Some pretty convincing shots of the latest Game Informer showing off Red Steel. This may well be the first Revolution shots we've seen (assuming they are, in fact, real).

Details:
Game Informer is going ALL out in their next issue, dedicating the cover to the Revolution. They will be presenting a world exclusive first look at Red Steel, which is being developed by Ubisoft. Game Informer says that Red Steel, “comes from the Ubisoft Paris team, which is comprised of industry veterans who worked on franchises like Prince of Persia, Far Cry Instincts, Ghost Recon, and Splinter Cell.” They will have an eleven page spread on the game, with a plethora of screenshots.
Game Informer will also talk to Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Communications George Harrison to see what other goodies they can shake loose.
On top of all that GI will be showing us ever MORE gaming goodness on the Revo. They say, “Plus, we have two other exclusive first looks from developers whose pedigree can’t be denied. One from Raven Software, and the other from Kaos Studios (a new studio whose core team is responsible for the award-winning Battlefield 1942 mod, Desert Combat)”

Dang this might be first title that really gets me into a FPS since Quake 1. Ideas about Gun/Sword combo and two rev wands are making the rounds. Seeing the gun turn as you turn the wand is really neat as well. Color me shocked I am actually intrigued and I loathe this genre.

Oh, and playing this on a bigscreen looks like it could be freaking blast.
It never occurred to me as a real possibility, but Nintendo could very well own this generation...the new interface ideas seem endless...and that sleek new box is one sexy bitch.

Some Tidbits I seen:
"Phil Harrison quotes from his interview in GI say there will be 20 games during the launch period of the revolution and only 1/3 from Nintendo."
“In many situations, there will be a higher-ranking enemy who commands the others in the area. By defeating him, and sparing his life, he will offer you his respect, and help. The enemies will surrender their guns, and the boss may offer you a new weapon, a special path, or another reward. Any time you spare an enemy, you will be rewarded. As it always takes more skill to spare a life, than to take it”
“Although the majority of Red Steel’s gameplay will stress ranged combat, there will be times you need to get up close, and personal. You can switch to the sword at any time, and if you can get close enough to an enemy, you can use it for one-hit stealth kills. In other moments you’ll find yourself locked into intense one-on-one sword duels.”
"The goal of most of these quests will be to track down a high-ranking Yakuza member and convince him to side with you, rather than Tokai's brutal gang. You won't be able to simply walk up to these gangsters and ask for their cooperation, though -- you'll have to prove that you're worthy, which will typically involve besting them with your sword and sparing their lives. You'll need as many Yakuza bosses on your side as you can get leading up to the final section of the quest: your confrontation with Tokai."
"The longer we played with it the more natural it felt, and the more quickly we mowed down the targets. strafing around the targets is incredibly easy, as keeping the controller pointed at the object, while you move around with the analog stick keeps you focused on the target. aim felt similar to using a computer mouse, as it is possible to quickly explore every direction in a three dimension space with quick gestures.'
"you will also be able to lob grenades by imitating throwing a ball with the controller in your hand, or even roll it along the ground with an underhand throw..."
"Twist revmote to lean against walls or push forward to push over objects to use as cover."

This has me more intrigued than anything Sony or MS is doing. For those of us that do most of our game playing on single player stuff, this could be awesome (and for party games, too). Pilotwings 64 was amazing and if they made another one available at launch, I'd have to jump in.

The more and more I think about the gaming possibilities of the revolutio, the more and more I get sold on it. With this new screen of Red Steeel, I think I will be first in line for this machine. At first I was apprehensive, but I think the Revolution will be a blast to play.
Here are my revised picks for the console war:
1.Nintendo
2.Sony
3.Xbox 360

It sure is great to see the rest of the gaming population get excited over the same things those of us imagined back in September during TGS. People needing screenshots to visualize makes me a sad panda...
Welcome to the Revolution!

I dont know Pinata I guess we just are not as intelligent as you
I was basicly sold on day one as well but I still didnt have foggiest idea on all the ways this controller could be used. Even reading Red Steel info I still will have to see it in person to understand how all the little nuisances work. Perhaps you should be in game development

Looks promising though.

The leaked specs show a system more powerful than an Xbox 1 and with a better videocard. Not running in HD resolutions can get them a lot of extra mileage out of the hardware too.
I don't see why those graphics and better are not obtainable.
I still cry on the inside for no HDTV support though.

I think this is different from Sony releasing promo shots though. Then it was just, "this looks amazing". But what these screenshots indicate is how amazing the possibilities are and WILL be with the control set up for the Nintendo Revolution. Actually seeing a first person shooter being developed indicates how fun this console will be.
I can't wait until E3. I just hope Nintendo doesn't disappoint again by only releasing a few bits of information. They should really go all out and show the games in playable format.

I just don't understand the surprise or the notion (and not from here, but from everywhere on the net) that the graphics were going to just suck and all of the sudden, people are shocked that they won't.

I'm far and away more excited for the Rev than any other console in the next gen. I will go with one of these and either the PS3 or 360. Waiting to see the price point on the PS3 before I make a choice.
The shots of Red Steel look mighty sweet. I have a subscription to Game Informer so I'm hoping it shows up in the mailbox this week.
I wonder if the old lightgun games will work with the Rev? I'm all over Duck Hunt 2k6. They should make that a launch title. Hell, they should totally embrace the retro/Virtual Console, and have a Mario 128/Next Gen Duck Hunt game packaged in for fun.

What if most people decide to go with the Rev as their second console? Could that make it the lead console this generation? For instance, like tpc, I plan on getting a PS3 or 360 depending on what comes out of E3, and definitely a Rev.
