Well I got Magnetica, so there's no going back now. Now all I need is to find the DS Lite on Sunday. -pray-
And Frys, I go there and they have the price marked on the shelf, but no Magnetica's in sight. I really didn't believe that they would have sold out already. So I ask the guy and he's real helpfull. He looks around and cannot find them and then goes to the computer and says that they should have 16. So then he goes in back and after about 10 minutes comes out with the 16. You would think that when they put up the sales price sticker and saw the empty shelf, they would have at least found out where they were and put them out. -ohbfrank- Chris |

They don't want people showing up to buy something advertised as available that day and all of them being gone due to online orders. Just noticed that on Circuit City's website they changed it from "In store pick up coming soon" and showing it as out of stock in my local stores to just having it "instore pick up not available on this item" for the DS. Still says coming soon on Best Buys, for those thinking of ordering after midnight. But I doubt they'll do it either for the reason above. |
I tried out Magnetica at the download station at work (which is, by the way, a brilliant idea from Nintendo). I found it to be more difficult than Zuma, but to me that just made it more challenging.
Funny tidbit about the download stations: They're just a DS in a box with a demo cartridge stuck in them. I thought it was going to be some big high tech thing, and then it's just a regular DS. |

It is, which is why I found it so funny. It just seems like it would be some cool technology made just for this purpose. But it's a regular DS.

I'm having DS withdrawels. I'm almost embarassed to say this out loud but I can't wait for saturday to come and go so I can get a Lite and have something to play my New Super Mario Bros quest on :). |
Me too! I can't wait until Sunday morning. This is my first DS so I'm pretty excited. I even bought Super Mario last Tuesday so I would have a game to play right away.
|
Sounds like my EB got plenty of Lites to cover the preorders so I can't wait for Sunday either. I have been playing both Brain Age and Big Brain Academy on my wife's DS while waiting and I have to say I have gotten back into Brain Age. I don't like all the challenges, but there are several I find fun especially the triangle math and quick computations. That and the Sudoku are worth the price of the game even though I blew off the testing after hitting 20. Quit while your ahead is my motto.
Now Big Brain Academy I'm not sure about. The brain weight thing is kind of neat (I have a B Michelangelo brain whatever that means) and it has more activities, but it doesn't have the nice tracking system of Brain Age and there just doesn't seem to be much reason to keep playing it after you have tried all the activities a few times. Overall, I don't think either of these titles accurately track anything or really indicate anything about intelligence (for one I score way too high for the dummy I am), but they are fun memory exercises and definitely can't hurt. I'm thinking the real fun in Big Brain Academy is the multiplayer so hopefully I can hook up some of that once I get my Lite. However, after playing the first two of these brain games I can't see them ever really catching on in the US. There doesn't look to be much to buy for awhile for the DS so I will probably end up getting Magnetica at Circuit City on Sunday. Nice to know I can at least demo it at EB. |
Good to know I'm not the only one who doesn't wan't to lose their brain age of 20 :). Atm I'm mainly still just doing the sudoku puzzles (trying to finish them all) and occasional brain training. I'm still a little sceptical of the whole idea though. I started out on a brain age of 75, and a couple of weeks of testing had me at 20. I doubt my brain has grown younger 55 years in 2 weeks, more like just a case of getting a handle on the different activities.

Has any one got confirmation if Costco is going to be selling the Nintendo DS Lite? I would much rather buy from them (with there return policy) then from EB... Any one talk to anyone at Costco?
|
I preordered mine at EB and I plan on getting their extended warranty. That way if I scratch the Lite as bad as my old DS I can just get a new one for minimal cost.
|
Called the local Gamestop as the website was showing them as having 4+ in stock and heard a rumor on some other forums that they were going to sell today....but they're not selling until tomorrow and all are going to preorders.
Figured as much, but was worth a call. |
|
Yep, still no instore pick up option at best buy.com like I figured.
Oh well, off to bed to get up and hit Target at 8 am. |
I'm heading out to my Walmart. I confirmed they are open 24 hours and have some in stock to be sold at midnight. Yes!
|
Just to post here too, Brain Age free with DSL purchase at Best Buy June 11-18 with this coupon (link to it on the main page of their website)
http://images.bestbuy.com/BestBuy_US...lite.pdf?h=403 |
I'm hoping that I'll be able to find one at Best Buy or Future Shop, in about thirty minutes, when they open. I stayed up all night in anticipation of this. I don't know why I didn't pre-order one, though...
|
Finally it's in my hands! Went to Best Buy - about 10 people there, but no line, just waiting in our cars. Apparently I was the only one with the coupon, because the stack of Brain Age went untouched except for me. In and out of Best Buy in less than 10 minutes

Does anyone know how long it takes to charge a DS Lite, mines been charging for a few hours now and I wanna play it so bad.
