At the 2006 E3 trade show, Nintendo announced that it would be publishing a game entitled Elite Beat Agents, which will be released in the US sometime during the 4th quarter of 2006. Elite Beat Agents appears to use the exact same game engine as Ouendan, but it is an entirely new game with completely different characters, situations, and music.

I haven't seen a single system pump out so many high quality games since the SNES. Nintendo is on a roll with the DS, and I'm eating it up. I'll end up spending more on DS games this year than I will on the PS3 console.

Nice Castlevania video.

Looks sweet with some new movies and the graphics look much better than previous DS installment.

Super Princess Peach
New Super Mario Bros
Yoshi's Island 2
Castlevania
Zelda: Phantom Hour Glass
Star Fox
Kirby
And that's just this year! It's like a dream for me, with all my favorite games being revived at a time when I was near ready to give up gaming as I've just gradually lost more and more interest since the move to 3D.

I play my DS now more than any of my consoles, with the exception of the 360 for Oblivion.

The DS is a pretty powerful platform.
It's pretty sad when it literally kicks the ass out of it's current console. Just in one year, the DS has had more to do than the entire Gamecube generation. I would agree that DS is the best Nintendo system since the SNES era.
Not that I have any problems with it. Keep em' coming.

Man, I think I broke my DS's microphone.
I got annoyed at the Bowser battle the 2nd go around in Peach and slammed the DS down in disgust once (not all that hard though) and then when I got through the rest of the game and went to finish the rest of the minigames the mic isn't work right on the Toad Jump game anymore and the last 2 stages I have of that are all I have left to do.
Oh well, guess if I can't get it working it gives me an excuse to upgrade to the Lite.

Seriously, Ouedan! is so freaking bad-ass. I don't know what it is, in reality it should be just another rhythm game but the stylus play seems to make it a lot more enjoyable than just button pushing. I hope the American version conveys the same level of energy and wackiness, though I FULLY understand why it's getting a complete face-life over here (which is better for me because I can have both versions, wahaha).

That looks interesting. Looks like you hold the DS sideways ala Brain Age for that. More like a book. I'll be keeping my eye on that one. Thanks for the tip.

I realize I'm probably the only person that loved Boktai, but Kojima has just released details that the Boktai GBA cart can be used as a sun sensor with the new Lunar Knights for the DS.

Yes, I'm stoked.

Yet another of the point and click genre on the DS. Don't know if this one is getting a US release, but Atlus is involved so there is a great chance it will. Touch Detective is kind of a bland name though.

I don't have a DS and never really had any interest in getting one til E3 rolled around.
I just wanted to say that Hotel Dusk Room 215 trailer looked very interesting. Very noirish. Though curious to know what the gameplay is like.
I've never heard the term "point & click" games before. Can someone describe this genre for me please?

E3 thoughts
Hello friends-
I just got back from E3, so I thought I'd post some thoughts. I'm also happy to try to answer some questions, but I doubt my knowledge of what I saw will be in depth enough to satisfy.
Overall, as many of you have pointed out, the DS's showing at E3 was very impressive. I took a look at most of the games, and played a couple. The DS is kicking major butt and making the PSP look even weaker than it really is. The PSP had a very poor showing, in my opinion.
Anyway, I played New Super Mario again. I played it at GDC and enjoyed it, this time I played it again to get the free DS Lite case they were giving away. This one is a no brainer. Good game, controls are really tight. Its a little bizarre to see Mario animating so smoothly in a sidescroller. I got butterflies when I jumped onto the flagpole at the end of the level.
I tried out Zelda, and to be quite honest with you I'm really concerned. It looks amazing, its full 3D. When you talk to a character it zooms in and shows the two of you conversing from a side angle. The graphics are really smooth and sharp. But I'm concerned about the game play. Its controlled entirely with the stylus, from what I could tell, and this really lamed out the combat. I'm nearly CERTAIN that there were options I was missing, but all I could do in the demo was tap guys with the stylus and link would run up and swing his sword. Gone was the strategy of using your shield to block and timing your sword swing accordingly. Again, I haven't read up on this, and I really dont think Nintendo would screw it up, but the fighting that I saw really has me concerned.
I also tried StarFox DS. This is NOT a port of the old game, though it is from the original developer interestingly enough. Not only does it have the space flight flying / shooting action from the original, but it also has a tactical map mode as well. In fact, when I played it, I managed to lose the game in the map mode, which takes place between each flying mission. I'm not really sure what happened but it was clear that it was an important part of the game. The action portion controls quite nicely with the stylus. You guide your ship with the stylus and shoot with either of the trigger buttons. Very comfortable.
I also took part in contests involving both brain age games and won them both. They gave out these weird notebooks that are supposed to emphasize their line of games that are easily pick up and playable.
I saw the Beat Brothers game or whatever its called now. I have the import version and can tell you that this version is VERY similar gameplay wise but does seem to be a bit different story wise as Pixy revealed up above. Will buy this one regardless.
Atlus had both Contact and Touch Detective at their booth, so yes Touch Detective is coming to the US. I didn't really play either one, since they were a bit involved and would have required more time than I could devote. Atlus also showed a video for Trauma Center 2, it took me a while to realize though that its for the Wii, not the DS.
Hmmm what else. Phoenix Wright 2 was not playable, only shown in video form. It is coming out for celphones too, but I'm not sure if its the same game we already have or not, but keep an eye out if you are interested.
Didn't get to see Cooking Mama, never made it to Majescos booth, not sure if they had one to be honest.
Thats all I can think of off the top. But let me just say that I was more excited about the DS than any other system. That exludes the Wii though, since I never was able to devote the 4 hours to waiting in line, so I never saw it.
Two of my friends did and said it was overall really cool. Many people seemed to think the 'wand' was to sensitive, but I'm sure its something you get used to.
Ok, I'll shut up now.
Other than that, I took looks at all the other DS games being played but didn't try them myself.
