Still getting one at launch though. I'll be asking for the new Nintendo.

Obviously, Nintendo choosing a name like "Wii" proves that they are not clever enough to come up with such a simple, seamless marketing plan.
Disgraceful. Let me also state that I will buy one opening day.

They should call it the Nintendo Little Wii-Wii.
This reminds me of the Sega Dreamcast's pre-launch codename which was the Sega Katana. In both cases, the codename was a thousand times better than the final name.
On the bright side though, at least it won't be called the Nintendo Dolphin (which was the Gamecube's codename).

Pretty bad name, but I didn't like Revolution when I first heard that either. But it's just a name so I could give a rat's ass.
I am curious to see what the ad campaign will look like now though.

I should probably mention that I'll still be picking one up on launch day, but I refuse to call it "Wii". This is without a doubt the worst console name I've ever heard in my 20+ years of gaming. I would like to take a Wii on the short-bus marketing people who came up with this idea.

Well, the name is nothing if not Japanese. Their marketing campaign in Japan can be "Wii wa ii" -- Wii is good!
You know the console's middle school popularity just went down the tubes, too:
"I got a Wii for Christmas!"
"What are you, gay?"

They should get Michelle Wie to be the face of the console.

in the two hours that this thread has been active the people here have come up with 1,000,000x better advertising ideas than the big N ever will for this console. Kudos to the Knights who say wii that's hilarious.
