I was first on the list at my local FYE when they started taking Wii pre-orders in July. I'm also #1 on their PS3 list... for their second shipment
(which, of course, means probably March 2007 if I'm lucky)

No problem at all. Anyone know what the memory card situation is going to be? I read something about an SD Expansion something or other. Will you be able to save to SD cards?

Thanks for the Amazon info. My Amazon Prime is running out in a week, so I went ahead and put in my order now. Thinking back, I probably should have chosen the $3.99 next day shipping on this order.

Hmm, I'm on amazon now and i don't see any way to preorder it. It just says "alert me when this item becomes available to order."

They must have just changed it. I pre-ordered on Amazon, then went back to the Wii page and they changed it to notify.

Apparently they just recently moved it from a pre-order item to a "not yet available" item...
I decided to put an order in about an hour ago and it was working then. I went with one-day shipping, but they apparently don't ship stuff out for next-day shipping on weekends, so I'm thinking I'd get it on Tuesday, maybe Monday at the earliest. I am hoping to get one on Sunday if at all possible, but since Amazon doesn't charge your card until they ship, and they let you cancel an order pretty easily, I'll keep this order as a backup. I'm thinking I'll go to a 24-hour Wal-Mart or see if Target does a midnight sale or something, because I want a Wii the moment they're available.
Hopefully we'll get some solid numbers a week or two before launch so I have time to cancel the pre-order if they'll be easy to find on the 19th.

I saw that also....thought that was pretty funny. Typical Amazon website goofiness. Hopefully, they stopped taking additional preorders in order for them to guarantee a system for previously placed orders.

I preordered from amazon as well. Although I'm not confident they will honor the preorders. Did anybody call to confirm if the preorder availability was real or just a premature error? Anyway, from my experience, Amazon does not always process FIFO so I elected one day shipping.

True. However, I'll be happy just to get one close to launch. I want a Wii but it doesn't fall into the "must have it the day it's released" category.
