1st or second on almost every fight to middle at best on most fights.

I refuse to respec as BM so It looks like if I want to continue raiding I will need to reroll a new class. I am thinking a Mage.

Even with the changes and people randomly Dcing or lagging at times we still managed to do a full heroic clear of DS and get another person his mount.

we hope to get at least every person a kill who has helped us in the past few months. I think we have 2-3 more mounts to still get.

Re: World of Warcraft Official Thread - Round 3

I am running my mage as frost since arcane is broken until we get our level 90 talents. He was tearing it up in the couple of dungeons I ran. And I never ran out of mana either. It was pretty sweet.

Yeah, I've heard BM is the way to go now for hunters. I will give it a try this weekend and see how it goes.

I've turned off all the addons I can live without and I'm still getting pretty bad lag spikes. I really hope it's server issues and not on my end. I have a pretty good rig. I can't see how it wouldn't be able to run the game reasonably well now. :grumble:

For anyone who cares, the Theramore Scenario is launching today instead of tomorrow. :)

Since I am Alliance I am going to skip the scenario and keep Theramore undamaged for a bit longer.

I figure there is no need to play it since I know we already lose.
