Got my creature creator today. Turns out it only works on Intel Macs. Motherfuckers. Guess I'll be playing this one on my laptop PC.

Unfortunately game developers have all but completely stopped supporting PowerPC Macs.

To download the free trial of the creature creator, go here:

http://www.spore.com/trial?sourceid=eaom35

Apparently the retail version comes with a $5 coupon for the final game. Question: does the final game include the creature creator?

So I guess there's no point in buying the creator now since you don't get the full amount back. I will try the demo, though.

That's my thought as well, but some people really want to start making stuff I guess.

I don't think I got any kind of coupon! Oh well, I tried out the creator earlier, and it's really a blast.

What is the point of using the Creature Creator though? Don't you have to start from a spore anyway? Or is this just to populate the universe?

From what I've been reading, abig point in releasing the CC is so that when the game comes out there will already be a ton of fan-made lifeforms to populate people game universes.

I downloaded it and spent a few hours last night playing. Its an addictive little game, and well worth the $10. Frankly I'm just impressed by the game engine. No matter how messed up you make your creatures body, it still manages to move around without any difficulty.

I think the only part I miss are tentacles. It's hard to make proper Lovecraft aliens without tentacles.

I played around with the demo for a bit today at lunch and it is pretty neat. I like looking through the Spore-pedia thing and seeing what everyone else has made. There are a lot of body parts missing in the demo though... I'm waiting for the full game until I put out any money however.

I enjoyed the demo, but I don't think I'll be buying the full CC. I'll just wait for the full game.

Downloaded the demo, ran it, and got an error message.

This is why I fucking stopped playing PC games.

Does anyone think Creature Creator should be free? If not what makes it worth buying?

I think it should be free... which is why I am not buying it. I will pay for the full game when it comes out instead.

The CC is to make content for the game. They are basically charging people to do their work for them and people are buying into it. This is just odd.

This.

From a marketing perspective though, it's genius.
