Hmm lets see I don't remember any games that really sold me.
Atari 2600 - My parents gave it to us.
Intellivision - It was the new system lol
Atari 7200 - No idea why.
NES - same lol
Sega Genesis - I don't remember but I never wanted the SNES
Sega Saturn - All Japan Pro Wrestling
Dreamcast - Soul Caliber
Playstation 2 - Free from a shopping spree
Xbox - Soul Caliber 2
Xbox 360 - still waiting for something to give me an excuse, bought it and returned it.

Dungeon Lords for the PC convinced me to buy a PS2.
I got sick of PC games getting released despite the fact that they were incomplete, as the company would decide that they could just patch it later. Dungeon Lords was the last straw. I bought the deluxe version and encountered a bug where the game would crash in the first dungeon. I researched it online, hoping it had been patched. Despite it being out for a year, the bug was still not fixed. I took it back to Best Buy, demanded my money back, and went and bought a PS2.

As for the PS2 and GameCube I didn't need a game to give me a reason to buy either of those consoles.

NES - just wanted it, but Super Mario Bros. helped
SNES - just wanted it, but Super Mario World helped
Gameboy - just wanted it
Playstation - Final Fantasy VII
Dreamcast - Utopia Boot Loader :\
Playstation 2 - Final Fantasy X and Gran Turismo 3 bundle
Gameboy Advance - Castlevania Circle of the Moon
Gamecube - Resident Evil remake and price drop
Gameboy Advance SP - price drop
Xbox - gift when it came out, but would've been Halo and DOA3
I was never convinced to get a N64. I am still not convinced to get a DS, but I think I will when the Lite comes out. PSP lacks good titles. 360 is too expensive for me, and also lacks titles. Maybe I will for Halo 3.

Nintendo: Super Mario Bros. 3
Super Nintendo (bought this on launch day): Super Mario World/Legend of Zelda 3
Sony Playstation: Resident Evil
Gameboy: Super Mario Land 2
Sega Genesis: Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Nintendo 64 (bought on launch day): Pilot Wings/Mario 64
Not that I paid for those. That was a long time ago.
I don't remember the others. Newer systems had none of the hype for me (with launch titles I mean). So, I bought them as various things I wanted came out... I dont even remember anymore.
I guess I used to be a Mario whore back then...
