Considering it takes "1/3" the effort and budget to make a Wii game simply because the standard resolution, it will be easier for Nintendo and 3rd parties to publish games quicker with lower costs exactly as we have seen on the DS. |

Sequals to the same games? Or perhaps some amazing Mario Sports titles. I read about Final Furlong, that should be a breakthrough title!! Heres a link to describe it.
http://www.joystiq.com/2006/05/10/wi...final-furlong/ Or you could go after Plankton in Spongebob or collect more Pokemon. Oh and that magnificent FF Crystal Chronicles which not even FF fans even remember.. I just need something more then what ive seen to see what the excitement is about. Can someone PLEASE tell me whats so exciting other then the price? Also, any argument or point you make is only diminished when you continually indicate Nintendo is all about Pokemon and Spongebob. No one on here is saying they're excited for those titles, so you're addressing a segment of games with no relevance to the discussion. Additionally, the Gamecube brought us Pikmin (1&2), Luigi's Mansion, Star Wars Rogue Squadron (2&3), Eternal Darkness, Metroid Prime (1&2), Resident Evil 4 (and the remakes), Animal Crossing, and tons of enjoyable multi-console third party games such as X-men Legends (1&2), Spiderman 2, Lego Star Wars, Beyond Good & Evil, Lord of the Rings (TT&ROTK), etc., etc., etc. Insisting Nintendo is only for things like Pokemon makes it seem like you aren't very informed about the type of games typically available on Nintendo systems. |
Oh man would i swoon over a new Eternal Darkness with the Wii controller.

Again, ill beleive it when i see a 29.99 madden for Wii on the shelf. I have 0 doubts games will remain 49.99 and the consumer will pay it, thinking its justified because the system cost less anyway. In fact, if Zelda came in at 59.99, i wouldnt be in the LEAST bit shocked. The point here is that it offers smaller developers the opportunity to create new things affordably, while providing the big hitters the opportunity to readily launch new franchises and cement current ones further. (Again, exactly as we are seeing on the DS) |

But it's game library is lagging far behind the DS in terms of highly reviewed games. And the gap is just going to grow wider. Sony hardly mentioned the PSP and there were a ton of killer games announced for the DS. I don't care how much a console sales. I care how many games it has that I PERSONALLY want to play. Again, I see that Nintendo isn't your cup of tea. But for many of us, they put out more than enough games to keep us happy and their games are among our all time favorites. There not for you, and you don't get the appeal. That's fine. I don't get why people love the GTA games, and think they suck balls personally. But I'm not going to go into the PS3 or 360 thread and say its going to sell like crap because they only have a few games that I PERSONALLY like. They will sell fine because millions love those games. And the DS will continue to sell well with its game line up and the Wii will follow suit, as millions love those games even though you do not. I have no doubt the Wii will finish in 3rd place again this gen. And I also have no doubt that it will bar none have the most games that fit my tastes. And in the end that's all I care about. |
I agree with a lot of your points made. Its all personal preferences. I was just pointing out the DS/PSP specific items because everyone talks about DS being the champ when it doesnt look like it is on paper. I do not get into portable gaming, nore do i care for it, but i do admit the DS has those great castlevania games and brain age does look neat. Id still buy a PSP if i had to buy a portable system. That new ghouls and ghosts looks amazing!
Im done with the Wii comments for now, i've made my point on the system and how i feel about it. Re-addressing them will not be changing anyones opinions. |
BTW, the PSP and DS are both pretty awesome. I own both and at this point would not part with either one. My biggest gripe about E3 is the lack of love Sony seemed to show the PSP.

You go in DS threads, read DS coverage in magazine and websites, and people are gushing over all the great games and wondering when they'll have time to play all the games coming out. You do the same for the PSP, and you see people largely stating it's awesome hardware, but bemoaning the lack of games that aren't just shovelware PS2 ports and spinoffs. And I'm talking outside of fanboy single console websites, and only refering to multiplatform magazine and websites/forums. It's a consequence of the PSPs graphical power, it just isn't cost effective to spend millions building essentially a new PS2 game from the ground up to sell it to the much smaller PSP user base, when they could make it for the PS2 with it's huge user base and rush a port over to the PSP. The DS is much cheaper to develop for, and thus you get more games and more unique games that offer gameplay that can't be had on the consoles. |
I wouldnt know about the portable situation. I just know i hate konami for making all these amazing castlevania 2-d games and not putting them on ps2 LOL =) I loved SOTN so much and would love more of the same!
After ive had time to think about everything that happened at E3, me trying out all the playable demos on xbox live and really considering whats been announced, ive really re-evalulated what i first thought. The PS3 actually lost a lot of my intrest now. 499 was what i thought it would be. It is, but not one with HDMI. That to me is not future proof enough, and 599 is too much for a console. Ontop of nothing i saw i must have right away (i know KH3 and GOW3 will be PS3, but those are far, far away.), i dont forsee me getting a PS3 anytime soon. The Wii does nothing for me, so its out. The 360 really impresses me more and more. Any big exclusives that sony had, seems like MS is getting them. I still have a lot of major PS2 games comming out that i can still play (GOW2, FF12) that will keep me occupied. The XLA really shines in putting the old school multi-player feel back into the mix. So overall, im WAY happier with my 360 now, then i was when i actually got it. Gears of War footage literally blew me away. That game is absolutely mind blowing. Lost planet really impressed me as well for it being so early. And i just got done playing some MotoGP 06 on Live, and man it was a blast! NO LAG! Very excited. Im going to stick with MS for a while. Its going to be a long time till something i NEED to play comes out on PS3, and by then ill get one for a insane price like i did my 360. So yah, thats where im at now. |

I have a feeling Darkside was being sarcastic. If there are 40 psp's at his Target and no DS's, then it's safe to assume the DS has sold out while the PSP is collecting dust. Also, I'm pretty sure the Sony store doesn't get many shipments of Nintendo DS.
Blitz, I challenge you to come up with at least 3 360 games that are coming out that are so different and/or innovative. I mean, like you said, what's all the excitement about? (Disclaimer: I like most of these games, but for the sake of argument will somewhat bash them.) Halo 3: New graphics, new locales. Gameplay is NOT different. The WAY YOU CONTROL THE GAME HAS BEEN AROUND FOREVER. Every fps plays just like it. Gears of War: Over the shoulder view most prominently displayed in Resident Evil 4 on (ghasp!) Gamecube. G.R.A.W. uses it as well. Otherwise great graphics, but nothing NEW. GTA4: Who knows. Nothing was shown, but I could care less. GTA has been innovative though, but if you're going to argue that Nintendo keeps rehashing the same games then I suggest you don't even mention this. Ninety Nine Nights: Dynasty Warriors for 360. Too Human: God of War for 360. DOA X2: DOA X for 360. Crackdown/Saint's Row: Just add these to all the other urban bullshit coming out. Rockstar presents: Table Tennis: This one's funny. If I wanna play ping pong I'll go to my friend's house... or at least play a more lifelike simulation on the Revolution. Call of Duty 3/Brothers in Arms: Sequels. They also play like Halo, but on earth. Oh wait... Halo's gonna be on earth too. Nevermind. Alan Wake: This one is actually intriguing from the trailer I saw, but then again it looks like more survival horror. Shadowrun: Looks like shit. Bullet Witch: Looks like Shadowrun. Stranglehold: Shoot em up with destructable environments. Again, nothing NEW. I could go on, but it wouldn't change your mind anyway... nor should it. You like what you like and that's fine, but please don't argue that Nintendo does the same thing. At the very least, when I get the new Zelda or Metroid it will PLAY like something new. Halo will feel like Halo. |
And I wonder why I don't often venture in these grounds. Too much pee-pee fighting between systems and their supporters.
I can say this without having any bias towards any system. I thought Nintendo's booth section and the wait to get into it was a turn off. I am impressed how they managed to get what looked like a god awful controller into something that can very well change the way people play games.. let alone look silly in the comfort of their own home the likes of which DDR and guitar hero only wished they could. Playstation had a lot of stuff out and I'm just going with the flow of things and getting one because.. well, my ps2 died a long time ago and I've been meaning to catch up on my games I never got to play through. I liked how open their set up was this year Xbox. I don't really care for the selection they had on the floor but then again it wasn't my personal choice for flight sims or shooters on home systems. Their lay out was ten folds better than last year and the year before. South Hall always gets my favor because it's about game companies. There was a lot of swag to be had and I sure had it. Also, who ever got Bawls to do a mint should be shot. I don't want Bawls in my mouth and I sure as hell didn't like how they foamed in there. |
You know, I started this thread, and I was arguing with myself over the 360 vs. PS3. I was leaning toward a PS3.
I've changed my mind based on E3... The Xbox 360 looks like it has a better set of coming games. I have little doubt that towards the end of the generation lifecycle, the PS3 will have better looking games... but we're a long way from that. I'm not a high def gamer (yet) but I really can't see any reason to pay 200 bucks more. I will primarily play the Wii (as I mostly use the cube this gen) but there are certain experiences I can't get on it that I enjoy, namely GTA and the WWE smackdown series... but those are both no longer exclusive to the Sony system. I'll probably get a Sony console at some point, but I'm seeing no good reason deal with the mania that will ensue at launch and not wait out a price drop... or two. |

For the most part, everything has been done. It's just a matter of doing things a bit better each time (graphics, gameplay, story)..... What do expect to see that's new? Unless you're talking about some of the crazy Japanese on acid type games....... It's all been done |

Steelgear and Blitz - if you want to continue your pissing match, take it to email. We don't need to see any system bashing, your games are less innovative than mine crap in these threads. If you don't take it to email, you will be suspended. |
What I learned is that Metal Gear Solid 4 is going to be the best thing......ever.

Does a game have to be "innovative" to be good or worth looking forward to?

But yet I'll still buy the DS/GBA castlevania games again and again as they're great games even though they're 100% retreads that add very little new each time. At the same time they've long since quit bing "OMG must buy this on release day!" games for me. Where as something like Zelda on Wi I'm excited for as it is another game in one of my favorite systems, but looks to feel a ton different due to the controller, morphing into a wolf, etc. And stuff that's totally random like Warioware when it came out gets me much more exicted as it's just more fun playing something that's unlike anything you've ever played before. |
