So, those that played the demo and now have it, is it better? I mean, the demo seemed sort of repetitive. But, everyone here seems to be giving it a glowing review. I'm reconsidering my reconsideration of not getting it now.

Like I said earlier:

I'd just like to say to everyone here, don't just play the demo and think that's enough, and that there's no reason to buy the game. There is a lot more to this game than what you see in the demo, way more. Even the simple act of killing zombie after zombie is far different in the full game, and it's a lot more tense and entertaining.

Not sure if that's just a typo, but it's the Y button that you press to get survivors to follow you. Of course, they tend to get attacked by zombies all too often, and then you have to go save them. I haven't used this feature much, but you can also target an area using the R trigger aiming mode and then hit Y to tell survivors to move towards that area. I'm with you though, I don't care much right now if the survivors get mowed down. In fact, one of the funniest moments I've seen involved a male survivor's death scene in which a female zombie straddled him 69-style and started chowing down on his crotch.

That would've netted you some good PP photo points if you caught it.

I don't know why, but that struck me as f'ing hillarious.

Im picking up my game tomorrow from Gamerush. I wish GR would get their games in on launch day instead of 3 days later!

I think BrentLumkin makes a good point. In the demo, I didn't get much sense of danger or a real feeling that the odds were against me. But in the full game, the time requirements, number of zombies, and the stress of helping survivors gives it a much better feel and a lot more tension. There's still a good deal of humor, but you've got more of a sense of purpose in the full game.

Still, I'd recommend renting first, especially if you didn't really enjoy the demo. It seems quite possible to beat the initial 72-hour mode within a couple of days. For some people, that single play through might be enough, in which case a purchase might be a waste. But for me, there's enough there to warrant at least a few runs through the entire game. You can't possibly save all the survivors, beat all the psychopaths, find all the weapons, and get all the achievements in a single run through the game. The question is whether the game grabs you enough to want to play through the whole thing multiple times. If so, it's well worth a purchase, but I don't know if you can figure that out just by playing the demo version. Just my two cents.

Unfortunately it was a non-interactive mini cutscene, otherwise it definitely would've been a great photo-op.

I think the demo is enough to go by when deciding to rent it or buy it. If you like the demo, and want to kill a ton of zombies while following a storyline, and doing different objectives, then buy the game. If you played the demo and thought it sucked, or just thought it was cool but you don't really want to buy it, then I say don't even bother renting it - just play the demo over and over again.

Almost every source for reviews is giving this game a solid 80-90%. I don't believe I've seen anything less so far. That tells you that it's a perfectly fine game, great even, with one or two little problems that are easy enough to overcome so that it doesn't really get in the way of the overall enjoyment of the game. If ever there was a new and original game that you knew what you were getting into when you buy it, this is that game.

Maybe it was hyped like that because it was apparently banned in Germany for being too violent/gory?

I can live with the missions and the survivor crap but the boss battles in this game are gonna drive me over the edge.

Spoiler:
The 2nd meeting with Carlito is kicking my ass. I have 3 things of OJ, an uzi and a handgun. I think I may be leaving myself exposed for too long but it never seems like I get much damage done to him before he nails me.

Spoiler:
This one took me a while, and here's what worked for me. I had 3 OJs, plus a katana and the sub-machine gun. At the start of the fight, I walked up the steps and went left to the sports store. I dropped an OJ and picked up the skateboard. For a while I just skated around to distract Carlito while Brad took shots at him. If you're lucky, you can charge at Carlito while on the board (keep weaving to make sure he misses if he takes a shot at you) and run into him to do a little damage. You can also get off the skateboard if you get close to him and swipe the katana (or another melee weapon) at him for some good damage. He may run away and drop a grenade behind him. If he does that, hang back and take a few shots at him. I found that strategy to work pretty well - get close to him on the board, hop off the board, take a swipe, wait for him to run, take a few shots, then skate away. Keep an eye on Brad's health - if he dies, you fail the case and can't finish future cases - but keep in mind that he's shooting at Carlito too. He can do a lot of damage if you keep Carlito distracted. Good luck, it's much tougher than the first Carlito battle.

MasterofDVD: I thought pressing "Y" told the survivors to follow you. Have you been pressing "X"? :-)

Only complaint I have is that one of my followers got stuck in the fountain wher I found the uzi. Ugh! He would not jump out! I also found out later that you can give the survivors food and weapons. :-)

Same here. I'm not looking to buy it though. I'm just waiting for Blockbuster to get it in so I can rent it.

Chances are they already have it in. If you are calling, they will tell you it comes out on Friday (they say this about every game). That is the rental release date. Tell them you are buying a copy and have them check the shelf if necessary. Oh, and don't bother pre-ordering from GR...if you aren't there the minute it comes in, there is a good chance that they will sell it to the first person that walks in the door.

My friend that lives 30 min away called his local Blockbuster and they told him they have it, but can't rent it out until tomorrow. So for the hell of it, I called mine, and they said they had 1 (out of 5) left available for rent. I asked if they could hold it and they said no, since people have been calling all day for it. When I got there, the game wasn't on the shelf, so I asked and they had the last copy behind the desk. Too bad I have to wait until tonight to play.

Spoiler:
But is Brad even doing damage to Carlito at all? I wore that SOB down to no health, as far as I could tell on my TV, and then ran out of bullets. I ran around while Brad shot at him. Brad plugs him for a bit and before I know it Brad and the Professor are dead and I'm fucked yet again!

Edited to add:
Spoiler:
The last time I fight Carlito was a freaking close call. He was aiming at me as I aimed at him and whoever was shot next was dying. The skateboard method didn't work for me at all so I went into the jewelry store behind him and took shots when I could. The medicine run mission was thankfully a MUCH easier boss battle but it was a really close call getting there, fighting and get back in the alloted time. I had to turn the game off for the night after that!

I heard people who have Standard TVs are complaining that the text is unreadable in the game. You should see the amount of people bitching at the xbox forums, it shows you how many people still don't have HD sets most of them probably kids.

Hell, my 30" HD is so far away I can't read it either, it's just too small, they need a text size option.

so how exactly do you get a score in this game? I've been playing for a bit but when I check out the leaderboards including my friends list mine shows nothing.
