Want the GC version? It won't be 480p & Anamorphic
Still want the GC version? Wait a few weeks until after the wii.
Are you still sure you want the GC version? You have to order exclusively through our online store.
No matter, the Wii version is for me.

While I do think it's lame to only offer the game through the online store (if they end up doing that here) I completely agree with the concerns of customer confusion.
That said, it's Nintendo's own fault for creating the mess, but I understand why they are doing it this way.

I could see this coming in the US as well. Would explain why Gamestop/EB called people and asked if they wanted to switch their GC Zelda preorders to the Wii.
They really had nothing to gain by doing so as they'll sell all their Wiis on launch day anyway, and stores make pretty much nothing on console sales anyway.
Maybe they know that GC zelda isn't coming to stores, and did the switch promotion as a way to try to lose less sales?

I highly doubt they would only sell it online, Nintendo has always been good to the customer and us (I work at Gamestop). That would totally screw me over for the hundreds of pre-orders I have for the cube version!
As far as people saying this is the end for Gamecube...I thought it was obvious that the Gamecube has been dead for like a year

Meh...guess I'll just wait. Perhaps play Wind Waker or Ocarina again.
That said, I'm pretty disappointed in how Nintendo has handled this whole thing. I understand why they did it from a business standpoint, but I'm still disappointed.

I don't really like the way they are going about this, offering it only online. It is sure to dissapoint a lot of people since the story has constantly changed for Zelda. First it was Zelda TP for the gamecube with extra controls if you play it on the Wii, then two separate versions, now the originally announced version is only available from Nintendo's online store. Kind of a blow to people who might have purchased a cube for Zelda TP since now it will available online, probably only at full price. But I guess that is another reason not to base console buying on games that are coming out in the future.
I will be buying the Wii version, so this won't affect me.

Not so fast smart guy:
NOA officially says:
Online reports about the Nintendo GameCube version of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess are incorrect. The amazing game will be available at retail outlets nationwide on Dec. 13
