Kotaku had something like this about Sony and never even followed up on it. It's sad when news about possible news is news.

Sony price drop!

I wouldn't mind that at all. Gets me closer to eventually getting one, should the need arise.

If you mean Sony's stock, that one I can tell you about without waiting for midnight.

But I doubt Sony will drop the price when they're losing $300 on every console sold.

I seriously doubt it. Why lower the price when they won't be shipping as many of them as they wanted, and they will sell out anyway?

It could be the PSP though. With rumors of a redesign, they may be ready to drop the price on the original model. EDIT: never mind-I noticed it said one of the next-generation consoles.

But I agree it's probably 360 related. If not the addon, maybe a price drop or announcement of a new bundle.

I doubt it is this because they imply the news is something to get excited about with the line "but you have our word that this announcement is something worth waiting for". Unless you work for Microsoft or Nintendo I can't see why you'd be excited about that info. And besides, I don't think Sony would want any build up for bad news, so there'd be no reason for a delay. They'd just report it and be done with it.

I have a second cousin who has a third cousin on his other side of the family who has a gf whose dad's brother works for Microsoft, and he told me that the announcement will be that there will be a shortage of 360 systems for Christmas 2007.
