Spore!
Did anyone else watch the short bit of coverage on G4's E3 show today? I thought that creature creator they showed was absolutely incredible. I could see messing around with that alone for weeks. It just looked phenomenal. This has to be one of my most anticipated games EVER.
Now I just hope it comes out sometime in the next few years.

I am super excited for Spore, I have been following it for over a year now. That video above is from GDC last year.
Should be an awesome game, and with Will Wright behind it all the way, you know it will be polished. I think to really enjoy this game you will need to play on the PC, screw the ds.

I must be alone in this but I don't understand the excitement over this. So you can make creatures which you can control...
And...?
It looks to be the ultimate god game but I just don't see how it's fun.
(Disclaimer: I though the Sims was interesting but it didn't hold my attention for more than a couple of days. Si***** I can play over and over again. This looks more like The Sims to me than Si*****.)

The main "excitement" is over the real-time "ecosystems" you create. There are literally billions of possible evolutionary outcomes in the game. So you get to see how 1 small thing that occured in the begining effects a civilization thousands of years later.

In the original 30 minute video I saw, it just looked like a fun game (and I never liked The Sims). Basically started as a cell, splitting, evolving and hitting land. The character maker is done through scripting and you can pretty much create your own attacking methods (hands clamping together creates crush, and the like).
The fun, imo, comes from after your creature is out of water, you claim your land by killing off predators and eating your prey. You build your community, get it on with your female equal, spawn and the game turns into an RTS. Unlike most, though, you have the freedom to design your own city through molding and shaping, and then (at least according to the original video) your creation (buildings, mansions, castles, whatever) will be added to an online database, which you can also pull from. Past that, you get the UFO. Not sure how deep the RTS game gets before that, will have to wait and see. Once you hit up the UFO, you can sculpt your planet (volcanos, oceans, etc; ), and go conquer other ones (the War of the Worlds/Close Encounters bit was hillarious).
So basically, it's Sim City on a galactical scale with RTS elements thrown in. Seems fun to me.

So there are rumblings that this will come out for the 360 as well, huh? I saw that today and was very happy to hear that. I can't keep my PC caught up to be the gaming rig it should be so I'll be very happy if they make a console version. If they don't I really hope the DS version becomes a reality.

Spore video from E3. The first 20 something minutes is played by Will Wright, and at around 24 minutes in Robin Williams plays it. Got the link from someone over at Anandtech.

I got to see the Spore E-3 presentation, which was quite fun. Although I didn't see it advertised anywhere, the gam'e demonstration was given by Will Wright, which was a pleasant surprise. He played the game for the audience and showed off the creature editor, how the creatures hunted other animals, what happens when you remove an animal and place it on an almost uninhabited planet, and other things. The audience, including myself, was really amazed by what we saw. I don't normally get excited about sim games, but this one is really looking like something I would buy, as soon as it comes out.

If this was to become available for the 360 (it's supposedly coming to consoles, from what I've read,) there will be no hesitation when I go to pick my copy up on its release date.
