Its a bunch of switch and carry brand third party accessories. Personally I thought them overpriced and crappy. Target does have a cool Wii gift card that lights up.

Yeah, I kind of have some of the same concerns the writer had. It will surely be really cool doing the actual motions for games for a while, but will the novelty of it all wear off quickly?

Will it end up being a case of "which system has the better games?" And will the Wii be able to compete with PS3 in that department? I'm excited to play Zelda, but other than that, the only games I'm excited about are ones that utilize the remote to the fullest extent. If that gets to be a chore, I'm not so sure I wouldn't be better off getting a 360 or PS3 for the better graphics and possibly(?) better game selection.

If prices were closer together, I'd probably be leaning away from the Wii, but the price difference is what's keeping it on the top of my list at the moment.

*RUMOR* Best Buy Wii inventory numbers

This info was sent in by reader Dpcough, from a man he says is a trusted source. The post appeared over at the GameTrailers forums. Once again, this is not confirmed, but let’s hope it turns out to be true!

One of the leaders in retail, best buy will be a getting AT LEAST this many. After taking an average of diverse locations directly from Best Buy’s retail stock system(RSS) the total number units indicated is approximately 80-90 units. this ranges from 120 in the more popular stores to just 24 in bufu. not only that, but games such as red steel will be roughly 60 in number, and trauma center 30. these are just PRELIMINARY, that is the very first order for all stores. by November, i will have updated this and it will probably at least double by that time. now, supposedly best buy was supposed have gotten their shipment of Wii today 10/28 or tomorrow 10/29, this date was pushed back to the launch day of 11/19 most likely to stop the overload of employees checking. again, this is tentative inventory that has yet to be received by ANY stores, but it is the actual information from the inventory orders.

Yay! Cooking Mama for the Wii!

Iron Chef: Wii... Nice.

Instead of looking through 4 part several pages of Wii discussion, there was some little things I was wondering and I hope some can help me out here.

With that goofy controller, how am I suppose to play the older games that require the entire controller. This new one seems to be missing alot of buttons. Do I have to use this controller or can I use the GC one? The new one seems to be 'primitive'

Ive had Zelda on preorder at BBV for over a year and they tell me its a GC release and will be out Dec 15. Isnt this a launch title? What up?

Thanks for any help guys.

spainlinx0 10-30-06 03:39 PM

You can use your Gamecube controller for GC games.

Zelda for the cube is coming out in December. The Wii version will be a launch title. It's the same game, different controls, and I believe the GC version isn't progressive scan.

SpaceBoy 10-30-06 03:44 PM

Sorry if this has been covered, but I see they have monkey ball coming out for it, any ideas if it's multi online?

pinata242 10-30-06 03:54 PM

None of the initial offerings are online.

Apparently there is still one more "big" secret about the Wii to be revealed around launch.

http://www.gamepro.com/community/ask...egory=nintendo

Q: I recently went into a GameStop store to see if they had a Wii Kiosk and pick up the new Splinter Cell. While I was in there, I began to discuss the Wii system with the manager of the store. He explained Nintendo recently held a GameStop Managers kind of meet and greet for the Wii, with Reggie present. He also said Reggie announced their is still one more big secret left on the Wii, which will be revealed around launch. I called another store and the manager there said Reggie did in fact say such a thing. My question is have you heard any of this? Do you have any speculation as to what it may be? I have heard it is potentially a graphics solution or a camera attachment.

RiceBurner

A: Wow, you're up on your stuff. I can confirm that there was a GameStop retreat and Reggie did in fact say there will be another big Wii revelation around launch time.

As to what I think this new announcement might be? I have no idea. However, I'd think it would most likely be specs related (since Nintendo is still hush-hush about what the Wii actually incorporates). My second theory is that the revelation will be about Wii's online capabilities.
Anyone have any other ideas as to what it could be. The one I saw on CAG that seemed most likely to me is that Wiiplay (the minigame bundle with the shooting game etc.) will also be packed in. Seems reasonable as it's a launch title bundled with a Wiimote in Japan, but there hasn't been a whisper of it here even though it's been on the Nintendo Fusion Tour.

It would at least make the $250 a little less disappointing to those of us that were expecting $200.

Jeremy517 10-30-06 06:09 PM

Sounds right. Another possibility could be some free VC points.

pinata242 10-30-06 06:09 PM

I just can't see that as an additional pack-in.

I bet it's the single friend code concept. Something that hasn't been announced, is necessary, and won't be earth-shattering.

If that's the case - IGN spoiled it with their video run through of the Wii channels.

pinata242 10-30-06 06:16 PM

Well, it's not like they spoiled the WPA support! Wait...

That's just it, I've lowered my expectations of their "surprises". I'd be happy to hear that MP3 will be online as well.

I don't know. They are giving it away more or less in Japan, just with the Wiimote rather than the console.

It's not something that's going to sell on its own.

I'm hoping its something like Wiiplay or VC points. They need to offer something for earlier adopters to get us to jump in on launch day. Really pissed they aren't offering Wiiplay with a free remote in the US.

Brent L 10-30-06 06:41 PM

It wouldn't shock me if they gave away a second controller (both parts) for a while.

Don't get your hopes up for anything "major" though.

I'm hoping this is it, but I highly doubt it. I could go for that or offer WiiPlay bundled with a controller/nunchuck combo.

It could also simply be a game. Kid Icarus? Mario Galaxy done early in time for Christmas?

Detective Thorn 10-30-06 07:20 PM

Personally, I think that Wii Play as a second pack-in would make a certain amount of sense. (For the reasons Josh stated)

What I would really like to see would be the announcement some sort of updated Gameboy Player for the Wii. There is probably almost no chance of that happening though.

Voila!

Brent L 10-30-06 07:43 PM

If they include two controllers, or two games, I'm willing to bet that will hook the few people who decided to wait on the system, and they'll get it right away.

tonyc3742 10-30-06 07:55 PM

I think it's somewhat silly to sell a console you're pushing as multiplayer, with only one controller. A second controller would definitely make it more attractive to me.
