Also if they are stuck on a color like blue or red there is a good chance they are simply stuck and will unstick with some use. If you have one that is black or white it is probably a dead pixel and you will have to get used to it, exchange the system or get it fixed by Nintendo. Some people aren't bothered by one or two bad pixels. My PSP has one bad pixel off in the left side near the edge and I never even notice it unless I look for it.

OK, consensus time:
Which of the following games should I get first (and I DO have a wireless router, FWIW) ?

New Super Mario Bros.
Nintendogs
Animal Crossing WW
Mario Kart DS

Thanks.

If I get one tomorrow, I'm really considering tryingto Brain Games for free (from BB) and then maybe get either New SMB or SPPeach or Animal Crossing.

... but then again, I might just wait until the Zelda game comes out.

Decisions. Decisions. Decisions.

I can't speak for the others on the list, but New Mario Bros. kicks all kinds of ass right now.

New Super Mario Bros is the best game I've played in a long time (but I love 2D platformers).

Mario Kart DS is great too, probably my favorite Mario Kart game.

The other 2 aren't my cup of tea.

How many of you use screen protectors? I bought a set from Best Buy (by Pelican) - and similar to the one on my PSP - even though I tried to apply it as fast as possible, it had enough lint and dust on it to be totally useless.

I picked up the Pelican one also. I've heard that the Hori ones are best, but heard that the only B&M stores to find them at are EBs, and the one by me didn't have them.

It took me a half dozen tries before I got the Pelican one down without any air bubbles. After that, it seems to be fine. I didn't notice any problem with dust or lint. I didn't bother putting one on the upper screen. I just saved the second one as a replacement for the lower screen. I'll possibly still look for an Hori one, and get it on eBay if necessary.

Alright, i will give it another shot tomorrow. Some of the air bubbles i got out, others were around a piece of lint and wouldn't come out, so i got frustrated and just ripped it off.

I never bothered with screen protectors on my launch ds and it's still pretty scatch free, some tiny ones you can only see when it's turned off and the lights hitting it at a certain angle.

Can't notice them while playing so no biggie, and thus probably won't bother with screen protectors for the Lite as it's touch screen is supposed to be even more scratch resistant.

On another postive note... Metroid Hunters is SOOOO much better on the DS lite. You can actually see where you're going and see the things you need to scan, and the smaller size, lighter weight and longer/thicker stylus don't cramp my hands nearly as badly. Still a little awkward but much better and I got past a part I'd been stuck at and given up on as I was finally able to SEE and figure out what I needed to do.

So happy I didn't talk myself back out of upgrading!

Well I was wrong. There were still bubbles, I just couldn't see them with the game I was playing. I think it is darn near impossible to get all the bubbles out. These things aren't very good, but that is what I get for buying anything Pelican, I suppose.

My only concern are WarioWare Touched and Trauma Center, with the rapid nature of each game. Did you play either on your old DS?

Well, charged mine and fired it up. I bought 3 games today to go with it. Super Mario Bros. is the shit and brings back good memories of playing the original on my best friend's Nintendo all thru high school. Metroid Pinball is awesome and is right up my alley. The flow of the game is so freaking smooth and the graphics are tip top. The rumble pak is pretty cool as well. My other is my first GBA game...Road Rash Jailbreak. Decent for an older game and it reminds me of my beloved days with Road Rash. Why one never came out for the last console generation is beyond me.

Now for the bad news...I have a dead white pixel. Right on the bottom screen near the center. It is quite obnoxious and I will have to return it. EB better not give me problems but what sucks is that they are likely sold out...whereas my local Best Buy had a ton of them today. I did not buy the warranty but should I reconsider??? Is this a common problem as the unit gets older? Does the warranty cover that?

I love the graphics. The sound is good and the gameplay is fun. This is just what I needed. I look forward to checking out a bunch of other games. And just to double check...it does play only DS and GBA games...correct? Any other kinds?

I may be crazy and you did just edit your post, but I could have sworn that you asked for a list of DS and GBA games. Even if you didn't, this is helpful information for those that are wondering.

I did Chris. Thanks.

I just started searching and then went to Nintendo's official site. They have an master list with a good filter that (I suppose) lists every DS & GBA game released.

Just reading about Trauma Center. Now that sounds interesting.

I've never liked screen protectors. They make the screen hazy even when they go on well, but they almost always get dust and crap stuck under them.

I never used one on my old DS and it never had more than the light scratches that are invisible unless you go and look for them in the sunlight. Keep your screen clean and you won't need a protector. Its the dust on the screen that causes the scratches.

I was able to get one without a problem at Future Shop. I was there before they opened and had to wait for about half an hour for them to actually open the store (I thought they opened at 10, but they opened at 11.) Only one other person seemed to be there to get one and they had about 9. I didn't buy the warranty for some reason, but I'm thinking about going back and attempting to.

Mario Kart DS is absolutely incredible. I didn't think it was possible for it to be as good as it is, even though I'd heard great things. I also had high expectations for, "The New Super Mario Bros." and it's also absolutely incredible.

I use a HORI screen protector on my PSP and it's really clear. Although, most of the others seem to get bad reviews.

I'm actually playing Animal Crossing again along with getting back into Brain Age. The games are totally different with the new screens. I can't believe how much color we were missing out on. I finally saw and caught a flee in Animal Crossing. I never could notice them on the old dim DS. I'm going to end up replaying a lot of my older titles because of the Lite.

The Hori ones are the only ones I have heard good things about and probably is the best way to go for people wanting to use one. Are the Hori ones easier to put on?

I hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate the clear plastic case of the DS Lite.

Otherwise, it rocks. I actually had to turn the brightness DOWN last night when we went to a bar to watch the ECW PPV; we played some 4-player Bleach before the show started (you have to get there an hour early to get decent seats), in the dark, the highest setting is blinding.

Being an iPod nerd I like the look of the Lite and the PSP for that matter since both copy the look of the iPod. That said the finger printing is annoying, but the white hides them much better. My PSP looks awful usually due to the prints all over it.

Will they do that if you imported one and have a bad pixel?

So here's the games I bought:

Nintendogs Labrador & Friends
Super Princess Peach
New Super Mario Bros.
Wario Ware Touched
Rub Rabbits
Worms Open Warfare
Super Monkey Ball Touch & Roll
Animal Crossing WW
Brain Age

I am going to pick up Mario Kart DS but are there any others that are excellent? I don't want to play FPS-style games on the DS or anything even remotely complicated.
