I just noticed the $20 difference in price on the reg. versions. I don't think so. Looks interesting, but not $20 premium interesting. Eff that. Especially if it is missing content from the cheaper versions. These companies are out of their fucking minds.

How do you have Double Agent? I didn't know it was out already? I would be glad to take it off your hands if you are still selling it.

What'd they change to make you hate it? Or is it general disdane for the series (it took me a while to warmup to the original, but now it's one of my favorites)?

Passing on the SE, picking up reg. version tonight for sure. SC is one the few series I'll pay full price for but I'm happy to do it w/this one. Supposed to be excellent...

it's a DAMN excellent game.
the special edition is definitely worth it.

at first, i was bummed the case is plastic.
not metal, like halo 2 or doom 3.
but then i realized, you can set it with your other games, and not be able to tell a difference.
which is nice.

The graphics are incredible on the 360 (e.g. you see Sam's breath in the cold weather, etc.). There are some changes that are taking a while to get used to, feels like less spoonfed direction and more open-ended, which is just fine but tricky (at least so far). The sound is superb and so far I am totally lovin' this game...

I started playing last night and I like it. Graphics are great, and it's not super easy at "Normal" difficulty.

FYI-
The regular version of this is only $50 at Toys R Us. And if you can spend another $25 on something and use the Friends and Family 20% $75 or more coupon, you're actually getting it for 40 bucks.

Got mine last night. Haven't played yet, though.

How does this compare to Clancy's GRAW? This would be my first Splinter Cell.

Or if you don't want to spend more, use your Deal Or No Deal TRU ad from the Sunday paper. DEAL gets you an automatic 10% off the item, if you choose NO DEAL and try to win a big prize you'll still get 5% off if you don't win something big.

So now I ask.... DEAL or NO DEAL?

GRAW is a tactical shooter where you work as part of a team. Splinter Cell is a stealth game where you work solo.

In GRAW there is basically no stealth. You just go in and kill all the bad guys. Of course, you can't just barge in like a Doom-game or you will get killed. You have to use tactics like using cover and smoke grenades.

Splinter Cell is possible to play as an action/shooter, but that method is MUCH harder than hiding in shadows and avoiding enemies. Splinter Cell has the "realistic" damage where you can only take a couple shots before dying. If you get in a gunfight with enemies, you WILL lose. It is much better to sneak around in shadows and take enemies out undetected one-by-one. Some missions have civilians walking around, and you fail the mission if you kill them. There are also missions where you are required to not kill anyone at all, enemy or civilian. Those missions will really test your stealth skills.

Just picked this up today, I was at Best Buy where all the had was the CE. So I walked over to circuit city and picked up the non CE edition there. I'm not to good at stealth, that's why I never completed the Thieves guild in Oblivion. Oh Heck! this game just looked to good to pass by.

Has anyone seen this at Blockbuster? I wanted to rent it today and didn't see it on the shelf, so I asked an employee when they were going to get it. The employee typed it into the computer and said nothing came up. She said the next 360 game they're getting is Marvel UA.

For a first Splinter Cell, it's a GREAT one. I'm loving the "Double Agent" aspect, and the jailbreak mission is incredibly cool. If you don't mind stealth vs. pure "run & gun," I seriously doubt you'd be disappointed...

IGN Ratings for Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent (X360)

9.0 Presentation
High production values create a thick, heavy atmosphere and a rich in-depth storyline. Yes, a real storyline. Excellent interface, objective pages and menus.

9.0 Graphics
This gorgeous game is layered with multiple textures, special effects, and slick animations. It delivers 30 FPS with occasional drops in both single and multiplayer modes.

9.5 Sound
Excellent sound effects coincide with the dynamic soundtrack. There is surprisingly worthwhile dialog.

9.0 Gameplay
Sharper AI and more NPCs help to create a tighter stealth game. A wide variety of levels plus branching storylines equal great Splinter Cell.

9.0 Lasting Appeal
The single-player game is about 8-10 hours; but you'll want to play it again. The 3-on-3 MP mode is more accessible than Chaos Theory's co-op mode and is progressively more fun.

9.0 Outstanding OVERALL
(out of 10 / not an average)

This is my first Splinter Cell. Pretty fun so far. I'm only through the prison break level. Reminds me a lot of Chronicles of Riddick... which is a good thing.

How the heck do you hack stuff? In the first level, all I see is a bunch of numbers and I keep pressing buttons only to fail. Do you have to guess or am I doing it all wrong?

If you sit and watch the numbers, eventually there will be one (or more) in each column that doesn't change. Just select those numbers in each column that stay on one number, and you should be good. At least that's how it works on easy. I'm not sure if its more difficult on normal or hard.

I was playing on normal, so who knows. I'll try and see if your advice works.

I'm playing on normal, that is the way it works on all difficulties. It tells you in the manual how to do it.
